Uncharted 3 is the first Uncharted I played and still the best in my book. The game most like an action movie ever made. I got it with my PS3 the day before midterms and was fucking glued to my seat enjoying the ride. Beat it that day at 2 AM or so. Then spent the rest of the night studying. No sleep was had and I can honestly say that it is probably the only time in my life that I stayed up all night and that it was worth it. I can't believe two other Uncharted games got picked first. This was a better experience than watching the best Hollywood movie because you were actually playing it.
No idea how Melee wasn't picked yet either. Sure, Ultimate is mostly preferred now, but Melee had so much more of a significant cultural impact. And people will diehard defend it as the definitive Smash game even still. The most competitive. I don't care about that aspect much myself, but I love both games and will play either of them plenty. They have a lot of differences to offer and are certainly unique enough to warrant regularly playing both.

I think Uncharted 3 was the weakest of the bunch, the flashbacks were nice, but it reminded me of World War Z in it felt like they created a series of set pieces and then cobbled a halfhearted story around it, where the others felt like they built the stories and then inserted set pieces. Also had some odd technical quirks the others didn't have, I know there's a specific angle when you're covered against a wall that for some reason causes the accuracy to be completely off if trying to shoot an enemy kiddt-corner to it. Also never explains Talbot's random appearances or gives much purpose to his mind control darts.

You don't need a purpose for mind control darts! They're cool plot-twist darts! That's all there is to it!
It's not like the other games had extraordinary stories. This one felt the least random of them to me though, for what it's worth. Yet all the stories are fitting for a game. They draw on that classic game cheesiness that many have learned to love. Cobbling the story around the set pieces benefits the game, as the levels felt much more smooth and exciting to play through whereas some of the stages in 1 and 2 got a bit tedious/long/boring by comparison. The level design was spot on in this one and kept me very entertained. Not that the other games were bad by any means, but some parts of the levels definitely felt a bit like they were there to fill space.

Not saying they were necessarily great stories, but consistently told, U3 was all over the place, characters weren't as interesting, and I've always hated the Sully fake out...it was cheap, and already used in the first. Worst 3rd act for my money. Boat or plane don't compare to the train. I get it was the purpose, but hell that desert bit drags more than any other bit. Just felt like a lateral step, somehow with the worst of the gunplay, where 2 and 4 both felt like they took steps to improve what came before. And just the same, not saying it's bad, the worst Uncharted is still above average.

Ninja Gaiden and Kingdom Hearts in particular are great picks.
The former moved an entire genre forward and beating Ninja Gaiden Black on Master Ninja remains my top gaming achievement.
I think if I tried that now, I'd stop after the first hour, the time we have as teens...
Kingdom Hearts made me a JRPG fan (along with FFX) by being so accessible. I still remember my mom purchasing it for me and reading the case and instruction manual in the backseat of her car. I was put off by other games of the genre at the time, but I recall thinking the character designs were cool and thought the Disney connection would be fun. It was. Well, maybe not Wonderland.
