Main event of Triplemania: Tijuana was just announced…
KENNY OMEGA VS EL HIJO DE VIKINGO II
And yes it is for the AAA Mega Championship
EDIT: the show is July 15th, same day as the AEW house show in Calgary. Guess Omega won’t be there.
He better be in Edmonton on the 5th god damn it!!

Not shocking Triplemania went with that. Likely was why AEW got so much Vikingo. Curious if Kenny works it Japanese style or they do it Mexican style.

All of the good will Chavo did sticking up for his family member over Vickie got outdone by calling out Rey Mysterio for his Eddie Guerrero tribute. Just a shit thing to say.
I really wanna hear Konnan just bury Chavo after this one.

If you go to around 1:37:00 here, Chavo talks about running into a fan who used to prey that he'd die every night for doing what he did to Rey in 2006. So then Chavo talks about it, gets on a roll and works the kayfabe into a shoot - which fans have bought into hook, line and sinker.
Chavo had a short-lived podcast that Rey was on back in 2020 or so and they had nothing but love for one another.

Yep, he's working. Might be a hint of truth in that -- I can see a scenario where Chavo feels slighted and forgotten since he's Eddie's blood and (effectively) brother for his whole life but the history books say Rey was his BFF

So we lost another important member of the IWC the other day.
Dean Rasmussen aka DEAN of DVDR Wrestling passed away on Thursday. They've been one of the most dedicated fan forums over the world, so if you're anything like me, you've duck your head over and often seen DEAN provide his takes. He really enjoyed the product until the end and I used to love the reviews he'd do with Rob Naylor back in the mid-00s.
His daughter set up a GoFundMe for the family with a $5000 goal. They actually hit 27K with a former DVDR member a CoachTonyK dropping a donation.
RIP

Did you just ask who is Cham Pain. Well, let the man tell you himself!!! Also he is very, very likely to be on TV in 15 minutes at the Firm Deletion. Cham Pain is one of the Omega OG's. Good friend of Matt Hardy and appears a lot in Matt's stuff, and local wrestling in the NC area.
Also he was the one who look the infamous pedigree from HHH of the top of the head. Marty thought he was taking a tiger powerbomb and went for the flip. HHH did the move as normal, and Marty got spiked mid flip getting his neck fucked up.
Here is his classic "who is Cham Pain" promo.
Year of the Rabbit going hard, cannot wait for this.

Thanks for reminding me of the legendary Lance vs. DVDVR feud. Lance was persona non grata at DVDVR for years after criticizing the critics. That thread is a trip in its own right. Kilgore Stuart sighting! Also popped for the AWF mention. Even if I mostly agreed with Lance at the time* the Thrillseekers sure were thin skinned. We mustn't forget about the time Jericho QUIT THE INTERNET~! over his match with RVD at KOTR 02 not getting enough stars. *It's entirely possible I threw something upon seeing Triple H ranked so low c nailed it on Cham Pain. I'm sure you've seen the Pedigree clip. He also had a run as the Dupps manager in ECW and wrestled MVP on WWE PPV early in Porter's run. May have even been MVP’s debut match.

