Only for some topics and people that have been covered as nauseam. I don’t think we need another Joker or Thanos conversation. This should make some picks a bit more interesting.

We'll kick it off with Mr. Hans Gruber in the action category

Not sure exactly what way I want to go with this so I'll just make sure to lock up my favorite horror villain right away. 



Michael Myers - Horror 

Call him Michael , the shape or the boogeyman , it doesn't matter because IMO he is the best horror villain of all time. A relentless killing machine who started off as just an indiscriminate great white shark. His whole aesthetic is perfect from the expressionless plain white face and the blackened emotionless eyes. Through the years and in the sequels he shifted into more of the Terminator Michael which also works but nothing compares to him in the original. 

Dr. Loomis really says it best:

I met him, 15 years ago; I was told there was nothing left; no reason, no conscience, no understanding in even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, of good or evil, right or wrong. I met this... six-year-old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and... the blackest eyes - the Devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up, because I realized that what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... evil.

Not surprised to see Hans go first , he is the obvious action pick of them all and for good reason. The antagonist of maybe the best action movie of it's time. Not just his menacing ways either - Rickman puts in a legitimately great performance that just elevates the character and genre. Can't blame Shootist for going there. I might have done the same had he made it to me even if I do like the action category quite a bit.

Two picks on my board gone already. I thought UT's Scream fandom would get the better of him and he would draft Ghostface. Unfortunately, he showed a bit of sense and drafted Myers instead.

I’ve always loved Myers the most and wouldn’t even know how to draft Ghostface , who is also great.

Freddy is a solid pick. I’d even have him behind a few others but I get it. He’s the biggest even if he is the most inconsistent.

You can have your supernatural teenager killers. I'll take a regular old human being who happens to be a bit unhinged. Maybe even a lot unhinged. Being trapped in a cabin with this lady would be absolutely terrifying.


I'll take the best TV villain in the history of TV and the history of villains.

Gustavo Fring - Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul



I'm not sure there's a character in fiction who fascinates me more than Gus Fring. He is relentless like no other character I've seen. His lover was killed by Mexican drug kingpins, so he dedicates his entire life to being the best damn drug kingpin on the planet, just so he can torment Hector Salamanca and get his opportunity to kill all the Mexican drug kingpins. That is the sole reason for his existence. Almost impossible to take him down, he has an almost machine-like cunning and remorselessnesss yet still has a touch of humanity inside him. He's able to be a charming fast food philanthropist and a cold-blooded killer all at the same time, with seamless transitions. No doubt he would have lived forever if not for Walter White, a man smart enough to identify and exploit Gus' only weakness - Hector Salamanca.

Shooter McGavin , Happy Gilmore 

Not sure how much I love the depth in this category so I'm going to go ahead and snag one of the most hate-able comedy villains of all time. Christopher McDonald is absolutely perfect at playing Shooter - an egotistical narcissist who craves that gold jacket so much he is willing to screw over anyone in his way. Despite being the best in his sport he is so scared of anyone else getting any adoration because his ego is so fragile. Easy to hate , a joy to watch get his comeuppance , plus he eats shit for breakfast.

Gus is a great pick in a category I'm not sure where to go at , he was at the top of my TV list but I figured I could sneak in Homelander before realizing I screwed myself with my own guidelines again. Either way probably the best pick you could make in this draft.

Kathy Bates is awesome in misery and terrifying but meh overall for this draft. Not going to kill the pick because I love the performance but it's a little safe.

Kathy Bates is a safe pick? What does that even mean? Coming from the guy who picked Michael Myers, the most obvious horror villain besides Krueger.

I said what I said. It’s an amazing performance and crazy ass villain - Ive given it all the credit due in the past. I prefer the camp of horror more in this topic - picking an all time great Oscar winner was meh for my tastes.

Though I enjoy I got to ruffle Emps feathers a bit.

Also Michael Myers shade will not stand.

You're still not making any sense, saying she's an amazing villain and a bad pick in the same paragraph.

One of my favorite movie scenes involves him. He tells Happy's former boss "You can count on it." And he says, "AND YOU CAN COUNT, ON ME MEETING YOU IN THE PARKING LOT" lol

Scar was an easy pick but I have someone else in mind for childrens , hoping they last and they should as it probably won't be as popular. Same for action so I got Burns out of the way. 

Curious as to why Shootist took a horror guy there , if there was someone else he wanted he could have had his pick - no one else can pick horror so Lecter is a lock to make it back to his last pick.

I was too busy being outraged to read your words fully :kane: But yeah, that makes sense. I guess in a way I feel somewhat similarly about most slasher villains, most of them are great but I don't really care, although Myers and Krueger are the two slasher villains that stand way above the rest.

You're right, you did praise the Fring pick, and rightfully so. But I don't have anything to add besides liking your post and maybe saying "I agree, cheers buddy", which isn't very interesting. But I agree, cheers buddy.

I must admit I rushed my picks too much. Fring I wanted too badly to pass up, but I could have waited on Kathy Bates given two horror picks had already been gone. Should have picked Scar instead, who is the standout Children's villain, and unsurprisingly he didn't make it back to me.

Predator is a fantastic pick and high on my list. Never thought of Hannibal Lecter, but his status as a top tier villain is slightly questionable as Buffalo Bill is more of the true villain in that film, whereas Lecter is arguably leaning towards an antihero in parts. Splitting hairs but that's what you gotta do in these drafts because usually all the picks are top tier.

I struggled with it more than I thought. I had some but they’d probably be pretty obscure and the one I really wanted (Homelander) I realized I screwed myself out of.

A lot of the “big villains” are from shows I never watched so that doesn’t help either. Except for one but he kind of turned into an antihero now so I skipped him.

Yeah same for something like Se7en which I say people claim as horror. It’s really not - just because it has jump scares or some gore doesn’t make it horror.

I’m actually surprised given Shootist is a slasher guy that he went high brow.
