I first watched it several years after I saw Pulp Fiction and it lived up to the hype. It's QT's formula on a slightly smaller scale where all the pieces fit due to great writing. I agree that all the major players shine, with a special nod to Lawrence Tierney who had a long career as a great character actor who could also land this one on his Rushmore.
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is an incredible film but is a once in every 5 year watch for me, no doubt would have been in my top 200.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly the best thing about this movie is the name. Don't get me wrong its a good movie but I prefer A Fistful of Dollars out of the trilogy. I had two different Eastwood movies on my list.

Reservoir Dogs is lower tier Tarantino. Great opening scene. The rest of the movie is good but doesn't reach the heights of most of his other movies. Full of potential, establishing his unique filmmaking style and characterisation, but it doesn't do much for me. Doesn't help that I can't stand that "Stuck in the Middle" song so that dumb scene with Mr Blonde prancing around loses most of its impact.

Memento I've told this story many times before, but The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was the first Western movie I saw. Many years later, and following a repeat watch that placed it in my Top 50 films of all time, I realise it's not a good movie to introduce someone to the Western genre. It requires a pretty good understanding of Western culture/tropes to fully appreciate. Guess you could say that for most Western movies, but in this case the length, slowness and convoluted nature of the plot makes it less accessible and harder to decipher. Many Westerns are a lot more straightforward. When I seasoned myself in Western movies and rewatched The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, I rated it very highly. Believe it's my third favourite Western. A lot of Clint Eastwood Westerns revolve completely around Eastwood's character. The mysterious man who arrives in an unknown place and becomes the centre of the world. He's always the smartest, the fastest, the toughest, the most cunning. This is certainly true for Eastwood's "Blondie" character in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. He is the smartest and ultimately wins out in the end, but he's not the be-all-end-all. The Bad and The Ugly are equally important characters. They all get their chance to shine, even at the expense of The Good, who suffers a lot. Suffering is something Clint Eastwood's characters rarely do, so this automatically makes it better than most Eastwood movies. His character became a lot less compelling when he started booking himself. I'll stop going on about Clint Eastwood now. Lee van Cleef (The Bad) and Eli Wallach (The Ugly) both put on incredible performances. The Bad is, as the name suggests, the opposite of The Good. He is just as cunning, just as tough, just as fast as The Good. Except he's pure evil. The Good is far from pure good, but he generally doesn't do bad things to people unless they deserve it. However Eli Wallach steals the show in terms of acting. He straddles perfectly the fine line between being a formidable villain and a comedic goofball. He also receives the most character development in the movie, including a touching scene where he meets with his estranged brother, a monk. The plot itself is wonderful, the way the journeys of the three title characters move forward, interleave, and ultimately come together in one of the most amazing final scenes committed to cinema, the pinnacle of all Western stand-offs in a perfect setting - a cemetery.

63. Reservoir Dogs- Oof. I had this about 30 spots too high. Three scenes stand out... -The opening R rated Seinfeld conversation which establishes the characters -Mr. Blonde's torture scene -The climactic shootout

Y'all killing me PW......I know there are DEFINITELY going to be some bum ass movies that place higher than this classic.
Quite simply, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is the single greatest Western ever made. Quentin Tarantino himself calls this the greatest movie ever made, and it is clearly a HUGE influence on him.
Sergio Leone has this incredible ability to make what would normally be pretty mundane absolutely epic. Combine that with arguably the greatest score ever composed and you have a recipe for greatness.
Just pure genius.

Never really cared about Westerns, but I'm on the fence about this one at least. Of course it has to be a 3 hr runtime. I'll reserve it for the bottom of the list then.

I like Reservoir Dogs, but it was clearly a rough draft for better things to come. Pulp Fiction improved on everything Reservoir Dogs was trying to do in every way possible.

Pulp Fiction I could see possibly being a top 10 on PW. I'm leaning towards top 25, but I can see it easily.

Can't believe a Star Force movie with zero pod racing whatsoever cracked the Top 30.

I am not even going to venture a guess on the Top 25 because I'd be sooooo far off it's not even funny. My Top 100 and most of yours isn't even in the same stratosphere. It's a dude list. Mars and Venus.
Star Wars fuck yeah!
While not my favorite of the franchise, it's the one that started it all and revolutionized the movies. Like it or not, you cannot deny it's success. Good vs bad...IN SPACE! A farm boy looking to the stars who is destined for more, a strong willed princess who can wield a blaster as well as any man, a smuggler who's first in it for the money and discovers more, aided along by an old war hero, a couple of smartass droids and an ass kicking, arm-ripping Wookie against the Galactic Empire and a baddie named Darth Vader who can snap your neck by just thinking about it. What more could you want?!
