Emergency National Cabinet meeting today, around how Australia will deal with Omicron and Australians who are currently fully vaccinated against Covid-19 could have that title stripped away unless they get a third jab under a proposed new rule. The federal government’s chief medical officer, Professor Paul Kelly, has written to the Prime Minister, state premiers and territory chief ministers urging the reinstatement of mandatory mask-wearing indoors amid the rapid spread of the Omicron Covid variant. Man of the Year, and renowned bed wetter Brett Sutton is reportedly pushing for tougher restrictions. My prediction is that the term fully vaccinated will require boosters. I'm eligible for mine on the 29th of this month, but I'm in no hurry as it will just mean I need the next booster sooner. Sutton is a grub who has overseen mass bankruptcy and suicide for no gain. My personal favourite this morning is the people on Twitter claiming a lack of vaccines by government mismanagement is causing them to not be able to book their booster... What a lie, I looked online and there's appointments available everywhere.

I know people who claimed it was too difficult to book in and there were no appointments available. I made an appointment one evening and received the shot 2 days later.

As an Australian, I am so embarrassed by the Djokovic stuff up at the border. Mostly the people out with pitch forks wanting to burn him at the stake because he hasn't been made to suffer like we suffered....
What has happened to my country and how did we let our governments tear away our soul? 😢

Think people are more mad that you all had to lock down and go through all these hoops while the government just told him naw you good dawg, do whatever you want. Not sure why people are mad now though, when the borders were closed Americas were still going to Australia, some while actively speaking out against the vaccine and mask wearing in the states.

You must suffer like I have suffered has never been the Australian way. Nobody really came here during the lockdown. I had to bring in technicians from Italy and it was crazy the number of legal hoops we had to jump through to get the approved. Just the paperwork was 3k each plus about 4k of hotel quarantine time.

The entire thing became a joke due to Djokovic being a dropkick anti-vaxxer who claimed he has a medical exemption from being vaccinated against Covid-19. When in reality, it was pure bullshit.
And now, Daddy Djokovic has accused The Prime Minister of trying to bring Serbia "to its knees".
It's really just denying Novak an easy win 21st Grand Slam with favourites Federer and Nedal out.
Serbia. Australia doesn't think about Serbia. We're too busy signing pacts with Japan so China doesn't eat us alive.

American entertainment studios were moving people in and out through the pandemic. They have people to do the paperwork and backers to pay the bills. Thought it was so weird because you all were like on super strong lockdown, and then you hear about people going there to shoot movie scenes or a TV show. Most A-listers were able to quarantine in their mansions, but then Hollywood got pushy and wanted the quarantines to be waived entirely as people traveled from LA to Australia, and people got all huffy and pulled out production crews over the summer. Was a fiasco in entertainment news when the US opened film lots and like stopped caring about COVID.

Yep, so many movies shot here during lockdown when at the same time you weren’t legally allowed to have 2 friends over.

Yeah the Djokovic thing has nothing to do with anything beyond being a populist "I stopped the boats" move to distract everyone from the fact everything has gone to shit.

I've read numerous times people talking about the fact that the WA health system is much worse than most of the rest of Australia. Their EDs struggled with a slightly more prevalent flu season a few years ago. McGowan could probably be criticised for not doing enough over the last couple of years to improve things, but I'm sure knowing they will almost instantly be overwhelmed is contributing to the continued reliance on border closures to stop/limit outbreaks. The border closure has led to him becoming immensely popular, it would be politically moronic for him to expose a weakness by opening up.

It really is a different world over west. But I'm sure a hook-turn down the right dirt road would get you in or out of that dry, shithole of a State if you really wanted to.

His budget has had a 5 billion dollar surplus, build the hospital beds.

This is political.
The Wiggles winning the Hottest 100 is like a Young Buck being voted wrestler of the year. It's stupid, and most of the votes came ironically. Still, if you don't get it, you're old and dumb and a Triple M stan.

