Is there anything more frustrating than loading up your online shopping cart only to get knocked out of the free shipping threshold when you enter your sale code?

So we have online Xmas toy raffles at my work that are hugely popular. You buy tickets online, there’s a livestream where we draw the tickets (I’ve been hosting) then if you win you come into the club and collect your prize.
The prizes include stuff like an iPhone 15, Xbox Series X, TVs and smaller prizes as it gets going but because of said prizes we sell a lot of tickets. So that means naturally a lot of people are going to miss out. I get it’s a stressful time of year and people don’t want to/can’t spend huge amounts of money on extravagant gifts so they want to try their luck but that’s all it is..luck. Don’t want to gamble your money? Don’t buy tickets 🤷🏻♀️.
Finish raffle, winners are listed. Several accusations of the raffle being rigged and people saying their numbers aren’t in the raffle. The social media team handled it well & one or two comments supporting us but it’s just ridiculous the entitlement of thinking if you don’t win in a raffle it must be rigged.

We as a society have endorsed this behavior. If we don't win it's because they cheated. Same logic if you lost your thing it's because someone stole it.

I came across this website that pays people to review books, I thought that’s pretty cool I’ll give it ago. The books are free to read, when you start out you basically review for free but it leads to payment. I got offered a few books but they never interested me until this one book that I finally accepted, they were also paying $5 for it - admittedly it’s not much but I was gonna read the book anyway so why not. Also apparently after you review so many and go up so many levels you can earn up to $60 - whether it’s true or not, who knows 🤷🏻♀️ So, I read this book. It’s terrible, I absolutely hate it and at this point the $5 isn’t worth it, I don’t care. I finish it anyway because I’m a glutton for punishment. I wrote the review and submit it. Then you get a questionnaire to fill out as well. So basically the review has to be 300 words and you have to go into detail about the characters/plot etc. which where this book is considered it’s hard unless you want to spoil it all, so I avoid most info but I try my best. The questionnaire you have to pick a rating out of 4 and then a rating out of 5, simple enough. You also have to justify why you picked that rating in your review. No problem. This is where the problems start. They want you to find a minimum of TEN errors in the book whether it’s grammar/spelling etc. write down the page/location and the ENTIRE quote to explain why it’s wrong. Like bruh, I am not the editor? The book has already been published so why are we looking for so many errors. Then after this there is a rating for profanity, sexual content, religious content etc. I don’t think this book is appropriate for a lot of people, there is a lot of questionable quotes in this book but the quote I find questionable doesn’t read their ‘quota’ they require. So I can’t give them a rating for zero with the above but I also can’t quote what I think is inappropriate because it’s not inappropriate enough according to them. You also have to say page number, the quote and explain why the profanity. I’ve written essays with less information. Absolutely bat shit. So AFTER you finally do all of this. They then rate your review, they look for EVERY SINGLE ERROR possible. Whether it’s a comma or a period they think is wrongly put they will mark you down an entire 40 points for it. You can go back and edit your review but after you edit it you have to do the questionnaire stuff all over again. ALL OF IT AGAIN. It doesn’t save what you previously typed so if you forgot to keep a copy, or no longer have the book you’re fucked. I’m so annoyed, in the brackets is what they want me to add BUT before this it’s what they made me change. I give up, fuck these guys lol

First of all I want to say ‘well done’ as I had to go to page 3 (nearly page 4) to find this thread.
My mom and I thought we bring some sweeties and a card over to 3 of our neighbours, 2 of which have large barky dogs - like most people in this area. Maybe I should have dropped them off in the mailbox but I thought to wish them a Happy New Year in person. Both of them have ring doorbells so they can see it’s me and my mom standing there but of course they are highly annoyed because the dog(s) is now losing its shit and they are struggling to hold them back. It made us feel like what we THOUGHT was a nice thing was actually a nuisance and very unwanted so next year they are both getting a wave the next time we see them for the new year.
Having owned two large excitable barky dogs in the past, I get it but I would usually let the dogs outside before I answered the door so I didn’t have to deal with that.
We have always gone out of our way to be good neighbours. In fact I still keep in touch with neighbours I had when I first got married and in every house since. I’m just annoyed because it seems like the concept of ‘good neighbours’ has gone the way of the Dodo especially in recent years and I find with the younger peeps.
Maybe I just expect others to be like us when the world has changed.
What is your relationship like with your neighbours?

Hardly knew anyone since high school in my living arrangements. I'm gonna assume covid made us even more closed off in that regard. The closest I got is an older lady who shares the same floor as me. There's an acknowledgement and she's a decent dog owner (helps that it's neither yappy or a large uncontrollable breed) so there's a few pleasantries exchanged.

