There was a strong argument to go for it there. The yardage needed was off-putting but for where they were on the field and who they're playing against, I'd have thought about it.

I understand the thinking behind playing softer on defense, as Collinsworth says you're banking on rust causing offensive mistakes, but I've seen enough soft D from the Texans the last few years. Go for it a bit. Sure Mahomes might torch you over the top, but at least it's quick and painless.

One thing I’ve not loved the last two years is what feels like a real emphasis in running it up the middle. CEH feels like he should live on edges. Like feels like he should’ve been the guy in the Watkins split out from the bunch set more than the guy they just pick on a HB Dive.

But I’m also not someone who has coached offense in the NFL for thirty years, so maybe there’s just this intent of avoiding the edges to keep people playing in the middle and I don’t know anything.

Yeah that’s a good call too. I get that why they run up the middle because it’s the fastest way to the line and has the least amount of risk but it’s weird as to why the Chiefs would even waste the down.

The Packers do the same thing with Jones.

Biggest disappointment so far as has been pass protection and Watson. Just hasn't worked at all, which is a shame because David Johnson has been good. I'll avoid hot takes on the defense, it's a young group with a few rookies and it's not going to all click beautifully at Arrowhead on the first day of the season.

They got exposed in that two minute drill when Watson started to hold the ball longer and look for a deeper pass. Struggling to handle Chris Jones. 

Surprised we haven't see Cobb targeted more in the slot, maybe in the second half...
