I think we will probably go into another lockdown This time we can blame: Adelaide Victorian government who posted the wrong supermarket in their contact tracing. Is contact tracing even working? It's a thing, but I can't recall seeing many people actually doing it recently. At the height of covid, sure. But realistically, I could travel from Melbourne to Sydney without a single scan. It will be interesting how they tackle the AFL this week. If that goes ahead and 50k people are allowed in the MCG, then this entire thing is another joke. There's a good chance the cat is already out of the bag I guess with the infection spreading. The contact tracing isn't enforced here. It's also fragmented because the government actually has a very good scan in app, but half the places I go the company has their own wank of a system that requires you to enter your shoe size. Even more annoying is that most of these companies with the stand alone systems make ZERO commitments on how they will use your data. It is a shambles.

Trump today posted that through his hard work developing a vaccine and vaccinating America that the US was able to avoid a situation like the Spanish Flu where thousands of people died each month and hundreds of thousands of people were left dead.
So glad to know that COVID did not effect the US like it did the rest of the world and we led the world in dealing with the crisis.
Your countries need to get on our level.

Contact tracing is whatever - I think most people can remember pretty well where they have been. The real problem here is that the federal government have rinsed their hands of any responsibility regarding hotel quarantine despite having over a year now to create an appropriate facility, whilst doing a completely terrible job rolling out the vaccine. The new outbreak started with a guy who didn't have it when he came back to Australia but caught it while in quarantine - that's a monumental blunder.

Australia signed up for 4 vaccines before they ever rolled our including the manufacture of two of them, one tested positive to HIV and only two actually rolled out, one we made. 2. We manufactured AZ locally, but the idiotic medical fraternity won't let anyone under 50 have the vaccine... The risk of clots is so low but apparently medicine works different in Australia to other countries in the world (UK is giving everyone AZ) 3. Less people died in Australia last year than any year in recent memory. 4. Hotel quarantine is fine, the state governments are the ones choosing to use Hotels in the middle of the city. 5. The same people hitting the government for delays on the roll out are the same ones wowsering about the AZ vaccine which is the exact reason the federal government delayed the roll-out. 6. If the states want the federal government to handle quarantine, hand back the GST revenue. 7. There is heaps of AZ vaccine available but nobody is going to get it because Norman Swan and his mates breathlessly report every case of blood clots like it was a bubonic plague outbreak. So we have nobody at the vaccination hubs and people queued for 4hrs for Covid tests.

This seemed credible since day one, glad people aren’t dismissing it anymore It was only the fact that it fitted with the Trump narrative that fact-checkers were so quick to dismiss it. Interesting that on the news this week everyone is talking about the Indian strain of Covid. But to associate Covid19 with China without any blame at all, is somehow racist? I don't understand the world

And the story it was created in the lab is bullshit, which is what everyone was saying from the start. Not that it came from people working with batshit in a mine.

The new timeline crap shows that a very closely related virus to COVID, RaTG13, was found in people cleaning up batshit in a Coppermine and brought to the Wuhan lab. Should this virus have escaped the lab, it could have easily mutated into COVID as the only difference is one or two bonds in the structure.
Still lacking in this story is the creation of COVID in the lab and RaTG13 could have easily been in the wild anyway without a break since people were exposed to the miners who caught it and other people shovel bat shit in the mines. Lab leak theory is more comforting to people as this means it is not likely to happen again, whereas the emerged the wild theory should scare the hell out of people, as it means it will be likely only a matter of time before the next corona virus crosses over to humans in Asia.

We just had a 7-Day hard lockdown announced, starts at midnight, no schools etc. can only travel 5km from your home. They dd however just open up vaccinations for the 40-49 age group, so I am going to sign up.
As for the China thing, there is an established history of people selling carcasses from the labs to the wet markets.

Reaks of conspiracy theory. We traced SARS to a wet market, as well as several flu variants. Most likely cause of transfer of COVID was a wet market. We do not need medical waste, escape or boosting to explain it. They ruled that the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, the same market that is conspiracy says sold Wuhan lab materials, was not the source, but they did not rule out other wet markets, or slow spread from the mines before reaching critical mass in Wuhan.

We have traced several viruses to wet markets, yes. It's easier to see how swine flu crosses over to humans, the difference with Covid is that it is somewhat similar to a virus found in bat's, but not the same as. This is a completely new virus not a single mutation that crossed species. For the record the strain making its way through Melbourne is the Indian strain and it seems much more virulent than the strain of Covid I had, my wife never caught Covid when I had it despite sharing a bed with this sexy hunk of man flesh when I was at my most infectious. The Indian strain on the other hand seems to be affecting a very high percentage of people exposed to it.

