Did I just see a video on Instagram, Mox is going to NJPW too? Yup! The “Time’s Up” video was him! We’re getting Moxley vs Juice at Dominion for the US title. Holy fuck boys. Eh. Moxley in AEW is fine, but he's not the kinda wrestler I want to see in NJPW to be honest. But whatever. I'll check it out. He may very well surprise me.

Yeah, gotta say all the "__ would be great in New Japan" talk that gets thrown around, Mox is one of the last ones to come to mind. Perhaps we've been reading this "US expansion" all wrong...

Meltzer apparently says preliminary estimates say 'above 200k buys'. Can a subscriber corroborate this? Seems ludicrous. Apparently this came from a site misquoting him talking about Google trends, not PPV buys. On Wreddit they've got Meltzer saying that DoN did significantly better than All In which was 55k.

Isn't Sami under TNA contract? If not, I would love to see him and Mox together again.

Meltzer’s ratings have come out and he gave Cody/Dustin 5 stars. I loved it, but I am shocked it got 5.

I'm surprised as well but it was one hell of a match from a storytelling standpoint. And there's nothing wrong with the fight they had. No botches that I can remember, nothing technically sound but a good brawl.
One has to wonder though if Dave is giving his AEW pals a bit of a rub with that rating to continue the buzz over DON with people who care about that kind of stuff.

Yeah, the days of five stars from Meltzer meaning something are clearly over. That being said, if they hadn't both kicked out of a crossrhodes - which felt like overkill - then it would have been close to five for me. Was a great match and the clear match of the night - so I'm really happy for them.

Considering he gave Jericho/Omega 4.25 stars and SCU/Strong Hearts 4, I think these ratings are inflated quite a bit. Both those matches were good but nothing special.
Dave from 5-10 years ago would have given both those matches a 3.

One has to wonder though if Dave is giving his AEW pals a bit of a rub with that rating to continue the buzz over DON with people who care about that kind of stuff. I mean, this has likely always been the case (giving his mates higher ratings), but he is also far more lenient on throwing out massive ratings in recent years. For example, there is no way that he would not be giving those top ROH Danielson matches (Morishima MMII, McGuinness Unified, KENTA GBHVI) the full 5 if they happened in 2019. And yeah, in the modern world, with the internet and social media, he knows the impact his ratings can have and there is no doubt that plays a factor. I mean, let's look at this show and compare them to equivalent 1997 WWF ratings from Meltzer. Battle Royal *** Bret/Sid Feb RAW Sabian/Guevara ***¼ Shamrock/Vader IYH15 6-Man Tag **** HBK/Austin KOTR Women's 4-Way *** Bret/Taker SummerSlam Jack Evans Tag ***¾ Taker/HBK IYH17 6-Woman Tag ***¾ Bret/Austin IYH14 Cody/Dustin ***** Bret/Austin WM13 Bucks/Lucha ****¾ HBK/Taker HIAC Jericho/Omega ****¼ Canadian Stampede 10-Man

Jericho/Omega was boring AF, if it was a WWE main it would get 2 stars.
Loved Cody/Dustin though

I wonder which match is going to have more reverence in history, Goldberg/DDP or Sabian/Guevara?
Maybe Meltzer is a Harry Potter mark?
I read his report, in honestly reads like a gymnastics exhibition.
Sabian did a springboard flip.
Guevara did a crazy flip dive. Guevara did a triple shooting star press Guevara did a shooting star press off the apron Guevara hit a 630 splash ... Sabian hit the Deathrow Hallows (groan) for the win.
Nothing about story, nothing about strategies, just dives and the finish.

Meltzer has dreadful taste in wrestling IMO. He's entitled to like what he likes but I wouldn't pay any attention to it.