Thanks for reminding me of the legendary Lance vs. DVDVR feud. Lance was persona non grata at DVDVR for years after criticizing the critics. That thread is a trip in its own right. Kilgore Stuart sighting! YES!!!! It's so funny that within the first few posts people are ready to fight every Stuart point. Dude immediately calling Stuart "A kid with a VCR." You can tell everyone had already had it with him. Stuart, great message board heel, without even trying. Heat magnet everywhere he went. Gotta respect it. This was a nice reminder that Lance Strorm's stormwrestling posts were always great back in those days. Very pre-social media, I would argue Storm was the best internet figure at the time (discounting Tom Zenk and Dynamite Kid's hilariously hateful personas on their own message boards, I just happen to find pieces of shit without a filter extremely funny). Unique, thoughtful opinions on everything happening. Even when I disagreed, you had to respect Lance making his case. He even had a whole training regiment he put out for free (I remember he was very anti-peanut butter as part of nutrition, no idea why I remember that). Lance was (is?) a true poster. Lance has wrestling brain, though, which isn't a bad thing, but often leads to disconnect between viewers and his own opinions. Like, who gives a fuck if someone can call a match on the spot? A fellow wrestler, sure. But does a viewer care? Should a viewer care? Absolutely not. Even safety, far beyond workers that are dangerous, which is totally understandable why a wrestler's opinion would differ from a viewers, safe workers are often code words for lite workers. Wrestling brain likes lite workers. Viewer brain does not. Because lite workers look like shit on television. This, to me, is the number one reason why there is a huge disconnect on Jeff Jarrett between the two camps (then and now). Jarrett, ticking all the boxes that a wrestling brain likes (lite, experienced enough to call matches on the fly), but is totally boring to a viewer brain (lite looks like shit, matches on the fly tend to be basic by-the-numbers and uninteresting). This is where Kane reigns supreme as a "great worker" to wrestling brains, but an absolutely worthless sack of shit to people who had to watch him for 25 years.

Kilgore love those takes on Stuart. Dude was the ultimate message board heat magnet. I never read much of Storm's site. Possibly never read any of it at all beyond the DVDVR 500 take that went viral among the miniscule number of people who cared about such things. Finlay & Randy Orton are the ultimate "wrestler brain" guys for me. Workers love them for "being good at the little things" while, me, a fan siting at home, thinks they're total bores approximately 90% of the time.

Dean Rasmussen aka DEAN of DVDR Wrestling passed away on Thursday. Sad news. But one worthy of a Storytime I'm sure the man himself* would approve of... *DEAN may have been an unconscious influence on my own wrestling writing. Definitely got the ~! from him. My love of ALL CAPS and regular exclamation points came from reading the back of Intellivision boxes, but it's entirely possible DEAN taught me this frowned upon thing I already liked was OK to use after all, grammar nazis be damned. Most importantly DEAN's "match reviews" often had little to do with match he was supposed to be writing about. Instead he would go on wild tangents and relay personal anecdotes before bringing it all back to the match at the end. That's basically my entire schtick. I've told the story before of discovering DVDVR around early 2000. I didn't get it at first. They hated my beloved WWF and ECW while having takes so out there I assumed the whole site was an elaborate troll. Either that or they were the uber smarks who made the likes of Meltzer and Scott Keith look like casuals. For the next 6-12 months I'd venture over there from time to time when bored. But not very often because their WWF hatred and oddball takes gave me a headache. The one thing I liked about DVDVR in those early days is they were the only place covering the more obscure corners of wrestling. Speaking of which... One day in late 2000 I came across a DEAN WOW review. DEAN (and those commenting on his recaps) were the only ones really writing about WOW on the internet. That's what turned me into a regular DVDVR lurker. Not their Japanese, Lucha, or US indie reviews, but DEAN's WOW writeups. Extremely on brand. DEAN's WOW recaps are the stuff of legend. His reviews of peak 2002 Smackdown were also must read. That was the first time I can really remember him (or any of the big DVDVR guys) getting all enthusiastic over my beloved WWF. DVDVR had a not undeserved reputation of being too cool for school. Naylor was actually my favorite DVDVR poster. His enthusiasm was infectious. He seemingly liked everything with the glee of an 8 year old child who had just discovered wrestling. I'm glad he eventually got a role in the business. And in WWE no less! Met him once at a 2004 ROH show where we discussed my love of Christopher Daniels and he dumped on the then-recent HBK/HHH HIAC match. A match I have still never seen because if "Mr. Positivity" Rob Naylor says it sucked, then it MUST have sucked. But DEAN was my favorite of the main DVDVR writers. He didn't have QUITE the enthusiasm of Naylor (nobody did), but he was close, and I found him more relatable, less "too cool for school," than the other main DVDVR writers. Plus he taught me to appreciate punches and helped to reinvigorate my childhood love of fat guys. To my credit I was never a dogmatic Meltzer/Keith disciple (or a DVDVR parrot). I had retained too many pre-internet idiosyncrasies for that. BUT I did largely buy into the narrative that "good wrestlers" were smaller guys who did lots of moves. DEAN (and Friends) helped me to break free of that thinking and embrace my own tastes, which were neither Meltzer/Keith or DVDVR dogma. DEAN's WOW recaps drew me in and before long those guys got me interested in the 80s territories, indie wrestling, and the legendary battles of Survival Tobita. Now I'm sure I would have eventually dove into the first two with or without DVDVR, but those guys definitely sped up the process. I was a regular DVDVR lurker (made an account at some point but doubt I posted a dozen times) until around 05-06. Have to admit I've barely been back since. I met DEAN once. It was the 2002 ECWA Super 8. About 20 DVDVR posters got together. I only remember 6 of them. Naturally DEAN is one of the six. He definitely stood out. He wasn't like the others. Not gonna lie. My initial hot take was "THESE are DWEEBS who have the most hardcore of hardcore wresting fans hanging on their every word?! LOL If only Joe Q. Wrestlingfan met these NERDS in real life they wouldn't care so much about their opinions anymore." Look, I'm not gonna pretend I was Joe Cool or anything, but approximately 18 of those 20 dudes might as well have been pictured next to the dictionary definition for "Social Outcast." DEAN was different. He was a big boisterous fellow. Older than I imagined. Already graying. He wore a DEAN gas station attendant shirt. DEAN looked like the stereotypical wresting fan. I mean that in the nicest possible way. He came off as a real salt of the earth working class type. The sort of dude you'd have a beer and a great conversation with in the local pub. Anyway... RIP DEAN. Thanks for those epic WOW~! and Smackdown~! reviews

