I never liked instapot style rice. I have an instapot brand rice cooker though I love.

Just coming around now on the virtues of slow cooking out moisture instead of pressure cooking stuff.

I recently got a bamboo steamer. There's a big Korean grocery store near me with tons of frozen dumplings. They're super easy to make and are pretty good.

My college roommate had the coolest steamer. Basically three metal pots stacked. He would cook nearly everything in them. Guess that is how they cook things in urban China.

That's how dim sum places do it. Maybe I'll upgrade if this one wears out.

OMG I DID IT!!! Detroit style pizza from scratch made!!! Did not stick to the steel tray. If I prep dough in advance this is a pretty damn fast and cheap meal. $5 worth of shit to make a 14 by 10 pizza. Takes an hour if the dough is made in advance, four hours if fucking with the dough, but most of that is resting time.

Little C's is shaking.

Excited, never made pizza before and had it like come out right. Also this means now pizza night will be $10 bucks tops instead of the normal $40 it costs here.

The local pizza chain has gotten outrageous over the past couple years.

Now I understand why hood moms always have spaghetti in the fridge. I had 2 servings original, 2 more today. Truthfully if I could make it work this could honestly be dinner 4 nights in a row. Gonna see how it feels tomorrow, but I probably won't have it a third day.

I have a steamer like this, except it's three plastic baskets stacked plus an extra pot for rice. I use it to cook rice and most vegetables. It's fantastic. Usually one basket is enough for me, I occasionally use two.

Not sure if thread worthy but been watching this Joey Swoll fella on Twitter & Youtube, he's the man.





Not a gym rat in the least bit but I like seeing these folks slam people who try and make fun or shame people at the gym for views & clicks on social media. His videos are practically a daily watch and yeah they sort of follow the same sort of tune each time but it's good to see someone call out the gym toxicity behavior and people trying to get clout for belittling others.

Got a raise today that I wasn't expecting.

I'm also getting a raise!

And I bought some One Piece trading cards today!

And I had some nice pizza!

Speaking of pizza I haven't gone to costco in a month!

You should go tomorrow. Thursdays are made for pizza and hot dogs!

It's on the fence. I actually ended up going to 5 guys on Fridays the past month instead. I only stopped going there because they started recognizing me. So I can't go back for a while!

Guess Costco is back on the menu, so long as no one notices me!

First day back and I got the same surprise. Considering I just got one at the start of the year, I was very pleased.  Was told the last one was bumping me up to where I should be, and this one is for my yearly  performance and also taking into account inflation.

Count me in on Team Getting raise albeit my raise is a 3% increase via union and doesn't go into effect until few months from now. City jobs for the L.

Inflation in 2023 is at 6% roughly, my increase covers half of that at best. Positivity thread though!

Count me in on the raise bandwagon. It’s time for my raise, but wasn’t expecting since the one I got mid 22 was a cost of living adjustment. And I have been maxed out, for the last few years. That is I had reached the top limit of the pay scale. So my adjustment gave me raises I had “missed” and and adjusted the top pay. This has happened to me before and they usually skip the “annual” one when it lands so close. But hey it’s a positive. It was only about 1% but ever little bit hurts… I mean helps, positive thread spotty, positive thread.

I told them my surname months ago, so they think that’s my actual name, but OK!

Lots of people at work call me by surname. It makes me feel kinda badass.

I would call @papaya Aaron either A-A-Ron (thanks Key and Peele) or MAC!

I would call All34LOL by his legal first name, since I know he goes by his middle name.

Also big congrats to all of you with your raises. I will wait by my front door for the flood of care packages coming my way.

I am not much of a tourist, with my work trips I normally compress everything into an idiotically short amount of time to spend as much time as possible home with my family.

On this trip, I ended up with a Saturday of no plant visits in between flights, so we stayed in Venice and I took my customer's sight seeing.
I did about 4.5hrs of walking around before I called it quits:







One of the few places I have been to that lives up to all of the hype.
Yes, there is some incredible history... But it is also a fully functioning city at the same time with no cars and everything from DHL to garbage collection being done via the canals.

Thank you for the photos iNCY. Venice was my daughter's favorite place in her 2 week European travels thus far although she also loved Slovenia.

Rogue and I are talking about a Greece/Italy trip. I'm hoping either Spring or Fall 2024.
