A day late watching the Giants game - it was a holiday here. Another very competitive performance but with the underlying reality that they were never going to win. I've been very pleasantly surprised how good our defence has been all season, Patrick Graham has done a fantastic job. They made Brady look pretty average all night long. Of particular note was how many great pursuit plays the DBs made, a number of times they got skinned off the line only to use eye discipline to watch the receiver rather than look back for the ball, and breakup the pass with perfect timing.

On the less positive side of things, I'm ready to give up on Daniel Jones now. I think it's important that the Giants are bold like Arizona were with Rosen and Murray and not waste another year convincing themselves that he can be the guy. Firing Gettleman and bringing in a new GM will hopefully help with that. It's hard not to root for Jones but we've seen enough to know who he is as a player, there's no signs that he's going to be able to reduce his turnover problem, and most concerning from this game was his lack of accuracy - the deep play ability which has been one thing he could hang his hat on completely vanished this week.

Not to go all Rags but I knew the refs would pick up that flag on the DPI against Winfield given they'd been making tough calls on the Giants all night (a bad holding call on Zeitler, a ridiculous pick call on Toilolo, use of helmet on Yiadom when it was the Bucs receiver who intiated contact, and a harsh DPI on Bradberry). If it was Brady's throw with the game on the line you could bet your house the penalty would be called.

What I watched was this tantalizing potential combined with all the bad throws of a career backup. I agree with you @hr, they gotta move on. I thought the broadcast did a pretty good job at identifying how PI or not Jones just missed on that 2 pt conversion. He was late and threw it inside. He needed to throw it sooner and further wise and both ways it’s a tie game.

On that note I'm glad Louis Riddick seems to finally be settling in as a commentator. It's taken him a few weeks to settle in but he made a few really nice pieces of analysis like on the different personnel packages the Bucs were using and the tells from them, and also on the Giants defensive backs technique.

I watched the play a bunch of times and I really don't know why he flinched on throwing it earlier as it was pretty clear that Winfield wasn't in the right spot to cover Lewis. The reason why this felt like a pretty seminal game to me was that he made pretty much every type of mistake possible, overthrows, bad reads, poor anticipation, not throwing the ball away - it's not even like there's one or two things you can point to that are clear areas of improvement. All that was with one of the best protection games I can remember seeing from the Giants in recent times, the establishment of a decent run game, and none of the receivers making any egregious mistakes.

You're just not going to win many games when your QB turns the ball over a couple of times a week (and he was lucky not to be picked at least two more times by the Bucs) and there's no evidence that will slow down. Whenever Ryan Leaf's name comes up you know you're in trouble.

Looks like couple more players are out both Trent Williams & Brandon Aiyuk are ruled out since they are close contact with Bourne so far the game is still scheduled this is stupid fuck 2020
