Edited to Belinda Carlisle's Heaven is a place on Earth. TK hates the account and has spazzed out legally more than once to shut it down.
Anyway, to my point and as much as some people want to deny it, the in-ring product at the lower end of the card needs work. Real work.

Was there an actual clip though nath45? Or just a 'pick your poison' type of deal?
I find it very rich that fans have been able to laugh at Pro Wrestling for some 30 odd years, even making websites to document all the shlock from the WWE, WCW and TNA. However the moment anyone goes against AEW, it's toxic.
Can dish it out, but can't take it.

Luchadores landing on their heads, the same kid hurting someone every time he wrestles, Marina Shafir forgetting what wrestling is and why she's there.. Every clip is introduced by Roman Reigns " AACCCKKNNOOWWLEDDGE ME! " followed by ' Heaven is a place on Earth ' playing as AEW's finest fall over each other.

We talked about this in the General Wrestling thread but Tony Khan is going off now, so might as well put it here. Absolutely embarrassing.
This is all because the founder of STARDOM was fired for potentially working undercover for WWE, Rossy Ogawa.

Maybe instead of posting memes on Twitter, TK should be figuring out why a midget wrestling promotion outdrew Collision in the TV ratings.

Context for Tony' stuff is Rossy was fired from Stardom for trying to set up a deal with WWE behind Bushiroad's back. Tony def has a right to be upset here given his loose deal with Bushiroad.

You're getting closer to calling it all misinformation and excusing the fact, TK has a real lack of maturity.
He's on a big stage, (ok.. maybe a medium one) and needs to start acting like it.

A post on wreddit just made me angry.
“Malakai Black’s last singles match was against Penta in JUNE 2022.”
That is unforgivable. The only way that is ok is if he wants them to fight as a group, in which case fine. But oh my god why. It’s a miracle he re-signed with the company.

It’s a miracle he re-signed with the company. Was the initial deal only short-term? I always thought he signed a long term deal that kept him in place till 2026/27 and I can't seem to find anything to contradict it. In fairness to AEW, he hasn't wrestled a singles match period since September of 2022. Still, I find it crazy they didn't allow him and Brody King to go on a tear in the tag division through out 2022. I thought that was the direction they were going in and thought you could have some real money matches there but it just seemed like they took an eternity to recruit Julia and lost their way.

I won't.
One of the big take-aways from AEW's house show experiment was how bad Britt Baker and Anna Jay were in the ring and their work was massively riffed on. Julia's moonsault seems to be getting worse over time and Thunder went from one of the most over women in the industry to hiding in the toilets because of how rotten she was in the ring.
Just about everyone on that roster could do with some reps. The issue is that instead of giving them a platform where they can work through their kinks, they either have squash matches or they're on AEW television where the expectation is to have a PPV worthy match. It just leads to a lot of sloppy work and that's from both the men and the women. Especially since if you want to be noticed on the show, you have to take more risks.

I believe that may have been Miro, who was also figured into the disgruntled ex-WWE guys want out story.
This was from Tony, it sounds like they signed 5-6 year deals and would have done so prior to Brawl Out.

Britt I can’t explain but is good on TV. No idea what was up with her in those matches. Anna Jay was bad yeah but those house shows were how long ago? Anna has been fine since and getting better (despite having fewer matches for some reason).
Julia’s moonsault I don’t get. I think it is a confidence thing. She fucked it up once and now can’t stop. Time will tell. And she has improved in literally every other aspect.
Rosa’s regression was because of backstage conflicts, not her in-ring performance. She got unfairly accused of sandbagging one time and she spiraled after an untimely injury while all this was going on. That’s a personnel issue if anything (something we have all discussed on here forever)

Because I love piling on AEW, and to clarify I think they're better now, but they were awful to begin with.
Brit, I can't remember much of. Because she's been missing in action for God knows how long now, and even then I can't remember an actual match that stands out as either good or pathetically bad.
Considering the bloat of his roster, TK should maybe buy a warehouse some where and pay half his roster to just go there 5 days a week a just train instead of having a these jabronis on the road. Cut Ring of Irrelevancy completely and just focus on maintaining a consistency across all matches. Best foot forward.

Even so, it's a low bar considering girls like Skye Blue, Anna Jay and Julia Hart had barely wrestled before. Of course they're going to improve, the only way was up, but even so they're still clearly green and have plenty to work on in the ring. By those standards, Jade also improved but clearly this is still unnatural to her.
As far as Thunder goes, either she's so bad at Pro Wrestling her fellow wrestlers and fans online thought she was sandbagging, or she really is that unprofessional. Either way this trip to AEW has exposed her and whatever good will she had built for herself on NWA has diminished.
I don't think Britt's ever been consistent. In fact outside of the Thunder Rosa matches where she had just as much trouble setting up a table as she did wrestling her opponent, hardly anybody walked away talking about how great her matches were. If anything, people couldn't wait for the division to move on from her. That Anna Jay match wasn't just some anamoly, she's constantly trying to do these convoluted spots to compete with the boys and neither her nor her opponent know how to work it.

