I made an exclusive new thread to talk about the exclusive movies that exclusively made it into our exclusive Top 100 list. Fuck those last 100 pretenders ... except the ones that made my list.

Incredible that this is the movie , of all movies to kick off the actual Top 100.
I fucking love this movie , it made it all the way up to #5 on my list. The funny thing is too that I probably seen this movie 15-20 times before ever watching the original. With a Vengeance was just one of those movies constantly on cable and was running constantly and I ALWAYS stopped to watch it , hell I probably seen the edited version 99% of those times too.
Now the original obviously has it's place in history and deserves all the credit (it also made my list lower) but I love the buddy cop dynamic of this one. Willis and Jackson bickering back and forth with great chemistry and following most of the tropes you'd expect but in an incredible entertaining way.
Also I prefer Simon to Hans *gasp* , obviously Hans is great and more iconic but I didn't even know what the fuss was about forever , just that this dude had a brother that got tossed off a roof. I think Irons is great but I think what drew me to him the most was the games and the riddles and making McClain and Zeus run around town trying to figure all this bullshit out. Imagine the shock when it was a swerve so he could just steal all the gold. Who knew?! It makes for a really clever and fun adventure/action movie around NYC though.
I know I'm in the minority and no one in the world would probably rate it as high as #5 but it's an immediate ass planter for me even today. It remains one of my go to movies too if I just want something on in the background.
I would put it on Willis's Mt. Rushmore. I don't care. Die Hard , Die Hard With a Vengeance , Sixth Sense , Armageddon. Yeah I said it. Though the right way it probably putting on Pulp Fiction in place of With a Vengeance. I just hate that movie.

My introduction to the Die Hard franchise, perhaps even Bruce Willis, and quite possibly just R-rated movies in general was Die Hard with a Vengeance as a kid in probably late elementary school.
Particular scenes that stuck out then and still do to this day are the opening with John wearing an inflammatory sandwich board in Harlem; the water bottle weight math problem; and the epoxy-like explosives mixing. Don't get me wrong, I remember pretty much every scene, and they're pretty much all favorites... It's just those ones immediately stuck out, and have stuck with me the longest. Honestly, my memory is weakest around how this actually ends. Vaguely feel like John somehow causes a helicopter to crash into some power lines? Anyway...
The water bottle weight problem still mystifies me. In general, especially as a kid, I loved the puzzle-solving aspect of the villain's riddles. And Bruce and SLJ made such a great pairing.
It's a shame that Die Harder didn't even remotely live up to the hype and quality of the first and Vengeance. So I end up pretending #2 doesn't exist, nor any of the newer movies continuing the story in what I can only imagine is convoluted and terrible fashion.

That water bottle scene was great as was the sign scene. As I said , the first handful of times I seen this it was the edited for TV version so I remember not even knowing what the big fucking deal was about this sign. Then you catch the movie and was like ohhhhh I got it now. Such a perfect start to the Top 100.

While it's not quite as good as the original, Die Hard With a Vengeance is a terrific film in it's own right. It's the first film that show McClane in his native NYC, and it's definitely a bigger more expansive world, if a less focused one. Pairing up Willis with Samuel Jackson was genius, and I really loved how they had to go from to crisis to crisis throughout the city. Simon Gruber isn't quite as good a villain as his brother Hans, but he still is first rate. and I get why some people might prefer him. The critics were absolutely dead wrong about this one.
For Mt. Rushmore I would say it makes Bruce Willis's (Die Hard, Die Hard With a Vengeance. Pulp Fiction and The Sixth Sense. FUCK Armageddon) Honorable mention for 12 Monkeys.
Samuel Jackson? I would say Pulp Fiction, A Time To Kill, Django Unchained, and Winter Soldier. You could substitute a half dozen films for Winter Soldier and it would be legit, but the first 3 are locks.
Haven't seen enough of Jeremy Irons work to give him one. Only two I can give him are Lion King and Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Love the added dimension of McLane having a partner and the riddles Simon sets up for the duo. Plus it has the distinction of being the only film in the franchise to take place on John's home turf of NYC so we get to see him truly in his element. I too also rewound the water jug problem to figure it out, I think there is an editing mistake in that scene as the amount of water in one of the jugs changes iirc.

Die Hard With A Vengeance- Yet another movie I considered for my list that ultimately fell short. Would crack my Top 120 though. This was a surprise. I had no idea DHWAV was so popular on PW. I got completely no sold when I mentioned it being my favorite Die Hard film a time or two. I liked this movie for the same reasons as UT and 🤯 and my story is similar to PI in that this was my first (and most memorable) Die Hard film*. Bruce wearing the inflammatory sign and the amusing Jesus/Hey Zeus mix up are these scenes that stand out in my mind. The villain's "Simon Says" gimmick could have been cheesy (and maybe it is?) but it worked for me when I watched it. *While I know I must have seen it at least once, I'm drawing a blank on the original Die Hard. All I know about it comes through pop culture osmosis (Bruce's goofy catchphrase + the Christmas movie debate) and PW (Alan Rickman was apparently a top notch villain). Does this make me a bad person? Probably.

Already a surprise. Although given how many of y'all love action movies maybe it isn't so shocking.
Didn't make my list but it's definitely a fun movie. I haven't seen in it quite a while. I should fix that. Its probably my favourite of the series too.

Label mine DC with a number (DCU for pre-flashpoint, DCnU for post), Marvel with a number, and a few select massive series, like Daredevil and IDW's TMNT, have their own long box labeled with their name (both'll be full in the next couple years). Though for some reason I never did the same with Flash and Green Lantern, maybe because it's more than a box already, so no point in putting in the effort. Since it's all alphabetical, and I know everything I buy, it's pretty easy from there to find what I'm looking for, worst case scenario I'm off a box (since they're always shifting) and I just got to the next box over. Most stuff that isn't Marvel, DC, or TMNT/Zim/Usagi Yojimbo...I get in collected form and have on a book shelf. Foos

Mean Girls is great , not quite great enough to make my list but it was close.
For a movie that you would assume is a chick flick or whatever , it's so much more and definitely a movie that anyone can enjoy. The comedy is great and has so many quotes and this one makes me die laughing almost every time.
It's the only great thing Lohan has ever done , introduced us to McAdams as one of the more iconic villains of this generation. The supporting cast is awesome too with Fey , Meadows , Caplan , Seyfriend (LOVE HER) and Chabert.
Cool that it made it towards the end of the list. Makes sense being one of the more referenced and iconic of it's time.
It's on everyone's Mount Rushmore I think. The only one worth discussion is probably McAdams.
McAdams: Mean Girls , Wedding Crashers , Spotlight , The Notebook
Game Night and Southpaw on the outside looking in.

I did not yet get to Mean Girls on my list but it would have made it. It's a very re-watchable movie and if it's on I usually watch at least a few minutes. Probably would have fallen in my 80's or 90's though.
The ESPN line always gets me.
Mean Girls launched the careers of Rachel McAdams & Amanda Siegfried, but sadly we all know this was pretty much the highlight of Lindsey Lohan's career. Lacey Chabert is enjoying a good career doing Hallmark movies. Trust me. She's in every 3rd one.

Long winded masterpieces? Why can’t there be room for an incredibly popular teen comedy that has forever engrained itself into the pop culture lexicon. I mean it didn’t make my list either but I don’t find it egregious that it showed up at #99. I stand by my stance that a movie like Mean Girls is better than a lot of pseudo prestige films. Films like say.... The Irishmen.
