Shotzi Blackheart has been signed. She’s really grown over the last two years or so. This is a good pick up.

In the sense that signing talented performers isa  good thing yeah, but will they actually use her? That's the question.

Pretty fun Bianca vs Dakota match tonight, Bianca keeps on busting out new athletic spots such as her running SSP tonight. 

I’m a big Bianca fan but not really sure why she had to halt Dakota’s comeback momentum by beating her clean.

I loved Dakota Kai vs. Bianca Bela that match was so fun. Both wrestlers really brought their best.

Rhea is such a star in the making.

I like the fact BB beat Kai. As a person that would like to see DK possibly go for the title, a little adversity makes that story even better.

So anyways, I'm getting caught up on recent NXT.

NXT - Oct. 2nd

First off, I really enjoyed the match between Io Shirai and Mia Yim, though I suppose that shouldn't be surprising. I know a few people, on here aren't fans of Mia Yim, but I like her work and Io Shirai, well Io Shirai is (in my opinion) the best female talent currently on NXT (and quite possibly the WWE as a whole), so they were always gonna deliver for me.

As for Candice LeRae/Shayna Baszler, the match wasn't bad, it just wasn't nearly as good as the women's match from earlier in the night. Also, I know I've said it before (as well as a few others), but man I'm so over Shayna's title reign, here's hoping they only kept the title on her this long, so Dakota Kai could return and detrone her.

NXT - Oct. 9th

Rhea Ripley/Aliyah was a match I guess, went exactly how it should have. Ripley making quick work of her opponent, loved the ending, thought that was pretty cool. Bianca Belair vs. Dakoto Kai was good fun, and while I would have liked, to of seen the captain of Team Kick pick up the win, I can't complain about the EST of NXT going over either.

Apparently, Scarlett Bordeaux was supposed to go straight to TV as a valet for Damien Priest but he refused. Don’t know how legit that is cuz he doesn’t seem like he’d have much pull.

Io vs Kayden was fun if a little clunky. The Rhea/Io stuff just makes me want Shayna's reign to end so we can get to actually interesting fresh feuds.

Tegan vs Taynara was fun and Tegan's recent work has really impressed me. I would rather Tegan and Dakota feud with the Highes than Ronda/Shayna's lackeys.

Team Kick vs the Horsies wasn't much but I am really glad to see the tag titles being used in NXT, it was a big let down when they had Sasha and Bayley cut a promo and then never have anything come of it.

I was a bit thrown when I saw the Kabuki Warriors being heels as I missed the part where they turned, but I think it's a positive move. Now they're all heels and appearing on the same brand could we see Asuka, Kairi and Io team up - maybe at War Games?

Candice/Tegan/Dakota vs Horsewomen vs Kabuki Warriors/Io is my current hope for War Games. Though I'm not sure Marina and Duke are even close to being ready for a big time match like that, though all others involved could easily carry that match.

This is the coolest thing I've seen in wrestling in a LONG time.

What a perfect combination of gimmick, entrance mannerisms, and theme song. Even Poppy herself kills it, perfect synchronisation with Io. Usually when a band plays out a wrestler they just stand on the ramp, but they did that little extra.

Io vs Candice 2 was good but a small step down from their takeover match which is understandable. Io's entrance with Poppy was great though and she really comes off as a star.

The tag title match was good also but a little too one-sided for my tastes. Kairi and Asuka's facial expressions as heels are gold.

The war games match should be pretty good especially if they're able to hide Marina and Jessamyn.

Cornette is probably having a coronary, but that Halloween Battle Royal from the Live Event was a hoot.

Shayna coming in as Darth Vader and using the 'force' to eliminate everyone.

He probably won't know about it unless someone tells him. But he probably would since he does seem to like Shayna.

I don’t really want to see Io team with Asuka/Kairi purely because that’s typical ‘let’s team them together because they’re Japanese’ WWE. I feel like they’ve done a good enough job of building Io as a heel away from the usual Japan/Asian style they usually book - she stands on her own as a heel with her own reasons, compared with the her turn Asuka has just taken.

I've actually really liked Asuka and Kairi as heels so far. Yes the "foreign language/cultures = evil/boo them" stuff is eye roll worthy, and there was no set up to why they tunred heels. But overall I think their performances and character work have been really entertaining, even if they're having to make something out of nothing. The green mist for example, yes it's a major cliche to have a Japanese wrestler use it, but Asuka ahs really made it her own and it really adds to her look when she uses it.  I also like Kairi's new heel look. 

Don’t get me wrong, I think they’ve done a great job with both Asuka and Kairi, but they and Io are different styles of heel, I just think it would be a great shame to push the two sides together in typical WWE fashion ‘coz foreign/Asian’ that they usually do.

Taynara vs Santanna was pretty fun and Taynara keeps improving with her intensity especially with her kicks and knees, but Santanna gives me Tara/Victoria vibes with how she telegraphs everything..

Dakota vs Shayna was pretty solid especially the apron kick counter spot. I wonder if they're going to go with turning Dakota heel?

I thought Shayna vs Dakota really blew the first match out of the water. Having them back to back like that really enhanced how much faster, smoother and more realistic their match was and really showed up Taynara and Santana as two girls "playing" wrestler.

I don't really understand what they're trying to achieve with Dakota now. I'm guessing she joins Shayna's team but that hardly makes her a heel when Rhea and Tegan were shit friends. Mia turning would have made more sense to me because Dakota is actually likable.

Rewatching the first match again I see what you mean with it being clearly inferior to Dakota/Shayna. I still think Taynara had a couple nice moments.

 

Did you guys see the former Robbie E, Robert Stone scouting Taynara from the front row? I guess they’re entering a program together. At the live shows, Taynara is managed by Stokely Hathaway or whatever his name is now so maybe they’ll both vie to manage her.

If they turn Dakota heel that would be so dumb LOL TNA level dumb.

Asuka and Io were together in Triple Tails and Io and Sane were together in Threedom.  The reason a lot of people want them together is they all worked together before WWE in Neo and Stardom.  Get them all together and they can do some amazing stuff. 

Also debut Io alone and she will not get air time after one feud.  If they did not have a story for Asuka, they will not have one for Io.

Have they had any moments on tv where Tegan and Rhea acknowledged the brutality of Rhea on Tegan during their Mae Young Classic match?

NASTY spots in tonight’s main event with Io and Mia. I love the idea of involving KLR in War Games and I loved the image of her, Io and Bianca on the ladder.

I didn’t see the other match but I guess Aliyah got f’d up too?

Got to give it up to Mia, we complain a lot about her but she was a warrior tonight, continuing the match after getting busted open would have been enough but that bump she took was crazy - one of the biggest I can recall seeing in a long time.

Dangerous night all around for the ladies - Aliyah got her nose busted by Xia's tornado kick.

The ladder match started a bit slowly but really got better as it went along, really fun overall. {Props to Mia for taking some really nasty bumps. I'm glad they didn't turn Dakota as I feel that would have hurt her character. I wonder if they're going to have her replace Mia in the wargames and use the last bump Mia took as a way of writing her off.
