Eastwood is coming up in like two countdowns so I'm going to refrain from commenting on a bunch of his movies but I do really love most of his movies I've seen from like the 90's on. He barely missed my list but movies like Gran Torino , Million Dollar Baby and Unforgiven are all great none of that even includes his expansive filmography from the Western days. Definitely deserving of the recognition.

Clint Eastwood is phenomenal. Yes, he's a one trick pony as an actor, but that one character is so incredible I am happy to watch it over and over again in Western after Western after Western. He's cerebral, he's menacing in a subtle and non-forceful way. He rarely speaks, but his words are chosen very carefully and always make a strong impact. He's tough as nails. Gritty. His roles reinvented Western cinema and the archetypical cowboy antihero role belongs to him.
He's also proven to be more than competent in non-Western roles. Million Dollar Baby is one fine example.
Stephen King's gunslinger Roland of Gilead, protagonist of the Dark Tower series, was modelled after Clint Eastwood's Western character. Reading those books would not have been anywhere near as enjoyable if I didn't have that image and personality to accompany me as I read King's words.

Clint is awesome and I'm stoked he made the list. I'll save most of my gushing for his own countdown, but I will say Clint westerns are easily the best westerns ever.

Nice start to this list, can't argue with a true American icon. If I leaned more towards a greatest list he might have made it, but I went with much more personal choices. Still I really like most everything I've seen (except Firefox) and he made landmark characters out of Blondie and Harry Callahan.

Always reliably great, from the stoic badass of "the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" to the feeble old man in "the Mule," could always depend on Clint delivering a worthwhile performance. As a fan of westerns, he's the single greatest western star of all time, not even close, really. The only comparably western icon would be John Wayne, who wasn't actually much of an actor, for my money.

Another handsome stud!
I was worried he wouldn't get due love, as I think being such a pretty boy causes folks to underrated him. But he was wildly talented as a young gun, and just keeps getting better with age.

I really like Brad Pitt and have grown to like him even more as he's gotten older. My favorite movie of his is definitely Seven while IMO his best and most iconic role is Tyler Durden in Fight Club. If Seven put him on the map , Fight Club made him a bonafide superstar while simultaneously proving his acting chops.
He barely missed my list but that's only because this was a brutal cut down , nothing against Brad who aside from the aforementioned classics and favorites of mine also led in movies like Moneyball and Oceans - two great flicks. I also love his little role in True Lies as one of the best parts of that movie.
I honestly thought he might make it a little higher , he made a ton of lists but none super high. Good on him though , Pitt is one of the most consistent and bankable stars in the world today which is a far more than people were willing to give him credit for at other points of his career.

Also, UT , gotta give ya props: love the stats you've chosen to highlight in reveal posts for this countdown! Thanks. I messed with Clint's a bit and this seemed to be the best way to do it while also not taking me forever - I wanted to list more movies but it just looked janky and I didn't like it. Some are weird though , had to sift through some of Brad's cameo's to make a proper call on his highest grossing. Yes he was in Deadpool 2 , no I'm not given him the credit for that being his highest grossing movie even though it's technically listed as such on his credits.

Reading those books would not have been anywhere near as enjoyable if I didn't have that image and personality to accompany me as I read King's words. Ah. I have not read the books, but I can totally see this coming through in the Dark Tower movie now that you mention it. No wonder that character seemed like such a badass. It is rare that you post such an informative paragraph. I didn’t know you liked Eastwood so much. I am still used to the “I hate all westerns” Emperor of yore. I knew that was long past, but it is still surprising that things have changed so significantly. I can finally consider the debt incurred by you getting me into old-timey horror movies with Witchfinder General PAID IN FULL.

I had Pitt at 11 just missing my top 10 and I shamefully forgot to add Clint to my list. Mind you he would’ve been around the 12-15 mark but still.
So far so good with this list though.

A lot of people disregard Pitt because of his pretty boy appearance, but behind all that lies a damn fine actor who has excelled in a wide variety of roles across a wide variety of genres.

