I've agured that is type of show is the perfect way to grow independent wrestling in Australia. I'd happily go and see this circus act again.

They knew how to get heat, they told stories, and they worked the crowd.

This was the family show, with the adult show they open the bar, and it apparently gets wild.

So next month (September 16th), there is a big CMLL show, aka their 90th Aniversario Show. I'm looking forward to this one, for two matches currently scheduled on the card, those being... Lince Dorado & Samuray del Sol vs. Soberano Jr. & Titan (best two out of three falls tag team match), Dragon Rojo Jr. vs. Templario (mask vs. mask), and Kevin Knight, Rocky Romero & TJP vs. Atlantis Jr., Mascara Dorada & Mistico (best two out of three falls six-man team match).

“Speeball” Mike Bailey is working a local show here in Edmonton at the end of the month and Veda Scott is advertised for the show. Just letting @ness and Ed know I might touch her before you guys (consensually).

iron maiden informed me of the show. Gonna try to be there but might have dad duty due to my kid getting braces the night before. We will see.

I work in a sports bar so there is heaps of screens just on random sports, one of them I have on the WWE channel.

Guy in his 90s asked me to put it on the bigger tv for him so he could watch Daniel Bryan VS John Cena from Summerslam 2013.

Pretty scary news from Kidd Bandit. Was not feeling well and got checked out, and found she had a concussion and minor brain bleed. Had to pull out for all shows for the rest of the year at least, including Tournament of Death XX.

On the flip side, Bandit will be moving into promoting more at Pandemonium Pro and none wrestling stuff.

I just saw that this was uploaded to CMLL's YouTube page, I know which wrestling show I'll be watching tonight.

With the 90th Aniversario Show out of the way, CMLL's next big show (i.e. not one of their weekly shows) is Noche De Campeones (Night of Champions). The two matches on this card, that have my interest are the CMLL world women's championship match between Stephanie Vaquer and La Catalina (who has worked in WWE/NXT), and of course the world welterweight title match between Titan (the current champion) and Mascara Dorada 2.0.

Bandit vs Commander Stephanie Sterling was uploaded. Fun hardcore match with so many hilarious weapons used. One of Bandit's last matches before she was benched indefinitely due to the brain bleed. First time I seen Steph wrestle, and she is a lot of fun as well. Think this style is where she can shine as a meme heavy hardcore brawler.

If Bandit can return to wrestling so want this run back in GCW, maybe at Big Gay Brunch.

I'm going to put this here, because I can't see any of these guys doing anything of particular worth in AEW or WWE.

Lance Anoa'i & Juicy Finau have both asked and been granted their release from MLW.

Alex " Single H " Hammerstone, has also requested his release from MLW.

WWE should get Lance Anoa'i. I am of the mind the more of the family they get the better given almost all of them have been stars. Get Jacob when possible too.

Realistically see the The Samoan Swat Team and Hammerstone maybe going to Japan or TNA.

Tony be an idiot to sign them, and outside of Anoa'i merely for family relations, these are not WWE guys. Not when next year AEW contracts come up and your choices who would you rather have Hammerstone or MJF? Finau or Willy?

For AEW Tony has enough guys that someone really should smack him if he signs any of them. None of these guys on the level of some of the TNA guys or GCW guys he could get.

MLW is weird right?

Like, no one watches it, nor cares. But it exists, and for some illogical reason this independent has locked people into long term contracts like it's the WWE.

Every time I try to watch it, it feels like someone gave too much money to a wrestling school and they're putting on a school play.

What is sad is this is my local fed's quality of card. And this a typical card for a big US indy fed. GCW, Prestage, NEW (this card), Revolver and more all do cards like this.

So what the fuck are NWA and MLW doing with their contracts?

That was Jim Sterling. They are now Steph who just brutal towards the gaming industry using her new feminine sass. She got into wrestling a few years back. Works a basic style, but she is a big girl and can do big girl stuff, while having no problems taking a beating or making a fool of herself. Also has no issue working the boys.

And for her was very easy to get Bandit. Bandit is a fan of Steph's. And Steph I assume paid for Bandit to come over herself as this was a dream match for her. Likely the airfare was the most expensive part of it. Booking fee and hotel would have been pretty cheap. Bandit was also super excited for this match, as it was basically come over and lets do all the crazy shit we cannot do otherwise. So was a ton of meme spots.

They likely will try to run this back at Effy's Big Gay Brunch if Bandit ever gets cleared again. She is out after a brain bleed was found, so torn on if I do want to see her in a ring again at all. She did that Steph match with it most likely which is scary as hell.

I'm excited to watch Nicole Matthews wrestle in the States for the 1st time in a while against Maki Itoh in a few weeks. That should be a hoot.

Looks like NWA fucked around and found out. CW was said to have nearly finalized a deal to put them on TV. Then they did a cocaine celebration promo at their last big show. CW announced today NXT is coming to their network. WWE does not allow competing promotions on networks they air on.

Not wanting to make a new thread for this, but read a great article on ratings that basically says the actual ratings of wrestling shows today does not matter to networks or advertisers, nor if it is increasing or decreasing. They only care around nightly rank. Particularly did they make top five or not, as that is the number the networks report to advertisers.

Also showed that the correlation between declining ratings and WWE revenue is nearly perfect. So the lower ratings for WWE gets the more cash they get.

The kicker for me though is in 2021 Nielsen Media Research lost accreditation as a rating group for providing misleading ratings. While they regained accreditation this year, many networks and ad groups no longer even use them and now use outside groups for advisement. Even the accreditation group MRC said that not everyone agreed to restore their accreditation. They also refused to accredit their cross platform measurement system, or their digital systems.

And while the alternatives are not accredited, many networks lost utter faith in MRC as well for allowing Nielsen to be reaccredited while also saying there were still problems.


So yeah, those ratings wrestling fans hold up so high are basically bullshit that no one else cares about because they are not only not remotely accurate, they are not valid measures of success to networks or ad groups in the modern era where most people stream.

Better forward that article to TK before he has another meltdown on Twitter.

Tony gets worked by dirtsheets. He needs to get off social media and hire a real community manager.

But that whole pissing match was over rank, which does matter.  Head to head ratings do not matter, only which fed was higher.  Win by 100 or 100000 fans does not matter.  Just need to win.  And Tony did not win that one which is why he threw his tantrum went net nerd.  And what he said was just as fucking stupid as most fans when they talk ratings.

Speaking of ratings, Rampage + Collision are collectively going head to head with WarGames this Saturday apparently.

If there was ever a moment to bring CM Punk back to WWE, this would be it.

I'd be teasing it all night if I were WWE.

I'd even play half a second of static to mess with people.

Only thing I want to see is Punk in a cage with a real MMA guy. That is what would sell. Put a UFC show against Collision with Punk vs a top five division guy in the cage.

People want to see him left a bloody mess and he clearly wants to fight.  He wins the fight then bring him back to WWE.

Plan to watch Wargames until the Joshi Dream Team wrestles.  Then swap to AEW if it is still on.  Fine if I miss AEW tv , bui Joshi girls in Wargame will be must watch.

Went to a local wrestling show as it was on a Wednesday night and both myself and my mate from work could make it.

We get there, there’s no actual seats and only a spare few uncomfortable stools.
Was like a small grandstand that people would stand on but that’s it.
Show was just completely grubby and some dingy venue, like RAW underground looking. No barricades or anything so I just couldn’t enjoy as I kept thinking about the venue’s worries.

I get the vibe they were going for but just wasn’t for me.

I know he's sorta controversial but man EFFY went the heck in on Ronda Rousey. God damn.
