I went to this big state conference a few years ago now, and snuck out to go to the toilet to avoid falling asleep. In that 5 minutes, the biggest of bosses helicoptered in, walked into the bathroom and despite having 20 urinals to choose from, he choose the one next to me and started chatting.
Here I am, standing next the most powerful man in the state with my dick out talking about the weather.

My in the hospital getting her pacemaker. Got left branch block following COVID. Her case did not hospitalize her, but was bad enough to damage the heart nonetheless.
Posting updates on her on facebook for the family and everyone is blaming the vaccine. The one she got after COVID and the symptoms started.

Currently have conjunctivitis which is causing other flu symptoms and my least favourite blocked/swollen ears to the point it just sounds like the ocean in my head 24/7. Losing my fucking mind.
Also my mum had to go to hospital today as she is currently spitting up blood clots. Really upset I can’t go and see her as I don’t want to risk making her more sick. Just very upset in general that I am also sick again.
Dad stayed home from work to look after me, so I’ve had him and my fur baby being excellent doctors, but this is definitely testing me 😭

Sorry to hear about our unwell PW mums - sending good vibes! How annoying are blocked ears sandylea? Luckily I'm not sick, but I get them almost every time I fly now and it can be really painful. I'm up in Sydney for a couple of days and mine still haven't cleared from last night.

Have you tried Sudafed spray @admin, I sometimes have the same problem and a couple of squirts up the ol' nostril sorts it right out even though it seems like it is ears, it's the blocking of the canal between the nose and the ear that creates the pressure. First time I was told I didn't believe it and I was having a massive amount of pain, went to the chemist and got some sudafed and I could literally hear my ears unblocking with the sound of water going down a plug hole

Wishing your moms good health c & sandylea. WEM (West Edmonton Mall) was on active shooter lockdown tonight for 2 hours. I had friends stuck inside at the back of stores. They said the mall personnel acted quickly. Apparently, sounds like it was a drive by outside the mall where 3 people were seriously injured. Friday night a guy was killed in a drive by on Whyte Avenue when the bars were closing. Guy had a 9mm and unloaded the clip. 3 others were injured. My friends' son and his friend tended to a woman who had been shot 3 times in the chest. They think she might have been with the guy who was targeted. It never used to be like this here. I remember being in LA as a teen and being shocked at the drugs and deaths, but honestly it's looking the same here now and I don't know how to fix it as it's a symptom of so many things.

Mom should be released soon. Hospital forgot to call when she was out of surgery. She is fine it seems, sans the damaged heart that required the pacemaker.
Still a scary thing to find out her long COVID fatigue was half her heart basically no longer working. Bit different than the media stuff on it.

Mom is doing better now it seems.
First day of high school for Taryn, my former step daughter, and school locked down as a kid brought a pair of stolen guns to school with them.
This follows a student killing a professor at my alma mater yesterday and the college going into emergency lockdown.

I just lost my third temporary crown within a week, except this time I swallowed 3/4 of it. That's going to be fun in a few hours. I have another week until my permanent gold crown is in and then I'll be ready for my Guido chains and chest hair.

I went to the footy final yesterday and we lost... which I can live with, but one of the senior players pulled out of the game due to a personal issue.
Looks like he attempted suicide the night before the final because he couldn't handle the pressure, has two beautiful young kids. Really cuts me deep.

Last night I listened to a friend talk about how he watched a few interesting shows on history and learned how Pepperidge Farm was born out of a mother's love for her son's need for a nutritious bread and how there was endless innovation that Ford motor cars lead to the innovation of Kingsford charcoal and Weber grills. Endless innovation, throughout time in America. Perseverance no matter the social or political situations. Through out economic ups and downs, wars and more. But yet, not too long after the conversation devolved into how all empires end and democracies fail. The alleged rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. The hypothetical shrinking of the middle class. It's like they had just forgotten what they had spoken about. I am a rational optimist as the book is titled that inspired one of the most influential books I have ever read- Abundance. We are living in the best times in history and they don't even see it. That makes me sad.

So around this time every year I seem to do something work wise to sabotage my work life/job which pretty much affects every other aspect of my life and have no idea why?
Last year it went to my bosses and I got out of it by the skin of my teeth but I did it again this year despite telling myself I wouldn't.
Why would I risk everything?

Last year it went to my bosses and I got out of it by the skin of my teeth but I did it again this year despite telling myself I wouldn't. Why would I risk everything? Self Sabotage is very common in life, I do it to myself quite often. While the reasons aren't always clear I think somehow it can be driven by imposter syndrome and it is like your sub conscious is trying to protect you by screwing up deliberately so that the failure will be of your own making rather than for a mistake. Just a stupid theory I am working on. If it is any consolation, people tend to judge us on a body of work versus our last indiscretion, despite what gets said in the heat of the moment.

