If all goes to plan and the ligma variant doesn’t disrupt plans I’ll be having quite a lot of paid time off next year for my long service leave in May.
So I’m looking for suggestions of places to go, leaning towards North America.
I’ve been to New York City and I absolutely loved it, but other than that I haven’t been anywhere else overseas.
Main concern is public transport as I don’t want to drive and ended up in a head on collision when I naturally start driving in the left lane  I just like theme parks as well as looking at landmarks/museums and that sort of stuff, I don’t drink so not into the bar scene etc.
Suggest anyway 🥳

Vegas was always one ofy favourite destinations before children. Only been once in the past four years since my first was born. There's just no shortage of things to do there that aren't gambling related. Of course it helps that Mrs. Foos loves slot machines.

Vegas is the place to be really. The area is geared towards non-stop excitement. NYC is always great for more exploration and checking out different shit that is there, but Vegas has it own ecosystem of comedy, music, and other stage shows and shit like that.
If you guys hit up Vegas, my favorite magician is there, Piff the Magic Dragon. Here is him doing my favorite card trick. Love doing this trick but it is a total pain in the ass at the same time. Took months to get the damn thing down but changing a signed card into another card blows people minds.
Dog or no Dog is a hilarious trick as well.

Go to Europe, and do the tourist stuff.
Couple of days in London, a couple of days in Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Venice and whatever in-between. Or go the opposite way and hit up Scotland, Ireland, etc.
You can travel between countries via train, and public transport - especially in London is super-easy. A lot of these places are towns you want to walk around in.

I can only speak from my limited traveling experiences:
Tennessee is beautiful and there's a lot to do compared to the rest of the south. Highly recommended to see the Smokey Mountains at some point if you ever can. Gatlinburg is fun if you love pancake houses and tourist traps.
Kentucky is pretty but it takes 4 1/2 hours to drive through.
Florida is overrated. The beaches are nice and all but everything else is a headache and I'm sure Australia's beaches are probably x1000 better. Plus it's a Covid hotspot.
Avoid Ohio like the plague. Too much corn and not a lot to do or see, unless you wanna kick it with the Amish and churn butter for fun like Dexter. All we've got is football, museums, more football and a lot of statues commemorating people who invented or piloted aviation crafts so they could gtfo here. Cleveland is probably the only city worth seeing.
Fuck Indiana. Birthplace of the KKK. Nothing good happens there.
Fuck Michigan. Unwritten Ohio laws require me to say this. I've only been to Detroit but that's a place you don't visit, more so you get in and then get out. Illinois is just corn + Chicago.
'Bama and Georgia are just southern Ohio.
Mizzou actually has some fun. The Ozarks are awesome but had some of the scariest roads I've ever drove on. Lake of The Ozarks was like witnessing a white boomer's fever dream.
My dream city to visit personally is New Orleans. I've never been but I would still recommend it just because it has the most unique culture in the US and it's a goddamned national treasure that we should be protecting at all costs.
Most importantly: avoid every single one of these places during the summer. The humidity and subsequent swamp ass is unreal.

Another vote for Las Vegas. There's so much to do. Great food and so many shows. Most of the stuff is located around the Strip so everything can be reached by foot or a short Uber ride.
These are the things we did when we went there for three days: - Aquarium at Mandalay Bay - Siegfried & Roy big cat sanctuary at The Mirage - Sunday Drag Brunch at Senor Frog's in Treasure Island - Pinball Hall of Fame 1 mile east of the Strip - Penn & Teller at the Rio - Cirque du Soleil "O" at Bellagio - Dessert tour at the Venetian

If I was going to wander it would be to go back to Italy and Spain. I have been to 20-something countries, mostly for work, but it let's me know where I would go back to and where I wouldn't. I do love the USA though, but certain parts of Europe, I find much more interesting. My next trip to the USA I would like to do a BBQ crawl down south.

My favorite trip has been DC. Fun museums and things to see and the metro is terrific to get you around to all of them.
But I have barely been anywhere.

