I know y’all are Australian, but can someone give me the PW Digest version of the NZ haka woman? It's all over a treaty bill, well, an unofficial treaty that over time has sort of wiggled its way into being something, sort of, some what legitimate given its referenced in politics and later an act, obviously in regards to legislation enshrining Māori rights. Realistically, it centres around the protection of their land, and agreement Māoris will retain full chieftainship and have the full rights and protections as British subjects. Remember this was something written 185 odd years ago. A Māori Politician, yes a Māori wants to reinterpret it, so all Kiwis have the same rights and privileges. But, in short, it was incorporated in an act back in the 1970s and and it's tribunal has concluded The Māori never conceded their sovereignty, resulting in +$1 billion in pay outs to Māori groups. --- The exact thing we voted against in Australia.

🔘 OVER 100 ARRESTED IN HARBOUR - #NEWCASTLE
- 1:30PM, Sunday 24th November
Police have arrested over 100 people as a police operation continues in the Port of Newcastle.
Just after 10am today (Sunday 24 November 2024), a large group of people entered a shipping channel and interfered with the movement of vessels.
138 people have now been arrested after refusing to comply with a direction to move away from the channel.
The police operation is ongoing.
For their own safety and that of the other users of the port, police request that people refrain from entering the harbour with the intention to obstruct other users of the port. We also encourage all participants to follow the directions of police.
The community is reminded that under NSW legislation, the safe passage of vessels is protected. Unlawful activity may result in fines or imprisonment.
The NSW Police Force will adopt a zero-tolerance approach to actions which threaten public safety and the safe passage of vessels.