I seem to do it when in need of a holiday and it's usually a sign I've gone too long without a significant break.
I put it down to fatigue more than anything else, and despite being very self aware I need to take more short breaks during the year as opposed to just one big one, I often ignore those signs and just end up losing focus and make a mistake or two.

I went to see a friend yesterday who got over Hodgkin's Lymphoma about a year ago. She looks great, but it just baffles me that after all that she's back to smoking. You'd think going through chemo and watching your mother die a horrible death by lung cancer you might quit, but there she was chain smoking IN HER HOUSE. I could only stay for a few hours because it was killing me to watch her and also to breathe that in.
I don't know how I did it for so many years working in the nightclub when smoking was allowed. I used to choose to sit in smoking sections because I was so used to it everywhere and really there wasn't enough proper ventilation for anywhere NOT to be a smoking section. But as soon as I came home, I hopped in the shower washed my hair 3 times, put everything I was wearing into the wash and I still smell cigarette smoke.

We are working on getting more home repairs done heading into winter. Pay it off in winter then start all over again. The joys of being a home owner.
This time it's insulating our attic to current Canadian winter standards. We went with who we THOUGHT would be best, but so far I am less than impressed. They came last Thursday to do the work. Firstly, they didn't have one of the items we asked for on their work order, then I find out he didn't schedule the roofer who was supposed to come and put the new vents on our roof. Finally, the cellulose truck 'broke down' (so they say) so they said they'd be back. I gave them a bunch of dates that did NOT work for me and he calls me back yesterday and tells me they booked us for the cellulose on a day I expressly told them wouldn't work, so now they aren't coming to do the cellulose until Nov 20th!!! Also, roofer is supposed to be here today, but it's 11am and no roofer. :suspic:

sandylea That’s in the top 10 dumbest things I’ve seen Facebook and that’s saying something. Like this before and after of Amy Winehouse someone said the photo was fake as she didn’t have tattoos in the first picture and “tattoos don’t disappear when you’re younger?” 🤣

This is both a negative and positive post. Mostly negative.
Last night mom and I were sitting watching TV and getting a start on our Christmas baking. Mom got up to stir the Nuts & Bolts and suddenly I hear BAM! from outside so of course I get up to investigate. I see the neighbor across the street getting his jacket and shoes on so I think 'okay something's wrong' and get mine on. Sure as shit, the car parked in front of my new next door neighbors house- who just moved in this weekend- was missing most of it's left back end. Neighbor across the street manage to track the guy down at the liquor store and the other neighbor put him in her car and brought him back to the scene. We managed to get the 6 pack away from him but not the one out of his hand which he pounded right in front of the cops. We got video from the neighbor 3 houses down. So that's the negative.
The positive in this is that 1) no one was hurt 2) this is the most our immediate group of neighbors has come together. We actually got to know the new neighbor and each other more through this. The new neighbor and I have a lot in common. Mom and I have been wanting to do a New Years day Levee for our immediate neighbors, but last time we tried at our old place only 2 neighbors showed up so now I am hopeful that maybe it will work this year?

I’m cutting ties with an old friend who I think he was my friend this past Sunday he shows his true color. He pissed me off very badly on the phone there is a line you don’t cross, and he cross it.
He was telling me he notice the trend that people abandon me which he list some people, and then he which he knows that my dog Diva and my dad passed away he bring them up say they abandon me. After he brings up my dad I respond “Dude! I can say the same thing about your dad, that is not cool!” Guess what he respond was? “That is the way it is mutt.” I hanged up 9n him after I tell him I have to go. If he say that front of my face I will beat his fucking ass, or worse.
Sorry for that vent but I still heated he tries to call me today but I didn’t answer I want nothing to do with that POS anymore I am done with that jackass.

Got to draw a line with some people and be prepared to walk away. With old friends sometime they turn into people you no longer recognize. Guy I hung out with all through school joined the KKK about 10 years back and I cut all ties as clearly he was too far gone in a direction I did not want to be part of. The racism always was there, and we just ignored it, but moving to taking action was just too much.
Had to bail from my entire high school friend group two years into college as they moved from smoking pot to shooting up. Reconnected with a couple after rehab stints, but never really can trust a junkie, as one relapse and problems come fast. Sadly most did not survive.
Sucks to see people just have to be cut out of your life, but if they were people that you wanted in your life, would not have reached this point at all.
