It also seems PC's with Bitlocker cannot bypass the loop, might need to be reformatted or recovered manually. IT guy I chat with elsewhere been up all night rebooting by one by to fix things. Sounds like a right nightmare. They found a fix but it cannot be centrally deployed.

Thugs and trouble-makers at all levels. I never met a SDA Union Delegate that wasn't a problematic employee first. I believe in Unions, but they're hard to justify. I watched the union defend a worker from instant dismissal who overturned a vending machine to get all the chocolates and fill a shopping bag. Also first hand witnessed vandalism of machinery to secure overtime.

Linda " you're all dumb and racist " Burney is out. She oversaw the failed Voice referendum last year.
To some she's a hero, to others a villain. Although it's suggested, it was her choice to leave, there's every chance Albo is cleaning house before the eventual election.

The Voice left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths and yes, you're correct - Albo is as good as gone. I must apologise, she wasn't the Yes Campaigner that called us all dumb and racist, that was the other one. Linda Burney called the entire debate simply appalling and racist. She was also the one who couldn't/wouldn't answer a single question in parliament and just repeated the same script over and over again to the frustration of everyone in question time.

It's official,
" There's no cash here. Here, there's no cash " - Australian Gangland proverb.
Victoria has ran out of money. Victorian MPs have been told to rein in their spending requests and Labor admit they have pushed the state to the limit with taxes.

They claim only a small fraction of the debt is due to Covid. But sure, stifling and eventually suffocating business during a pandemic wasn't nearly as bad as we citizens think it was. 🙄

Australia's consumer watchdog is suing the country's two biggest supermarket chains, alleging they falsely claimed to have permanently dropped the prices of hundreds of items. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) claims Coles and Woolworths broke consumer law by temporarily raising prices before lowering them to a value either the same as or higher than the original cost. Coles said it would defend itself against the allegations, while Woolworths said it would review the claims. The grocery giants, which account for two thirds of the Australian market, have come under increasing scrutiny in the past year over alleged price gouging and anti-competitive practices. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the alleged conduct, if proven to be true, is "completely unacceptable". "This is not in the Australian spirit. Customers don't deserve to be treated as fools," he said at a press conference, at which he also revealed draft legislation for a previously promised "code of conduct" for supermarkets. ACCC chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb said Coles and Woolworths have spent years marketing their 'Prices Dropped' and 'Down Down' promotions, which Australian shoppers now understand to represent a sustained reduction in the regular prices of products. But in many cases "the discounts were, in fact, illusory", she added. The watchdog's investigation - sparked by complaints and the ACCC's own monitoring - found Woolworths had misled customers about 266 products over 20 months, and Coles for 245 products across 15 months. The products included everything from pet food, Band-Aid plasters and mouthwash, to Australian favourites like Arnott's Tim Tam biscuits, Bega Cheese and Kellogg's cereal. The ACCC estimated that the two companies “sold tens of millions" of the affected products and "derived significant revenue from those sales". “Many consumers rely on discounts to help their grocery budgets stretch further, particularly during this time of cost of living pressures,” Ms Cass-Gottlieb said. "It is critical that Australian consumers are able to rely on the accuracy of pricing and discount claims." The ACCC is seeking that the Federal Court of Australia impose "significant" penalties on the two firms, and an order forcing them to increase their charitable meal delivery programs. In a statement, Coles said the company's own costs were rising which led to an increase in product prices. It had "sought to strike an appropriate balance" between managing that and "offering value to customers" by restarting promotions "as soon as possible" after new prices were set, it said. The company takes consumer law "extremely seriously" and "places great emphasis on building trust with all stakeholders", it added. Woolworths said in a statement that it would engage with the ACCC over the claims.” Our customers are telling us they want us to work even harder to deliver meaningful value to them and it's important they can trust the value they see when shopping our stores." Amid growing scrutiny of the supermarkets, the government commissioned a review of the country's existing Food and Grocery Code of Conduct. The review recommended a stronger, mandatory code of conduct be introduced and policed by the ACCC, so they can protect suppliers as well as consumers. The new code will set out standards for the companies' dealings with providers, who say they are being unfairly squeezed, and introduce massive fines for breaches. www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd982y85wg1o.amp

Everyone knows this has been happening for years. Things that used to cost $5 went up to $10 and are now on "special" at $8. Nothing will change here, they'll probably have to pay a measly fine that won't even make a dint in their profits. Nothing will change unless the government takes action to break up the duopoly, and there are a number of reasons why that will never happen.

I raised it internally when I was part of that cult at the beginning of 2022, feeling it was incredibly deceptive. And I was promptly told to mind my own business, and how it was legal and to get over it.
I can't remember the exact details. It was Coca Cola 2lt that was say, $2 " price drop ".. it then went up to $4 for 2 weeks, then back on " price drop " at $3, thus proclaiming a saving of a dollar. They did this with a tonne of products.
Apparently the market rule was 14 days before a retailer could pull such an act.
I've said it here before, the top end of Woolworths are some of the most toxic, problematic people you'll ever meet. It's no surprise that anyone at a zone, state or national operations level with a strong moral compass leaves within a few years.
But this is probably the least scumbaggy thing they've done over the last few years. And what's The Government going to do? Shake them down for a few million in fines? This after all, is a company that " lost " the payment data of thousands of employees and chose to pay the minuscule fine instead of the money owed to its employees, including former ones.

If we're going to stick with capitalism then there must be competition and consequences for both failure and deception. I'd be very interested if you could get something like a stock market candlestick chart to track each grocery product. Imagine if it had to be made available to every shopper.

People get the companies they deserve. People could shop at farmer's markets or at Aldi, but they don't. You get more of what you vote for and people vote with their feet and dollars. We don't need more regulation to protect people front heir own stupidity, we need to make it so that people are more responsible for their own stupidity... Or nothing will change. The more regulation the more stupidity flourishes

The shop at Aldi, IGA and farmers markets logic is a joke. There I said it. And I'm sure a politician or two running for re-election will spout the same line this week. Shane Jacobson will probably get a run on morning TV promoting IGA as well.
Aldi doesn't offer the same range nor experience as shopping at one of the bigger retailers. And I'm sure without the data, the amount of Aldi stores vs either a Coles or Woolworths would be 10:1 across the country. Many a suburb or town wouldn't have an Aldi for miles. Let alone would you make the effort to drive 30 minutes to save a few dollars.
IGA. Most stores are glorified convenient stores or incredibly over priced and/or limited in range, with varying degree of consistency given the independent nature of their business. Again, few and far between. That, and they all stink and operate like it's 1984.
Farmers markets. Oh, yeah... are these are open on Tuesday at 6pm when you need bread, milk and fresh food? Sure, I'll wait for every 4th Sunday of the month to buy some vegetables. Good lord, it's not the 15th century.

I've read that Coles and Woolworths have actually put code on their online stores that blocks independent price tracking websites from picking up data, probably because it makes it difficult to make a lawsuit prove what they are doing.

It's interesting it's taken this long to address this, giving 12 months ago during the Voice Referendum the widen concerns around cost of living were raised then. They were raised prior as well, and well.. it's been a concern since we came out of the pandemic giving the absurd inflation we saw on housing over just a 6 month period.
Now 12 months later, The Albo Government wants to speak on it.. oh, election in 2025. Ahh, right. They need a win.