Who is going to release a report soon on the origins of COVID. It is likely it came from a raccoon dog infected with RaTG13 in a Chinese wildlife farm where it mutated into COVID. Then the dogs were sold at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan. Turns out the story that COVID was not there was bullshit and only referred to the dead animals tested. WHO found it in several live animals tested. So it followed a very similar vector to SARS. China has since shut down the wildlife farms. www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/03/15/977527808/who-points-to-wildlife-farms-in-southwest-china-as-likely-source-of-pandemic?t=1616302540855Edit: Oh the report is already out. The US just does not believe it apparently. Bioweapon escaping a lab is a better media story I guess. www.who.int/publications/i/item/who-convened-global-study-of-origins-of-sars-cov-2-china-partReading the lab report now, and most early cases had market exposure and occured in clusters where those who were not exposed to a market, were exposed to someone who did have market exposure. COVID was found here in the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market live animals areas, upstream warehouses for live animals, stall drainage and sewage. Contact mapping seems to show a link between live animal market exposure and early COVID cases as the half of the market that did not sell live animals did not see people get COVID, whereas those exposed to the half that did sell life animals were infected with COVID. They found a very similar virus to COVID in Chinese pangolins, which were raised in the wildlife farms and sold at the markets, that were seized in a smuggling operation in 2019. This version is closer to the COVID than RaTG13 and showed most of the bindings needed to infect humans. This version of COVID is referred to as pangolin-CoV-GDC. A different smuggling operation found a second strain, pangolin-CoV-GXC, that also is similar. So there are two possible origin vectors, the animal farms or smuggled pangolins. The report also found that bat viruses that can bind to humans may have been circulating for decades, and it is likely that SARS-CoV-2 is not a new virus, but just had not crossed from bats to humans yet. Report concludes it is very likely a spillover event from working with an infected animal or it's poop. Which would mean that COVID did not start in Wuhan, but the animal farms. However the animal farms are not dense enough to cause it to spread widely, and sickness there would not be notable, whereas the markets are the ideal place for the virus to spread to the point of starting an investigation. The infected animals were likely sold and consumed which is why they could not locate them. Given how fast COVID spreads, only a small batch would need to be have been sold at the market to start the outbreak. It is unlikely the ultimate chain of infection with patient zero will be found. One key finding was 8 of the earliest cases had identical sequences of COVID and they all were exposed to the market, which makes the market the likely origin of the mass outbreak. But if the animal farm origin is true, older cases will be found in the animal farms, which is the where the next step of the research is going.

Instragrammers reporting getting people offering them cash to spread anti-vaccination videos in the EU. Wonder how many in the US gladly took this. I don't think you need to pay people. Here there's a staggering amount of people who are anti-vaxx for COVID. The conspiracy theorist in me wants to believe the notion that COVID was a biological weapon created in a lab and released accidentally/on purpose. The other part of me believes it is tied to wet markets, but honestly both are hard to believe. What it comes down to is we are 4 BILLION over homeostasis. Mother Earth is consistently coming up with new and inventive ways to kick us off. Disease, starvation, natural disasters, ect...it's less far fetched for me to believe that a cold/flu virus morphed/evolved into something 'more'. It is trying to survive and adapt as much as we are. EDIT: people aren't believing WHO because they believe the WHO is in China's pocket.

The next stage of the research is to look into the animal farms that supplied the market's live animals. It is very likely they will find deaths at one of them, as the virus when it emerged likely infected the animals first, but then would infect the handlers. The problem here is they are looking at 14 million people who worked at the farms so it will take a while to go through all the data since a death weeks before the first cases were found will likely have gone unnoticed and just been dismissed as pneumonia, if even diagnosed.
The bio-weapon theory gives people a nice concise origin, but it makes no sense. Why was it spread at the market and not through the lab where it broke out? Dozens of people worked at the lab, and if it was a spillout event, why did only three get sick? Also how did they then infect the market if they were in the hospital? The whole lab theory people like more because it means the Chinese were lying all along so it was right to blame them directly for the virus as well.

Should also mention in the WHO report, there are other coronaviruses they talked about in Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and found in the smuggling operations that could very easily jump to humans to the point where it is not a matter of if they mutate but when they mutate.

For lab leak people, the closet we seen to a lab leak of a super viral disease was the UK small pox leak. 80 were infected and 3 died. The three SARS escape events saw only a dozen or so cases of SARS appear in the wild as well. None of the escapes documented so far lead to a worldwide outbreak however. Contact tracing in escapes is done rapidly to contain the disease.
Also this lab leak theory is identical to the 1977 H1N1 lab leak theory, that also was rumored to originate in a Chinese lab. Conspiracy is that the Soviets were working on boosting the flu to make a N1H1 vaccine and the disease leaked. Mix this with the SARS escapes in Asia in the mid 2000's and you get this current lab escape theory.

The WHO response to anything related to Covid 19 is total nonsense and only of interest to those looking for information to confirm their bias.
The WHO research trip to China was granted no freedom and their access to information was completely curated. The WHO as a puppet during the outbreak often directly quoting the press releases of people who had no interest in the truth.
The WHO was wrong on almost every aspect of the pandemic. Who would have thought an organisation that is meant to be science based but run by political appointment could be so flawed?
