I'm going to Las Vegas in a couple weeks to play as much poker as I can. Anyone have any tips on interesting out of the way restaurants and sights? I've been before and done most of the typical things - Penn and Teller show, Cirque du Solei "O" show, Mandalay Bay aquarium, Siegfried and Roy Tiger Habitat, Senor Frog's Drag Brunch, Pinball Hall of Fame. If I recall Foos has been more than once. On my bucket list for the next Vegas trip is a helicopter tour over/in the Grand Canyon and they fly back over Vegas at night. It’s about $500 USD but I think worth it.

If I recall Foos has been more than once. Wife & I used to do runaway Christmases to Vegas every year. Then it became yearly January excursions to celebrate FIL's birthday. If it's still running, we loved Peepshow and Aerosmith's residency was surprisingly good. Food-wise... Joe's Stone Crab, Fatburger, and the cafe attached to Paris are three of our favorite haunts. Also, find the secret pizza joint in the Cosmopolitan. And then there's this... www.reddit.com/r/Damnthatsinteresting/comments/ua39eo/imagine_being_stoned_here/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_buttonI assume that’s Meow Wolf? Those look super cool. There’s one in Denver but I haven’t been.

I saw a documentary about Vegas once, so maybe you could watch it and get some ideas...?
It was called "The Hangover"!

No sock.
Poor Rogue was sick for most of the time plus I overwhelmed her with a bunch of crazy Canadians who hadn’t been anywhere for the past three years. You think I’m a lot…sheesh.
I didn’t get sick until closer to the end, but we still both rallied and put our livers through the wringer. There was a particularly drunken night of karaoke. Good fun!

If I don't gambling, strippers, drinking or high class escorts, is Vegas still worthwhile visiting? It has never been on my radar for these reasons. I am sorry to hear that Rogue was sick on holidays, that's the worst! Especially if you have sick leave banked up. Glad to hear you made the best of it anyway and had a good time iron maiden,

I don’t know if that would be enough to justify a trip from Australia on its own. The next time you go to the US for business it could be nice to add on a day or two in Vegas.

Bumping this bad boy because I just spent a few days in Singapore. It's a nice place and all the things you hear about it are true - it's very orderly, clean, and easy to get around (the MRT is amazing) but it's generally expensive (although there are excellent food bargains to have) and the weather is brutal. I think a few days was the perfect amount of time to be there (and the taxi drivers I spoke to agreed!) I would definitely recommend it as a stopover location for the Aussies here on the way to Europe. Gardens by the Bay is beautiful.

I thought the Roman Forum in Rome was good, you can just stroll around casually, which I thought was quite good.
Venice was fun too, naturally it's very unique city.
I've been to Florence, but outside of the main tourist traps I can't recall much. I also found Pisa to be an incredible waste of time, unless you and 200 of your closest friends want a photo of yourself pushing the Leaning Tower up... or pretending it's your massive penis.

If doing Italy seriously read about the Italian pickpockets. One of the worst places in the world for them. Always seen it suggested to use a money belt in Italy things are so bad.
Like when I went on a con kick a few years back, Italian scams and cons were the ones usually talked about since they are done so much people could write about them in detail.

My coworker went to Rome. Her phone was stolen by someone on a scooter who ripped it out of her hand as he drove by.

I luckily didn't have any issues when I was there, not much you can do about an example like Gyro's but you can obviously help yourself by doing sensible stuff like not engaging with the dudes who try to sell you stuff on the street. Capri was my favourite place iron maiden, I couldn't recommend it more. It's easy enough to get to from Rome, train to Naples and then a ferry over the gulf. I'll never forget the feeling when we pulled into the marina and I was just like this is the most spectacular place I've ever seen.

For anyone who has been to Italy or Greece what was your 'must see/do'? Rogue and I are looking at taking our next adventure there. Naples has a horrific reputation for crime where Rome is just pickpockets like anywhere there is tourists. My advice is don't try and do too much. If you want to see the major attractions then do that, but after that find 1-3 regions you really want to see and spend some time there and really get a feel for a region. I have never done Greece but had friends rave about the coast and the islands. In Italy I have never been to Rome, Sicily or the Capri coast which is all supposed to be very nice. I do recommend somewhere like Tuscany if you want to hire a car: Florence, Pisa, Luca, Siena are all driveable from each other. I did love Venice but it's expensive if you want to stay in the city part and it wouldnt be the same experience if you didn't. I haven't done

Did you jump off anything?
It wouldn't be NZ without a near death experience.

New Zealand was absolutely incredible! As System said I did plan the entire thing, we went for a week and every day was pretty packed full of things. Thursday - arrived, and had a super stressful drive. First time driving in NZ and experiencing those highways 😳 and driving a hybrid for the first time! Friday - Mount Eden! Which is sadly under construction so wasn’t able to see the crater itself but was still a fun walk! Then off to Kingseat for Spookers! Which I absolutely loved and had the best time, System strongly disagrees though. Saturday - Black Water Rafting, basically cave diving/walking and floating looking at glow worms in the dark. Super cool experience but also quite stressful at the start. Very big drive there and back. Sunday - Island Rangitoto and attempting the summit, now I know I’m the fittest person in the world but I thought I was pretty decent. Nope this SUMMIT killed me, and my entire will to live. I’ve never hated my life more than in this moment (that’s a lie, but it still sucked). Beautiful place tho. Then off to Maritime Museum! Monday - HOBBITON and Rotoura, booked a tour for this so didn’t have to drive thank god. Both were an incredible amount of fun. Tuesday - Auckland Zoo, Sea Life Aquarium, War Memorial Museum, and Skytower 😁 Wednesday - Waitakere Range, did the Mercer Bay Loop track and checked out the Lion Rock Track. (Place System forgot the name of where they filmed Xena). Such an incredible and gorgeous place. One Tree Hill - kind of. We looked at it from the bottom, it was raining and very cold at this point. Thursday - final day. Spent most of it in the city before returning the hire car and off to the airport. There was more stuff I planned that we didn’t get to do, but will definitely do it next time. Looking forward to going back and doing the South Island as well. Also it was great going to the cinema there, they had such an amazing combo for such a good price lol

It is such an incredible country. We did the loop back in 2016 and NZ exceeded my expectations. The variety is amazing. Warm and tropical at the top of the North Island to painfully cold in the bottom of the South. Very few places I'd imagine you can go from swimming and kayaking in 30 degree temps, to walking on a glacier in full kit. System you need to go to Queenstown. They named a famous burger joint after you.