Travel is overrated. Ask theend for details. By not travelling, it's like being content with playing the demo, when there's actually a much bigger game to play.

You can't go wrong with Las Vegas. It isn't an overly expensive destination (unless you gamble a lot), there's always something to do, and the entire city is designed for you to just show up with the clothes on your back and they're just like "hey, we got the rest. You go have fun."
There are always flight and hotel deals because people are always coming and going non-stop, and if you park yourself at a slot machine for a little while you drink for free. $20 goes a long way on nickel slots and you can just crush beers and shots the whole time. Make sure you tip when you're done though or they won't let you back in.
I went to Vegas for a week and the best night my friends and I had there was the night we spent on Fremont St. My friend did one pull on a slot machine and won like $200, so he cashed out, handed the waitress a 20 and said "don't leave this area for at least an hour." She came back with surprise shots she made up and called "red death" (shout out Daniel Garcia) and 90 minutes later I was wasted and watching a graffiti artist do speed portraits outside.
It really is the best way to experience everything that makes America what it is in one stop, good or bad.
...
I've never left North America but I've been all over for both business and pleasure so if you decide to come this way I got plenty of ideas.

Thank you everyone for the recommendations, was leaning towards Florida and going to the theme parks and the AEW shows are a great suggestion iron maiden. Plus I have an online friend that lives in Wildwood. rad in what ways are things a headache? I’m hoping I would handle the heat anyway considering I’ve lived in places that average 45c/113f in Summer but maybe Spring will be fine. sandylea has always wanted to go to Vegas, I’d feel like she would kill me if I went without her. (Travelling Solo as she won’t be able to get months off work). Hopefully check it out together in future and she might enjoy the drinks etc. mikec I wish I went to DC when I went to NYC, would have loved to have seen the monuments. RT That’s crazy, we are only allowed to give out soft drink (pop/soda) and hot drinks at my workplace. I suppose it isn’t a casino though. @ness that reminds me I was talking to a co worker about a beach area I’ve always visited since I was a kid and she tells me her bf’s father is a diver and there’s an incredible amount of sharks there. Just like the germs in hotel rooms, I know they are there I just don’t need to be reminded.

Expenses, traffic, trinket shops, tourists, hurricanes, gators that stalk you from the piers, seagulls crapping on your head, draconian weed laws, homicidal golf cart riding senior citizens, bath salt zombies, the human grenades known as "Florida Man"... Florida's just one big ole meme. But hey - you go have fun, not trying to be a Spoilin' Sebastian over here... Like anywhere else, it has positive experiences to offer, too. The weather in the fall is usually lovely. If you're going to FLA, now's probably a better time than ever.

It’s official, June 1st-July 28th I’m on long service. Let’s hope I don’t get fired in the interim 😂 Go to Florida: Orlando/Tampa. Do DisneyWorld and Universal Studios and take in an NXT or AEW show. What is the public transport situation like if you used it? That’s my biggest concern with visiting a lot of places in the US is that apparently public transport isn’t great and I’m not confident enough to drive in a busy part of the US.. When I’m used driving on the left hand side and everything will be opposite. NYC subway was a lifesaver br] I’ll just crash pduh ‘s house and do a real life episode for my #100th appearance

Those should do the job.

Yep, I used Lyft and Uber when I was there last in 2019. But in 2008 we went to Kennedy Space Center and swimming with the manatees which was about an hour outside of the city so we rented a vehicle. If Rogue can do it System , you can too. I made her do all the driving.

I'm at a point now where I can shift between the two easily, it feels natural to drive on the other side because the drivers side is the left hand side of the car. My biggest embarrassing issue is that for months after travelling overseas I will get confused over which side of the car to get in back home.

The bus system is really good in Hawaii (especially Oahu) no wrestling or theme parks there obviously but I'd say a nicer climate and more beautiful scenery there, plus easier to get to from Australia.
PNW is really good for public transport too.
