Former basketball player may win a title for her 23rd win. That number isn't special in basketball is it?

I really want to like Jade Cargill but if Ruby can't get a good match out of you I don't know who can.

Looked like Pillman screwed up the landing prior to the Black Mass. You mean him slipping off the ropes and landing on his back wasn't the plan?

I’m super happy for Jungle Express. Pretty dope that Christian presented the titles to them. Just a shame Fenix completely blowing up his arm overshadowed the whole finish.

Man, Jade is... STILL not good. That match was dogshit and I felt horrible for Ruby. She’s not the greatest wrestler in the world but she deserved way better than to have to once again do the job and try to make someone shitty look good. I really want to like Jade, and I do like her promos and Mark Sterling, but in the ring she’s just so fucking bad.

If Ruby won that title though all she would be doing is fighting the up and coming girls in short matches. That is more suited for Jade than Ruby.

Yeah, why would you want short good matches when you could have short dogshit matches?

Didn't like the world title match going on first but I knew it would happen since anything else would have meant either another hour or no suspense in the match. Just the optics and Jurassic Express main eventing over Hangman/Danielson is very strange though. Anyway, great match. May even have preferred it to the first one. They have great chemistry. All week I've been on the Danielson wins bandwagon, but in the closing moments I felt Hangman should win. That's great wrestling, and the right man won.
I don't really have a dissenting opinion this week. I agree with everyone about Cargill. She needs to be booked in situations that protect her ala Goldberg, not thrown into long matches with workers trying to drag her to something respectable. I also had to laugh at c's sarcastic post about diversity. Reminded me of the 'I can't be racist my best friend is black' meme.

I can respect the decision to keep the championship on Hangman Page. He's the one talent that they elevated to main event status and he more than anybody else right now represents the company. The challenge is, can Page maintain that standard or will he have trouble following the rest of the roster? I don't think the fans have picked up on it yet but as a solo act he's yet to really stand out on PPV. Even on the night where he won the title, his match paled in comparison to others. Otherwise, it's another great match to add to Danielson's resume and he just continues to climb up that ladder of all-time greats.
I will say that I'm glad TK got this out of the way now and we didn't have to wait until February for Page to face a proper challenger. It's the biggest issue I have with the AEW Women's Championship where Baker/Rosa is the obvious match and they've yet to come up with one proper reason why it hasn't been booked yet.
I saw social media blow up over the CM Punk line. That's one of the issues that a WWE-centric line can bury what was otherwise a good promo exchange. I think the delivery from both guys was great but the material was clunky, especially the exchange about Piper which was just a way to bring up Wrestlemania. On one hand, playing the 'us vs. them' card creates a more passionate fanbase who believe they're following a cause. On the other, the bottom line of the segment was to promote Wardlow-Punk and it was sold as an anti-climax.
I want to know what the thinking was behind the TBS Championship. Was this to placate both Brandi & Kenny? I'm really curious to see how they differentiate the two titles or if it's just a case of they couldn't agree on the Cargill experiment and just made a belt for her to win to keep her away from the rest of the division. That's partially why I was hoping Ruby would win so it didn't come off so cynically.
No surprise with the main event, especially since it's been clear that the Lucha Bros have been booked as transitional champions. Shame about Fenix, but it wasn't like he had anything but a Black Mass in his future, such is a life of a jobber to the stars.

The Cargill stuff is what really gets me. People complain that AEW is not diverse enough at the top, then they push Cargill and people complain about her getting pushed. And this usually is what happens when feds promote diversity. Fans do not like it and say whoever is pushed is not ready while people who do not actively watch complain that diverse wrestlers do not get a chance to shine. So you end up pandering to a group who does not watch your product, while alienating those who do.
I am not against Cargill. This should be a trial by fire. She steps up, or AEW should send her back down to net shows. That kind of should be the purpose of midcard titles, to give people a chance to prove themselves.

'People' is not a groupthink. There can be people complaining about diversity, and people who don't like Cargill. They are not necessarily the same people, that's just a lazy trope people use to try to point out hypocrisy where none exists.

But if representation is what matters, the exact person does not. And this is a trend that happens whenever a diverse person is pushed. It is always we want diverse talent but not them.