she's constantly trying to do these convoluted spots to compete with the boys and neither her nor her opponent know how to work it. That's a point I've been making for a year, across two threads now. Rather than pile on, I'll offer a counterpoint. There was a fun match on Main Event this week with Chelsea Green and Tegan Nox. At one point they just threw hands, and while it won't make Dave Meltzer make a mess in his Sunday best, it was one of the more consistent matches from any of the girls that I've seen in months. It was KISS - Keep it simply stupid, all the way through and it works. Why someone like Julia keeps going to the top is beyond me, and is eventually going to lead to questions of neglect from the producers if someone is seriously hurt. But on Jade. She doesn't need to work like a luchadore, she's a foot taller than half the roster so she should be watching some " big men " matches and letting the shorties bump off her.

The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter features insights from Dave Meltzer, who highlighted the ongoing sentiments within AEW. Meltzer’s commentary shed light on the complex dynamics at play, noting that while the talent camaraderie has shown signs of improvement, frustration persists among many wrestlers. Despite the financial security, there is a prevailing desire among the roster to showcase their skills and receive meaningful opportunities.
The issue of limited opportunities for a vast roster has led to inherent frustration, as the majority of performers are driven by a genuine passion for their craft and a desire to actively contribute to the company’s success. This sentiment is further compounded by the observations of smaller attendance at recent shows, contributing to a sense of dissatisfaction among the talent.
" When we mentioned last week about morale being the best it has been in a long time, it was noted that the talent is getting along more than it has. But with so many wrestlers under contract and only so many that can be pushed, inherently there is going to be frustration because most on the roster are not people just happy to not show their stuff and perform just because they are making good money. There are exceptions to that rule but when you put together a roster of high level performers they are going to want to perform. There is also frustration from a lot of circles since talent comes to the shows and sees the smaller crowds since the start of the year. "

Additionally, Meltzer’s observations emphasised a sense of disconnect between the positive outlook projected by Tony Khan and the perceived decline in the company’s overall popularity. While the leadership highlights increased revenues and ratings, there is a growing belief among the talent that substantial changes are necessary to reverse the perceived decline in AEW’s standing.
Khan always paints a positive picture about the company being stronger due to increased revenues, or bringing up ratings, and there’s the feeling that popularity is declining overall and changes have to be made to turn it around and he’s acting like everything is fine.

Fascinating discussion about the state of AEW's homegrown female talent. I do lean towards Big Pete's side although he was too harsh. Skye Blue and Julia Hart have improved tremendously, they are far less green than you're suggesting. Yeah Julia has had problems with her moonsault recently but let's not judge her entire credibility from one move. She has a tremendous character and knows how to play it in the ring. Anna Jay and Britt Baker, not so much. Britt Baker had awesome star quality which AEW helped her to develop, and I would say she improved quite a bit from where she began, but she never got beyond "good". Anna Jay...she works hard, but pro-wrestling doesn't work for her. They do give off a "diva" vibe of being afraid to run the ropes properly and generally not moving like athletes. What about Kris Statlander? I don't know if she's homegrown AEW but her journey from goofy alien to serious powerhouse wrestler is a compelling one and for a while she was must-watch. Unfortunately she suffered from poor booking, she gave Jade Cargill her only loss but that somehow felt irrelevant when she was quickly brushed aside for Julia. Thunder went from one of the most over women in the industry to hiding in the toilets because of how rotten she was in the ring. Is this really true? I know she was bullied but was it really because she was bad in the ring? Her stock did fall tremendously since joining AEW and she was exposed but is she entirely to blame?

I think they gave Julia the TBS title when they did. While the fans were supportive of KS, they wanted Hart to be the champ. I did too. That's no knock on Stat but showed how much they wanted Julia to have her run. I like Statlander's storylines & character progression outside of her title reign a little bit more than I did while she was champion. The matches were solid/great & she was still able to maintain her likeability. I was happy when TR won the AEW title but she seems snakebitten. I look forward to seeing what is in store for Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter. While Britt's wrestling is hit- & miss I want to see how & if her character evolves.

Is this really true? I know she was bullied but was it really because she was bad in the ring? Her stock did fall tremendously since joining AEW and she was exposed but is she entirely to blame? Even before she reportedly broke Jamie Hayter's nose and hid herself in the bathroom, she was getting buried for sandbagging Marina Schafir online. Ever since then if she had a questionable match like against Miyu Yamashita, fans would speculate whether she was being unprofessional or if they had been deceived the entire time. The jury is still out, Julia is only 22, Skye Blue is barely any older so naturally they're going to be clunky, inconsistent and lacking in the finer details. Stat had some indie buzz and was considered not just one of the best women's wrestlers, but wrestlers period coming through. So it's difficult to say because there's been flashes, but then they sidelined her to give your favourite goth girl a run with the Jade containment belt. She feels completely under and they're going to have to make some sense of this Willow-Stokely-Goth Girls storyline soon.