So I don’t understand the point of checking in atm
I contracted Covid on Sunday at wrestling as did 10+ other people, checked in to all the venues I visited afterwards (until I became symptomatic/aware of situation of course).
Got PCR test and NSWHealth texts me multiple times yet none of the places I checked in update to tell me there was a + case there? It’s been a week. Especially for Telarah Bowling Club as there was at least 10 cases.
Obviously I don’t need to know but others that want to have case alerts as if there isn’t Covid every 2nd place you go are out of the loop.

I stopped checking in months ago, unless physically forced by someone at the door. It's apparently mandatory, and so is mask wearing, yet 50% of the population aren't doing that.
In saying all that, the definition of a close contact is now spending 4 hrs in a home setting with a confirmed positive case. The purpose of a QR at businesses to alert you to a positive case is now irrelevant.

Looks like Djokovic lied about having COVID and simply wanted to get into Australia without being vaccinated at all. BBC reported on some weirdness regarding the tests he presented to show he had natural immunity. www.bbc.com/news/59999541

Morrison today in his speech regarding the anniversary of the apology to the Stolen Generations blaming Aboriginals for not forgiving whites for what they did. Every day it's a brand new low for this fucker.

I don't think you can have a conversation in Australia about Indigenous issues, that includes speaking beyond the 'Always Ways.. ' narrative - I'm just suggesting - we can't as a country talk about progress.
We have debates every year about 'changing the date' and acknowledgment of country is now part of every day life, and more and more we're recognising Aboriginal athletes, artists and musicians, particularly through youth media and of course, a national apology. And we're speaking more and more about some of the terrible things that happened during the colonisation of this country.. but what is next?
A national apology doesn't fix the issues within the communities. And hasn't. And you don't need to travel to the outback to see the so called gap widening. Aboriginal communities where I live are riddled with drug & alcohol issues, violence, etc. I had an Aboriginal neighbour who's kids didn't go to school despite being under the age of 10 - I'm not responsible for that, and neither is anyone else. An apology, or a collective acknowledgement of any alleged atrocities isn't going to change that lack of individual responsibly.
I live in a region with a higher than average Indigenous population - the CBD is jam-packed with services supporting Aboriginal peoples from employment, adult education, mental health, social services, sport, child care & education, drug and rehabilitation... the list could go on, as I'm probably not even aware of some of the services that exist. There's an entirely different court system that encourages elders within the community to take the lead on crime & punishment, and liaisons within the Police who work with the Indigenous community 1:1
But despite all this support, nothing changes. Just a perpetual cycle of the same issues that plagued previous generations. Even posting this, it will probably be met with " Oh, you can't say that.. you can't expect Aboriginal people to just move on... " the 15 year old kid trying Meth for the first time, isn't doing it because of a collective sadness within his community as a result of the Stolen Generation, he's doing it, because the drug & alcohol issues are prolific within his community. He most likely lacks an education, and proper support and will continue living a life dependant on a drug, and crime and little ambition and his understanding of the issues within his world will never extend beyond, I hate to use this term - Critical Race Theory. Or a basic understanding that " all white people are privileged and innately racist " and that's enough to explain why things are the way they are for him.

Should prove interesting. First Aussie election I will follow. Curious what the political fallout of the lockdowns and what role if any the trans drama will play.
Also love you the sheer variety of parties that are there. Know they all siphon down into greens, coalition and labor, but it is a lot better than our shit state of politics where we get theater and people are moving away from having platforms.

Most voters I know: I hate ____ he’s a fuckwit/I hate ___ party
Election Day: Writes something like “Batman” on their ballet & posts it on their socials
Results: I can’t believe ____ won! This is BS (Rant continues) =====
I wish voting wasn’t mandatory here. Though I’m glad we have pre-polling days as I don’t think I’ve ever actually voted on Election Day & had to deal with the huge queues
