AEW makes it official. Brandi is gone too.

Meltzer reported this morning that Cody went from “definitely signing with AEW” to “not a guarantee” in the past couple days.

Zarian hinted at a big announcement today. Then all this dropped.

SRS is saying he’s going back to WWE but he has zero sources or proof, just speculation.

Cody still has two shows on TNT and is still an EVP, unless he’s leaving that role as well. Either this is the biggest work of our lifetime or Vince offered him an insane amount of money.

Cody doesn’t have a no-compete so he could show up anywhere any time.

What was the point of the Brandi vs Paige VanZant/Lambert stuff that took up DYNAMITE tv time? We get on WWE for this type of shit.

Cody and Brandi seem more like they are transitioning out of wrestling and more so into Hollywood.

Also awkward for Dustin Rhodes to be the lone man in AEW given his school has benefitted so much. Less ego with Dustin though vs his little brother. Dustin came because of his brother.

Well, we were talking about the necessity of moving on some talent to clear the way for the new signings, Cody was on top of that list.

I'm not entirely sure if I buy him leaving. Unless Cody was asking for some crazy figure, it just seems like he had way more opportunities with AEW and Turner than he would with the WWE. So I could see this being some big angle to work the marks and have Cody return later on.

Still if he's gone, that's a boost for AEW.

It maybe a short term gain for the WWE if he goes there as well, but I could easily see him being slotted with The Miz and Maryse.

Frankly, see this as a good thing. Cody has not really been clicking with the TV crowd, does weird stuff, and the main event scene was super crowded. WWE could use him to shake things up and AEW is fine without him.

And WWE likely offered him a few million more than AEW, a promise not to do Stardust again and a deal to bring his reality TV show to WWE network.

Khan better get used to this, if Vince wants someone, Vince will have them.  

If Cody goes back to WWE, do you think Turner will cancel the Go Big Show?

Thinking on this, bet WWE made Cody a devil's bargain and will offer one to Dustin to come to WWE with jobs in the back as well as part time ring stuff and the reality show about the Rhode's families that would also be used to honor Dusty. Give them everything they could want, to sever the head of AEW publically and remove their best spokesperson in Cody, takeout their brand manager in Brandi and remove one of the main trainers at their training school when Dustin jumps. Dustin leaves, QT may also leave. Forcing them to restaff the Nightmare Academy entirely. Dustin will likely be doing training at NXT as he is the classic example of making a shitty gimmick work for him.

So curious to see how this plays out as Vince could be starting to take AEW seriously and this could be the first real blow to them. As much as Cody loved Khan and bitched about WWE, Vince is basically family to both Dustin and Cody.

I assume everything Cody is a part of on turner will be cancelled when he signs with Vince, as the no compete with Trigger.

Cody did what he needed to do with AEW for himself and others. He's kind of foundering now so time to move on to something new. A few years ago he was lost in the mix, but now if he went back to WWE I could see his character doing very well, Brandi too.

How I see Cody's first day back.

Cody : No more paint, Vince.

Vince : What?

Cody : I said, no more paint anymore. Maybe you didn't hear about it, I been away a long time. I didn't come up here and tell you. I don't wear face paint anymore.

My favorite take is WWE will release him as soon as they see how hideous the tattoo is.

Maybe now that he had a baby he is taking sometime off to get that tattoo removed.

I am hoping for HHH to leave and him and Cody running a company together option.

Starting to think this is all a big angle for that show, and Cody is going to make season 2 all about that, his dealings away from AEW, and then return whenever they film the final episode of the season.

Said the split happened yesterday. Lawyers were involved.

No deal could be reached. Confirmed Cody has no non compete clause and can show up anywhere anytime.

“There are a ton of reprecussions from this and it shows AEW are sticking to a budget, which was clear in other negotiations.”

This is getting so spicy.

If it’s a work then it’s genius and I applaud everyone involved. That’s what wrestling is about. If it’s not then it’s weird and I hope we get the truth unbiased from these wrestling journalists

Cody WAS confirmed for a second season of Rhodes to the Top.  But if it was not already filmed, I would say it is up in the air or at the very least, the final season.  

If it was a swerve than why is Brandi leaving? She was just on TV in a feud with Lambert and Paige VanZant. Had been getting wins on AEW Dark.

If she goes to WWE, she either becomes The phenomenal Eden Stiles again or gets to do "open mic nite up in this bitch" and we get hilarity Mondays or Fridays.

More intrigued as to what this means for Stiles/Brandi. She showed in AEW that she is entertaining as hell on the mic, just worried they script her.

I smell a work.

Honestly, I don't care what Cody and Brandi do. I'm happier without seeing them on AEW programming.

Just stay away from NJPW and I'll be happy.