I mean, Sid Vicious should know a thing or two about being overrated. The only interesting thing he ever did was break his leg. Sid had some batshit insane promos that I would kill to have nowadays in wrestling. He had his occasional hiccups(The diss to Nash that backfired is infamous) but man when he was on, he was on. He also tried to stab Arn Anderson with a scissor. Almost blasphemy to try this on Double A during like the early 90's.

Pretty decent McDouble, probably because SASHA BANKS didn't make it!

Seems like I was wrong, Sid has gone full blown misogynistic. I forgot he took a jab at Samantha Irvin in the past during Wrestlemania(Which she had a witty comeback long ago), now Sid is going full blown viscous on Raw. (This is supposedly a parody account but DDP does follow this account so who the heck knows )

So apparently, Alicia Fox is officially done with the WWE, as her Legends contract ran out. Now that by itself, isn't all that interesting, however, based off of recent social media posts, she is looking to make a non-WWE return to the ring. As someone who was/is a fan of hers, I definitely find that to be intriguing, to say the least. @admin, I can't remember, if you were a fan of the foxy one, or not. Given, that outside of dex02 and myself, you're probably the biggest women's wrestling fan on here, I'm curious as to what your thoughts on Alicia Fox as a performer are. I'm sure you've given them plenty of times, however, I honestly don't remember, so uh yeah.

Given Arn Anderson who is in AEW was let go because he didn't step in and help Fox with her alcohol addiction, I wonder where she'd go. Impact probably makes the most sense. Not sure if there's any friction between Anderson & Fox in that regard.

From what I hear, and I don't know how true it is, but apparently, Gail Kim has been wanting to get Alicia Fox to join Impact Wrestling for a while now. Again though, I have no idea how true that is, just something I've seen in comment sections on wrestling news sites.

She was a good athlete and had a couple of sensational moves but I don't really think she was dramatically underutilised apart from just generally being in the Butterfly era. My main thought is that I'm glad she's managed to stay sober.

I miss Sweeney so much. He would have been so big when indy wrestling picked up again, if not becoming a star on Raw or Smackdown. He was so damn good on the mic and in the ring.
