Was going to start a Favorite Pay Per Views thread when I realized I don't recall us ever running a Favorite PPV countdown. Any takers? We could also include Network specials and closed circuit offerings if you want. I'm thinking Top 15 lists if the interest is there.

Summerslam 02 coming for Mania 17. Having relatively recently rewatched WrestleMan X-Seve, SummerSlam 2002 is EASILY the better show start to finish.

I'm thinking 15 might be too narrow. Pretty sure I can get to 100. What's a good compromise? 50? 50 is way too many for my liking. They all start blending together at a certain point. But if the interest is there... I could probably do like 25. More acceptable. I'm willing to raise my ideal number from 15 to 20 but I'll see what the rest of PW wants to do before I make a final decision. Fwiw I have 13 locks and had a bunch of PPVs fighting for the final two spots. Which is why I'm happy to raise it to 20 :lol: Remember Network specials and closed circuit extravaganzas are included.

If any of the 1.1ers are deserving of their own "Austin and Rock" moment, it can only be the Fairy Tail you spun. A villain move that turned #heel halfway. Fairy Tail also works as a skinemax ppv name. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Just realized at least one of the early Lawlermanias was technically a pay per view in that I literally charged people to watch it :lol: If memory serves we drew a crowd of 7 or 8 with 4 paid. That can't be much worse than the numbers latter day TNA and random low level indie pay per views draw. Just can't remember whether it was I, III, or both. Not gonna lie. I'm tempted to vote for a Lawlermania or two. And I'm definitely doing it if PW decides on lists of 50.

An early bird already sent me a list of 20 so I guess that's what we're going with.
Rules
Send me a list of your 20 favorite pay per views/network specials/closed circuit extravaganzas.
Tentative deadline will be Monday October 11 at 11:59 EST. That gives everybody two weeks.
I hope to finalize my own list tonight to avoid being influenced by other lists. Speaking of 20, the Wrestlemania of that number will be on the bottom half of my list.

Now is there a case to be made for shows with a handful of excellent matches/moments being a better show than a top to bottom "good" card?
WM30 for instance. An excellent opener (not a goat but the next level down), Brock/Taker and then the triple threat (which let's be honest if not for the chance to erase Benoit's Mania moment they probably still woulda down RKO/Dave despite backlash. Beginning Middle And End. Isn't that what makes Summerslam 02 and 17 so great. Yeah you could argue their down points are still better than most matches... but are they? Like is Eddie/Edge and Jericho/Flair what make it better or were the HIGHS so high that it makes average trash seem better than it is? Now I've worked myself into a shoot, was arguing against those goat shows being the standard bearers and now I think I just cemented them.
