DiCaprio's Rushmore is really difficult. I guess Titanic is a lock, the other three spots can be contested by a number of movies. Inception, Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, The Departed. What's Eating Gilbert Grape? as a breakthrough role, although Titanic may have that ground covered. Catch me If You Can.

James Cameron- Terminator, Terminator 2, Titanic and Aliens. True Lies and Avatar for Honorable Mentions. Avatar is an absolute stone cold lock, alongside T2 and Titanic, and will be even more so when the 37 sequels get released. According to Guinness, it is the inflation-adjusted second-highest grossing film ever, ahead of Titanic in third. Monstrously big film. Fourth spot is up for grabs between The Terminator and Aliens. I'd plump for The Terminator, as it is different enough from T2, and it is the film that made Cameron's name. Aliens misses out. Leonardo DiCaprio- The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, Titanic and The Revenant (first Oscar Win) You could sub a half dozen films for The Revenant though. Inception has to be in there - it is just too beloved. It is likely in there before The Departed, let alone The Revenant. Hell no. I don't give a damn how much money Avatar made, Aliens is a flat out better movie. It ain't coming off. Neither is the Terminator, as it is the movie that MADE James Cameron. I only put Revenant on Leo's list only because of the Oscar win. You could easily put Inception or the Aviator on there. Or Django Unchained.

It is not my fault you fell in love with the first slasher you saw and massively overrate it (# 1...what a joke) It's not even top 5 in it's own genre. I stand by my opinion, Scream is a watered down flaccid self-parody of a slasher that pales compared to the real thing. And it’s not my fault that it apparently was too smart for you and your boomer friends to appreciate? Or that you have to make dumb claims and say it was akin to Blair Witch to try and make a point , because you have zero credibility in your argument. If you don’t like it then fine , but most of what you claim is nonsense.

See and I have a hard time even considering TCM a true slasher but I get why it belongs , Black Christmas deserves as much credit as well for creating part of the template. People who don't watch old horror movies though don't understand that most don't start off as the bloody gore fests they imagine. TCM had little gore. Halloween didn't either. Original Friday is incredibly tame to what it became as well. Nightmare was a little more gory. That's why Scream more or less targeted the never ending sequels that never deviated from the same tropes and were far more violent. Scream was also pretty violent and was intended to be more so because the sensors jumped it. It paid homage to the originals while poking fun at the stupidity of of some of the silliness of the franchises. The Real LT still just makes up half of his points though. Scream ruining the genre and bringing it to a dead period is just ignorance. Also comparing it to Blair Witch. I still stand by , after recent rewatches of the whole Friday franchise minus Jason X (worst movie ever maybe) that Part Four might be the best of the series. Part 6 is up there as well. Both legitimately great slashers. 4 6 1 [gap] 3 2 [gap] 7 8 [huge gap] 5 9 10 I think that's my ratings of the franchise. Don't know why I got on this tangent , but it's rare IMO that sequels surpass the original and I think it happened twice in the Friday series. I should go find that Shin thread he did. I think there is a little bit of truth to both sides of the Scream argument. It was a shining light during the 90's down period but to say it reignited the genre is a bit of a stretch My Friday rankings just for fun: 4 6 3 2 1 Freddy vs Jason remake 5 7 8 X 9 I just got the fantastic Scream Factory boxset (too late though for the pre order posters ) which I'm going to dive into this week. Apparently though there are a couple of errors with some sound missing in Jason X and incomplete added footage to the JGTH director's cut. I've really warmed to 5 over the years while X has some pretty good kills and Uber-Jason is cool which saves it. Titantic, I was in the middle of the hoopla as I saw it opening weekend with a date. I then saw the two tape VHS and haven't watched it since. It's a stunning achievement and was massive in pop culture but it's most definitely not an ass planter for me. You do realize that the highest grossing horror movie in the year before Scream was Godzilla vs Destroyah right? And it make less than 1/4 of what Scream made - Scream literally quadrupled the highest grossing horror movie of the year before ... because the genre was dead. The last slasher to even be the highest grossing horror movie was Freddy 4 almost ten years prior. True horror movies were flopping. Hell even our beloved New Nightmare was a giant flop. Love though that we have the same Top 2. Friday Six is such an underrated gem - a legit great slasher movie with a perfect tone and the right blend of comedy and horror.

Aviator is a fucking masterpiece by DiCaprio too. Does not get the love it deserves. I'll yet again agree with The Kid on this.
For me being an non-Leo fan his Mount Rushmore for me would be: Aviator, Inception, The Man in the Iron Mask, Blood Diamond, Gatsby (okay that one mostly because of the set and costumes).

Saw the first Pirates. Got dragged by a friend from school. Surprisingly good. Kinda like Fury Road... a movie I had no interest in turned out really good. Thanks fellow human! Never cared enough to see the sequels. Titanic, I remember having the 2 tape VHS. Remember turning it on just for the boob scene. Don't think I've ever seen it in full. I tried, but never could. Has some iconic scenes for sure. KOTW... the steamy handprint... the drawing... yeah. Took a long time for me not to see Leo as a sissy pretty boy because of this movie. Now I look up to him as the pinnacle of being a man: only dating 25 yr old or less models. Livin; the dream~

How many heads do you think is on Mount Rushmore? I think she made this mistake before. I think she's from the future where Trump's addition is on there.

