I watched all of Australia/England and thought it was great. Both teams were courageous on the ball and tried to make things happen. England had a little bit of better interplay upfront and the Aussies didn’t have the best of days defending and that was probably what separated the two teams.
Hemp's goal was such a gutpunch for us, you could tell that Kerr's banger had finally given them some momentum after being on the backfoot for most of the first half, but to get beaten by a long straight ball from the centre half like that was so deflating. At the risk of piling on I think Carpenter was probably our most disappointing player throughout the tournament, she has tremendous work rate but her quality when attacking (I think she literally overhit every single cross she attempted) and that was a pretty catastrophic error. But the other defenders didn't cover themselves in glory on the other two goals, I think we missed the consistency without Kennedy available.
England are a very professional team (you can really tell the difference in the quality of coaching, the Lionesses are dialled in whereas Australia rely so much on individual talent and athleticism) and incredibly clinical. I'm not sure exactly what the stats were but I think they created 4 genuine chances and buried 3 of them (Russo's goal was particularly interesting as it was the identical finish to her winner against Colombia) whereas Kerr had three decent chances herself after she scored and couldn't capitalise on them.
I'm heartbroken today. But what a goal though - iconic.

While I started following what Wrexham does (out of curiosity of how the Hollywood ownership affects the team), it does make for a fun rollercoaster ride to follow their games. Down 4-1 to Swindon at one point, to end up drawing with them 5-5.😂
It's good they at least have ownership that makes them competitive, compared to ownership like Scunthorpe had, that took them a level below the National League.

All of that offense without Mullin even being on the field was impressive. Fozzy looked oddly dreadful behind goal though. Can't be too harsh against him however as the defense did him no favors. Rob and Ryan eventually need to invest in their backline if they want to stay up. You can only rely on this purple patch of offensive form for so long before relegation ravens start pecking.
Messiami secured the Leagues Cup victory over Nashville SC a couple days ago.
Pretty entertaining match that came down to the keepers on pens. Messi earns his 44th piece of hardware in the process, likely just one of many to come. Things aren't looking good for FCC as we face them in the US Open Cup semifinals in two days time after just shitting the bed against our biggest rivals in Columbus last night, 3-0.
Leagues Cup was a huge success for the league though and generally seemed popular with MLS fans. Now if only we could get them to bring back American/hockey style penalty shootouts. Traditionalism is cool and all but this stutter step fake out bullshit needs to go.

I absolutely love that Leo is living his best life in Miami while Ronaldo is complaining about not getting man of the match awards in the clownshow Saudi league.

Big same. Ronaldo isn't overrated (maybe now), he's just such an unlikeable tool lol.
There's also some that think he didn't come over here because he has an alleged SA case against him from a trip he made to Vegas years ago. Could be some truth to that, but him wanting $$ and jumping on the first biggest bag out of Manchester is probably the biggest reason.
It's so weird though. I always imagined it'd be Messi retiring with Barca and CR7 or Neymar signing with the Galaxy.
So Cincinnati had Miami beat 2-1 tonight in the US Open Cup, up 2-0 at one point. Ref gives out 8 minutes for ET... 8 MINUTES. Messi pings in a set piece cross for Campana to head in pretty much at the 97' mark.
In ET, Miami takes a 3-2 lead off another cross from Leo. Right at the ass end though Yuya fucking Kubo Son ties it up for us to take it to a shootout. Our CB (and our very worst one at that) is our 5th pk taker for whatever god damn reason. Straight to the middle and blocked easily by Callender, Miami wins....
I officially hate Pink Tom Brady and his Merry Barca Bunch.

No way are there ten leagues in the world stronger than the MLS.
Probably not now or here soon but I haven't checked lately either. I do know Liga MX has consistently been around 9-10th with MLS anywhere between 11-16th.
Just off the top of my head and in my personal opinion: 1.) EPL 2.) LaLiga 3.) Serie A 4.) Bundesliga 5.) Eredivisie 6.) Ligue 1 7.) Brasiliaro 8.) Liga Portugal 9.) Championship 10.) Turkish Super League or Liga MX
I think we're real damn close to 10 though. Both Liga MX and the TSL are top heavy leagues by comparison, whereas we have a wealth of talent spread throughout. Some of our stronger teams could probably survive as mid table squads in the Championship, maybe even sniff at the promotion playoffs on a good year.

There's the SPI which calculates this stuff on some sort of formula that backs up what you said here. MLS is ranked 16th but has by far the lowest standard deviation. They also have Inter Miami as the weakest team in the league which is fairly obviously no longer the case...

Thank you, I've seen it before I just couldn't remember the name. I do think 16th is astonishingly low, even before Messi but definitely after. And Busquets, Alba and Farias being here helps jump us up, too. We've gotta at least be better than the Oligarch Putin League.
How's the first month of the season been for everyone's teams? It's been a poor start for my newly adopted Lazio - save for a surprising win against Napoli they have been really poor in the league. I seem to have put the kiss of death on Immobile by getting his name on the back of my shirt, he's been shocking. There was an incredible moment in their first Champions League game though, goalkeeper Providel scored a 94th minute equaliser to snatch a point against Atletico.
Was waiting until Liverpool to lost to comment as didn’t want to jinx anything. Pleased with the start of the season, our MF now looks energetic & offers a goal scoring or assist threat which it didn’t with Fabinho or Henderson. Darwin looks like he is going to be a big player this season and the wider squad will get plenty of minutes in the Europa League. Have concerns over our Centre Half’s but any upgrades can wait until next summer
In summary, optimistic Not expecting to actually challenge for the league but should be good enough for CL qualification.

We actually just clinched the Supporters Shield this past weekend after beating Toronto FC. First piece of MLS silverware in the club's history. Since it's America it's MLS Cup or bust, but it's still a great achievement considering we've also won two wooden spoons in the past three seasons.
Officially adopted Forest as my Prem team. Just happy they're staying alive at mid table. If they place higher than Chelsea at year's end, that'll be more than enough to make me happy.
Neymar suffered an ACL & torn meniscus. It's likely the end of his career.
Had he been born just a decade earlier he would have had an incredibly different career. Less in the shadow of Messi but more of one from a better Ronaldo. But the pressure of being the "lone savior" in an era of average Brazilian national teams wouldn't have been as intense with R9 and Ronaldinho around instead.
He had a solid career, better than most, but in spite of his accomplishments and ability he left so many unanswered questions. Probably one of the biggest "what if"'s in the history of the sport.

It seemed like Everton was putting together a decent streak of picking up some points in matches, be it a win or tie, but now they get a 10 point deduction, effective immediately? That'll make it a bit more challenging to avoid relegation, and I would guess they'll do their damnedest to avoid it. I feel like opening a new stadium in the Championship would be embarrassing, when you're a club that has been top flight for most of your history.
It's really more messed up what Everton is getting penalized for is things Man. City and Chelsea are guilty of as well. But I guess the Premier League doesn't want to penalize a team that is near the top of the league, that's making them bigger money than Everton.
City and Chelsea are still under investigation and their cases are more complicated because they’re not cooperating as fully as Everton. They could be relegated if proven guilty.

Couple of months later and this has continued, still in the bottom half of the table after a shocking loss to bottom place Salernitana but much better in Europe, qualifying for the knockout stages tonight. Immobile has thankfully found his form, scored all of their last 5 goals.
On another note I saw an article today about Torres and Van Persie coaching against each other in a youth league match today, boy that makes me feel old. 😅
