They are going to make him hate this contract so much, it will be delicious.
He will get a fortune, but have to dress up as Goldust, guaranteed within 12 months he has a humiliating gimmic.

I don’t know what to think. Part of me thinks he’ll be the world champ within six months just so Vince can wave his dick at AEW. And Cody can talk about finally winning the big one for his daddy even though its his own stupid fault he couldn’t win the AEW title.

But part of me also agrees with you and Cody will be written off TV within a year and Vince will gladly pay him to stay home so he can’t be on AEW television.

Only thing I can think of for why Cody did this, is to leverage his way into acting. Otherwise WWE will just make him miserable leading to him losing his smile. And this really is Cody's problem, he is not happy just being a wrestler, and wants to be more, a booker, an actor, ect. But he is trying to do this taking wrestling jobs and hoping he just walks through the backdoor into a different career.

This guy, as pompous as he is - got himself over in such a way he was able to launch a rival to WWE, and has spent 3 years helping young talent get over. Hes perfect for NXT 2.0

Thing is, he could couch in AEW.   He was helping run the Nightmare Academy.   That was not what he wanted though, he wanted to book.  Only thing I can think of that would be like that is if WWE was willing to have him replace HHH basically in NXT.  And this would make a lot of sense since he could scout the guys he used to work with for WWE too.

It's almost potentially a WCW v WWF scenario, the vets are jumping to the upstart promotion on the big bucks and less dates, and the rookies get lured in by the big lights and opportunities in WWE.

Largely depends on what Cody thought a EVP is and what Khan thinks an EVP is. Without knowing anything about the situation, I can easily see a scenario where Khan figures it's a symbolic (but without any power) gesture to the founders but Cody believed it meant he was actually part of the day to day management.