My mom's favorites are dropping like flies. First Dirty Dancing. Then Pirates of the Caribbean. And now... Titanic- Considered for my list. Would have finished around #125. UT and others have mentioned how huge this movie was. But with great hype comes great backlash....A backlash lead by people in my demographic who dismissed it as an overhyped chick flick with a predictable ending. I honestly knew far more Titanic haters than Titanic fans. Perhaps for that reason I leaned towards my peer group and had no interest in seeing it in theaters... Fast forward a few months to when it came out on video. My mom, a lifelong Titanic buff who had already seen it in theaters, rented or bought it (I forget which) asap. I must have had nothing better to do that night so I sat down intending to hatewatch it for only a few minutes until something more interesting came along. I soon got hooked for real. From that night on I became something of a Titanic apologist, forever telling my hater friends "it's not that bad." Major pop culture influence. Multiple iconic scenes. Some memorable characters. Made Leo a star.

I enjoy the Scream franchise but I haven’t rewatched it since the last film came out, so didn’t even come close to making my top 100. Though I do find it a must see for horror fans.
I have never heard of Throne of Blood before.
And I of course had POTC curse of the black pearl on my list. Was number 10, was hoping it would rate higher but just stoked it made the list! I really don’t understand why anyone could hate POTC they are just super fun films - can be a bit corny but I think that’s the main charm of them.
Titanic also made my list. Masterpiece of film. Leo and Kate’s chemistry is amazing and while the ending is a bit cringey/cliche. I mean she got married and had kids, yet when she died she chose to go back to Jack on the titantic - that’s the ‘heaven/afterlife’ she chose. I mean super super cute but the husband in the afterlife gets to be alone forever haha

Hell no. I don't give a damn how much money Avatar made, Aliens is a flat out better movie. It ain't coming off. Neither is the Terminator, as it is the movie that MADE James Cameron. Yes, Aliens is a far better movie, but Avatar cannot not be on there. With Ridley Scott making the Alien prequels, the franchise feels more and more belonging to him. Avatar is not just bigger, but it is all James Cameron. By the time it is all said and done, it will have taken up close to 20 years, consuming the latter stage of his career, with the 4 sequels planned for release in Dec 2022, 2024, 2026 and 2028. When the average person thinks James Cameron, they think of Arnie as The Terminator, Titanic and Avatar. Avatar is a stupid movie. It’s beautiful. But it’s absolutely stupid. Didn’t it only make so much money because of the timing of 3D movies? I'm not a fan of it. It was a great cinematic experience, as the 3D was fantastic, like looking out at a landscape, rather than a gimmicky arm coming out of a screen. But it wasn't a great film and I have no desire to revisit it. I have always said I have no interest in the sequels, but I'm sure by the time the promotion comes around and we've heard enough about the new technologies being pioneered, I'll be tempted to go for the cinematic experience again. It did only make quite so much money due to higher ticket prices for 3D. But it still sold a massive number of cinema tickets. Only around 80% of what Titanic did, so it wasn't Titanic huge, but it lands right in between Jaws and Snow White for tickets sold as far as US films are concerned. In terms of Western films and "known" ticket sales (there is a lack of available numbers from some countries): That is rarefied air. Massive film. ------------------------ Titanic has me thinking about big songs to go along with a big film. 1991: Brian Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do it For You - from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 1992: Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You - from The Bodyguard 1994: Wet Wet Wet - Love is All Around - from Four Weddings and a Funeral 1997: Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On - from Titanic OK, Wet Wet Wet was just a UK deal, but it was #1 here for a 15 weeks straight. Some radio stations banned playing it. The other 3 are all possibly in the top 10 (some disputed numbers on Wiki) highest selling singles of all time. Inescapable songs. All for films in a 6-year stretch.

Come and Get Your Love is the GOTG song. Also with Strobe on Cameron , Avatar belongs on there for it's sheer amount of success. I don't like Avatar in the slightest but Terminator 1 or 2 being on there is perfectly fine.

I'm only in the Come Get Your Love camp because I prefer the song. I can see lt's point, especially since Hooked was used on the trailers and told you that this was going to be a more light-hearted movie than other Marvel movies.
GOGT2 is more difficult. Fox On The Run was the trailer song, Mr. Blue Sky was the opener, Father & Son was the closer and there were two amazing set pieces set to The Chain and Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang while Brandy You're A Fine Girl was an important plot point.

Vertigo was my #6. Personally I have a deep appreciation for the movie because I had to write a paper on it and the further I looked into the movie, the more I felt rewarded. There's probably a 100 movies that do it just as well if not better than Vertigo, but this was the movie that I had to cover and it allowed me to find even more joy in movies and cinematic language. It's one of those movies that taught me the distinction between a narrative and a story. The narrative of the movie is fairly plain, but the story is incredibly rich and there is so much to unpack about the characters. I also like movies that switch genres half-way through. Take Parasite for instance which starts off as a Black Comedy and ends up becoming a Thriller. Vertigo starts off as a fairly ho-hum mystery film that ends in tragedy but then it evolves into this twisted Psychological Thriller that makes you question everything and is the real meat and potatos of the movie. Stewart gives one of his best performances and the ending sequence still gives me chills. I found the power dynamics between Stewart and Novak's characters interesting, particularly how Stewart ends up wanting these qualities of a person who does not exist and has the depth of a 2D model while Novak is so lost she's willing to fit the mould. I feel like I've been guilty of this on both fronts.

Citizen Kane is a bottom 100 movie. I'm serious. Boring trite garbage. The cinephiles among us should explain what they see in this movie.
Vertigo is very good, but not top tier Hitchcock for me. Didn't make my list.
