It's a little weird that the team that lost in the finals isn't part of this match but whatever, that'll give them ammo when they can challenge again. I guess Alex Reynolds is injured after all.

Ford has to win to earn a title shot. They've done a few in the past, the most recent being Thunder Rosa losing to Miyu Yamashita at a show in Japan, then defending the title against her a few weeks later. NJPW does the same thing, although they don't call it an eliminator match. It's just a rule that if a reigning champ gets pinned/submitted in a non-title match, the person that pinned/submitted them gets a title shot.

(phrasing)I stick by my hot take that it's time for Dark Order to disband and quietly go their separate ways. It was nice that they stuck together as a Brodie Lee tribute but AEW (the fanbase, the locker room, and the office) will never let it turn heel, or be led by anyone else -- the wrestlers can't move on and advance in their careers.

Someone on reddit just pointed out that if you don't read wrestling news or follow any of it online, you would have no idea why Tony Khan made that announcement at the start of the show. And that's a really fucking good point.
I'm guessing he can't say anything due to the third party investigation, and the fact that nobody has mentioned CM Punk or The Elite at all tonight probably means I'm right about that. But it's still crazy to think about.
If you had no idea of anything that happened after All Out went off the air, you would literally see CM Punk and The Elite win title matches, then turn on Dynamite to see the boss man stripping them of the titles and announcing a tournament. :lol: TONY KHAN GOES FULL HEEL

The amount of people who do not follow any media on wrestling and regularly watch the show is likely very low. This is not 2000, everyone has a computer on their phone. Mainstream media has wrestling news in many places as well.