I'm really sick... Not COVID, but I had a cold that turned into a chesty cough, now I have sweats, temperature as well as a sore ears and kidneys... I have had a few twinges that have reminded me of when I had pneumonia.
Sick on holidays sucks balls, packing up to head home today and I am willing myself to get going. My heart rate has barely dipped below 110 for the past few days

Yeesh, sorry iNCY. Does not sound like fun at all. I'm currently on my third diagnosis of Bronchitis since October, despite never having it before in my life. Finished my antibiotics yesterday, and am now on my third different puffer/inhaler (again, never using on in my life before October). The only positive about this is that my children have not been sick during this time. But my body is so tired every night from coughing so much. I even pulled some muscles on my right side ugh. Speedy recovery Incy! iron maiden I know several of my neighbours really well, and like them. There's a bunch I would trust with my children in case of emergency. Even though we all generally hibernate from November to March, it's great seeing everyone again once the snow melts. We also had two young families move in last year close by, and we're getting to know them too, and seem lovely.

I talk to my neighbours on my right, she's a single Mum with two kids. The kids are super friendly and we all often say hello and talk over the fence. The people on my left are scum bags and everyone hates them in the street. The bloke across the road, I see regularly through work and often we end up talking shit about real estate and how much we hate the scum bags. Next door to him, there's a lady I used to work with, so we chat. And then a few doors up from us, there's an old lady who is friendly with my Mum, she brings Oranges down every now and then and we sort of look out for her as she's there alone. A lot of us bonded when the town was flooding and we all spent a week surrounded by water and cleaning up mud.

Though body aches are always bad with a fever for me since my mystery illness I had in the early days of Covid. It was finally decided I’d had something mosquito borne… my joints in my ankles knees and hips have never been the same. Anyway it sucks being sick. Feel better.

Colds and flus are hitting people here hard. They aren't COVID but keeping people down for 3+ weeks or sending them to the hospital. Hope you both heal quickly Foos and iNCY.

I didn't update this but I did end up going to the quacks and they put me on antibiotics and steroids. I had a sinus infection and bronchitis. Ugh, sorry. Really hope it fixes you up! I finished my last round on antibiotics about a week and a half ago. It really messed with my stomach. I finishedt my steroids yesterday. Also really messed with my stomach the opposite way, causing me to be ravenously hungry all the time. So those first 5 ish days were fun, having an upset stomach with everything going right through me and simultaneously being starving.

An ache behind my molars makes me think the sinus infection and nasal drip is ongoing, the sore ear has stopped though... And no upset stomach. Glad you are on the mend.

Yesterday I felt close to death. Remained abed for roughly 28 of 31 hours. By 7 this morning the illness was gone. It vanished as quick as it came. Yet in its place was a sore upper back. From sleeping wrong, I presume. Just can't win.

Hope all you guys are on the mend. The cold/flu going around here is no joke. Something about a 100 day cough and the flu is keeping people bed ridden up to 3 days. Not COVID. Something was to set in, but I said what @admin did above...'ain't nobody got time for that', took a shot of Jager and have managed to keep it at bay.

We got a pretty big dump of snow last night so since I'm working from home I've been out front digging out our walkway and driveway. I wear my earphones/airpods to shovel because it keeps me from getting cranky. I took them out because I pushed 3 cars out of the snow and on the last one lost them when they slipped out of my pocket (in the case) I guess. And they are white. Talk about a needle in a haystack or rather an airpod case in a snowdrift. Argh!

Do it before they get more wet.

Probably helped I went out with my glasses on to look for them whereas I didn't have them on when I lost them. They happened to be in my driveway which was already shoveled, so no one passing by saw them and they seem to still be working despite the cold and snow. I put them in a bag with some silica pouches anyway. I guess I can put this in the Positive Thread now.

I love mine. Use them daily as they double as microphones so I can pick up my calls without having to remove them. I don't like how easy they can fall out, but I like the ease and simplicity of them. Charge quick too. However, going forward I will be using my corded ones when I shovel snow or do yard work.

I am so incredibly retarded that I am not sure what to do.
There has always been the stupid thing where my body and I don't communicate. Am I hungry, tired, sore? I don't know most of the time... My wife normally realises I am hungry and I never do, mostly because my mood deteriorates...
All that aside I have had the STUPIDEST trend imaginable going this past 12 months. I try on shoes, think they fit good, get them home and put them on... Then go out and develop massive blisters. I am not talking about once, but several times. It seems I can't tell if shoes are going to hurt my feet or not. That tied with my inability to return products to the store makes me king of the dicks this year.

How's the missus doing? I don't post much about my family, but my eldest daughter inherited the neurological condition I have, but thankfully the .edicone is much better than when I was talking it, like infinitely better. My wife has a shockingly bad back and has an appointment next week with a spinal surgeon to talk about options, we are hoping it will be an injection and not surgery.

The Wife is doing great, I guess this time around, it was my turn to take one for the team. I'm just happy to be at home now, nothing against the hospital, but I prefer my king-size bed, over what I was sleeping on while I was there. Well that, and more importantly, just to be home and see my kids again.
