And the an interesting thought, I can't wait to see people's thoughts on tax-returns in the next few weeks - considering a large part of the work-force worked from home. Are they now eligible to claim every ounce of data they used using their own internet and mobile phones from home, the electricity bills that kept the lights on while working from home? I would think, maybe. Yes you definitely are - they brought in a special COVID WFH price to make it easy to claim on tax last year - it's something like 80c an hour.

iNCY, personally I think if another unnecessary lockdown occurs, businesses that close should be either reimbursed or a deduction made from next year's council rates (if they are still in business) And the an interesting thought, I can't wait to see people's thoughts on tax-returns in the next few weeks - considering a large part of the work-force worked from home. Isn't that the point, to protect the vulnerable? The rate of death on the young is so low it's not even worth acknowledging.

The lockdowns are a government wanting to seen doing something - without actually doing anything. It's an easy response. Politics don't matter any more with any of this. Scott Morrison was on one of the morning shows either yesterday or today, and couldn't wait to swing the lockdown conversation to " How goods the economy? How goods unemployment?" He doesn't care either, people are spending, taxes are coming in. He's getting paid and he's now vacationed overseas twice in the last month. People can't see their families, but Brett Sutton can jerk off his mate in Canberra with the rest of mates, but people have got to literally beg and plead to see dying relatives. He doesn't care. This whole fucking thing is a joke at this point.

Interesting to see that Morrison's approval has taken a big hit in NSW and Queensland on the back of the Covid outbreaks there. Goes to show how insular people are - he's always been shit but until his shitness direct affects me I don't care.

I booked in for my Pfizer shot, got it booked for the day after tomorrow. I would have waited for Novavax, but these Lockdowns are crippling my ability to install equipment and service my customers so here I go...
I feel for the politicians on the vaccine roll out, I think initially we had deals on 4 vaccines and one gave you HIV and the other didn't work, so we are left with two.
I also think the hyperbole on AZ has more to do with the likes of Norman Swan and their levels of self importance than it does the science. The media doesn't report vaccine hesitancy, it creates it. In the UK everyone is getting AZ, if that was still the case here just about everyone would be already immunised.

An Even ‘Hacking’ Field – Government Surveillance Bill Passed by Parliament By Cameron Abbott of K&< Gates August 31, 2021 The Surveillance Legislation Amendment (Identify and Disrupt) Bill 2020 (Identify and Disrupt Bill) passed both houses of federal parliament on 25 August 2021. The new legislation extends the power of law enforcement agencies to identify and disrupt suspected online criminal activity through the provision of three new warrants. The new warrants provide the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission with the power to: Modify or delete the data of suspected offenders (data disruption warrants); Collect intelligence on criminal networks (network activity warrants), and Take control of a suspected offenders’ online account (account takeover warrants). Anyone required to assist with government hacking is protected from civil liability. However, anyone who refuses to comply can face up to 10 years’ imprisonment. Online criminal networks are evolving rapidly with the use of anonymising technology – making the detection of serious online crime near impossible. Encrypted applications such as Discord have stated that approximately 536 verified dealers sold $100,000+ of illegal substances/stolen goods in one week, despite Discord’s “zero-tolerance” approach to illegal activity. On the other hand, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) previously warned that the new warrant powers could adversely impact the privacy of a large number of individuals – including those with no suspected involvement in criminal activity. The complexity of online crime makes it increasingly necessary for law enforcement agencies to level the playing field, identify suspected criminal activity and intercept that activity before it is actioned. However, proportionate consideration of individual privacy rights has created a lively debate in the passage of the legislation thus far. The Surveillance Legislation Amendment (Identify and Disrupt) Bill 2021 is now awaiting Royal Assent. Ella Richards also contributed to this article. I think most countries have idealised versions of themself. This pandemic has really shown the worst of us to ourselves. We pat ourselves on the back when it is about donating to bushfire appeals or whatever. But when it comes to a choice between people and the person next to them, they choose self.

If anything, it exists in very small pockets of regional Australia where the war was basically yesterday and not a lot has happened since. And you're right, it's a great way to engage with rural dust bowl communities.

They brought up getting vaccinated in my work group page and all hell broke loose. They were intentionally vague but basically implied they wanted 70% vax for staff/patrons (at least that’s how I read it) by October.
Was quite a lot of people saying they won’t get it, some just opposed others having medical reasons. Some were staff that started just as lockdown hit so they will probably leave anyway.
The people that do want it have appointments in Nov/Dec for their first dose and people waiting on their second will be a similar timeframe. So how we hit 70% by re-opening in October I have no idea.
Just goes to show how awful the vaccine rollout has been in this area, with some of them infamously sent elsewhere.
Ironic considering boss posted about mask mandate being due to “80 people having the spicy flu in Sydney” which aged terribly and complaining now is upset staff aren’t taking it seriously.

People just need to keep refreshing the website to get a booking. It's going to be a big mess, I don't know how they mandate vaccination. How are people meant to get staff? Nearly impossible already. It's like a thought bubble got legislated. There's some vaccine hesitancy at my church, it's going to be weird when they announce vaccinated people are allowed to attend and from there if people choose to get vaccinated it will take two months to get it done.

Yes.
Judging by above I’m assuming obviously if all customers have to be injected so do staff..
So most retail workers are 18-39, until somewhat recently you couldn’t get AstraZeneca unless you were under 60 years old. Even now the advice when you book to get vaccinated under 60 is still that Pfizer is the preferred vaccine, so a lot of people took that advice and booked for Pfizer.
However some don’t even have appointments until November or December and that’s the first dose OR they had appointments that were cancelled and had to rebook. More so true in regional areas anyway.
Who is staffing these stores in mid October, just the people that got AZ? 🤨
====
My 2nd dose for AZ is still booked in for the 1st of November and still unclear as to whether I can have it or not as I’m still suffering from reaction to first dose and waiting results. Having a mixture of doses isn’t recognised as being fully vaxxed here anyway.
My work is scheduled to open on the 18th October if things go to plan so i guess I try to get medical exemption or just try to find earlier appointments for 2nd dose and hope it doesn’t mess me up more?
Getting Pfizer won’t help me by mid October

I was thinking of you System it's a bit of a nonsense, I hope that they accept a single dose and a negative test as they did in construction. I don't support vaccine mandates, the whole narrative and message is nonsense. They keep saying if we open up too soon, hospitals will be overwhelmed... Which is nonsense because it's going to be overwhelmed with people too stupid/lazy to get off their ass and get vaccinated.

I think the idea was to push those refusing to get it, to go and get vaccinated.
But they didn't think of those who have had the first dose.
So, if you limit what people can do until they are fully vaccinated, there's going to be a period in which half-vaccinated people aren't in the workforce awaiting the second appointment.
I still fail to understand why we're living under harder restrictions now, with 66% of Australians receiving the first dose, and something like 44% fully vaccinated. When arguably the threat was larger at the beginning of the year when it was party central.

When arguably the threat was larger at the beginning of the year when it was party central. Exactly and people see ads like the one below and think it’s going to be back to the before times when things re-open. It’s still full masks, social distancing and capacity limits after you sign in with your QR code and vaccine passport. fb.watch/7XV6uIT98a/A lot of people were avoiding going out for leisure before lockdown as they didn’t want to wear a mask, trade dropped off significantly at my work prior. It’s one thing to have a whinge about wearing a mask at the supermarket but I don’t blame people that don’t like wearing masks not going to for leisure so they can avoid it as much as possible.