Brad Pitt is a phenomenal actor, as seen by the quality of the tope ten we did of his films recently, which had many great films missing from it. He seems to choose his roles wisely and to genuinely love film which helps.

Pitt made my master list of personal favorites but didn't make the top 15. I first really took notice of him in Interview With The Vampire which he was outstanding in. When he followed up that film with Legends of The Fall though I did lump him in with the all looks no substance tag but he redeemed himself again with Se7en. He's been a real dependable leading man ever since.

Brad Pitt found a place near the bottom of my list. As others have said, phenomenal actor with a lot of versatility. He's fantastic in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Snatch, Inglorious Basterds among many other roles. His minor roles in True Romance and Thelma & Louise are also amazing. He can do no wrong.

I admittedly wrote Pitt off for a good while, when I was young, as nothing more than a pretty boy. Then Fight Club happened, and I realized how unfounded that was going back through his works. Kalifornia, 12 Monkeys, Interview with a Vampire, Legends of the Fall...all amongst my favorite films, all different enough performances. And that’s just the early ones I’d overlooked, also has stuff like the Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Rorbert Ford, which is my favorite Jesse James movie. Great actor, fully deserved that Oscar for OUaTiH; stole every scene he was in, while acting alongside another great in Leo...no small feat.

Fight Club was the first thing I’ve seen him in and I’ve disliked him ever since. My most hated movie of all time.
I’ve started to come around on him by seeing him in other stuff since though. World War Z, while not amazing, was thoroughly entertaining and he did a pretty good job.

I was surprised to see Meryl finish this low , there's a case for her to be the greatest actor in history and her awards resume speaks for itself. So much so that I just gave up after the Oscars and skipped everything else because I'd be here for the next four hours. Insane profile. I like Meryl but she isn't one of my favorites. I imagine age and stuff have a ton to do with it so I don't fully appreciate her like I should. The Devil Wears Prada is far and away my favorite Meryl movie and one of the best roles of all time. I really do owe her the respect of going back and looking at more of her filmography. She's never been bad in a single movie I've seen her in. Even the maligned Death Becomes Her is great because of Meryl. Also to beat 🤯 to the punch , Meryl , especially young Meryl was absolutely stunning. Good lordy.

I roll my eyes whenever I see her up for a nomination because of course Meryl Streep could just film a vlog and be up for an award. However, she really is a captivating actress who gives all of her character's little details that get me invested in them as opposed to Meryl herself.
I think 13 is about right considering the demographics of this board. I know personally speaking, I've never felt compelled to go on a Meryl Streep marathon. However, if Meryl pops up in something like The Post or Adaptation I know she isn't going to detract from the movie. I like that she just goes with the flow of the movie and doesn't drag it down like other actors can because they have to act.
If I had to choose, I'd go with Adaptation, that was such a fun turn.

I assume Meryl mostly finished this low because PW is almost exclusively a pool of male wrestling fans who likely gravitate almost exclusively toward other males when it comes to wrestlers, actors, musicians, authors, etc. Honestly, won't be totally surprised if Meryl ends up being the only lady to appear on the overall countdown. I agree on her having a case for being the GOAT. She's definitely the female Jack Nicholson. And similar to Jack, I like Meryl a lot without her being a favorite. And yet she's been in a lot of my favorite movies/roles... It's this weird conundrum, but I respect the fuck outta her chops. Why is Death Becomes Her maligned? I thought it was a decent comedy for what it was. I'm torn on favorite Meryl movie between Devil Wears Prada and It's Complicated. Think the former was the better role/character/performance, and the latter was my more preferred movie overall. Her Susan Orleans in Adaptation deserves a big shout too IMO. Now... Most importantly, in the looks department: while she is stunning, she suffers from rack lack, and ultimately she is no Brad Pitt or young Clint. But virtually none of us are, so is that really a knock?

Meryl has the accolades and there's no doubting her talent but to be honest, I've seen like 1 of her movies all the way through. She didn't make my list and I didn't even consider her.
She's like Michael Caine for me. Incredible actor, deserves all the praise in the world, but I've seen him in Batman and...that's about it.
