This match is for a ROH, not an AEW title. The promotion no longer depends on Punk, or the Elite, to survive. Much better to have them than not, to be sure, but push comes to shove Khan no longer *needs* them and can push his new guys.

Hum... AEW changing the pure rules. Old rules were if you are out of rope breaks no counts at all for shit in the ropes as it is no longer illegal.

I see this as Khan pushing two guys who have no been involved in any of the drama of the past 3 months.  Both guys are very happy to be in AEW, so why not reward them to also remind people that this was what AEW was founded to do, put on fun matches with people having fun.

That was the point. Entire angle is to get Garcia over as a top face. Since the accident a lot of people in AEW wanted him to make it big there since he had a such a great attitude. And it is good for AEW, as like a third of his GoFundMe was AEW or AEW adjacent people.

I believe you're right Emperor. When Jericho came out after the title match, you can see the disappointment on his face. At that moment, I sympathized with him.

Yes, Jericho was disappointed, but Danielson has been acting like a father figure or mentor to Garcia, exactly the selfless hero that Garcia claims Danielson is.

Jericho certainly did recruit Garcia and take him under his wing, but he doesn't care about Garcia himself, his achievements or his relationship with Danielson, he just cares about what Garcia can do for Chris Jericho and the reputation of Chris Jericho's group. In other words, Jericho is purely selfish.

Garcia is also losing respect for Jericho's dishonourable "sports entertainer" actions, like attacking Danielson after he beat Garcia, and using a low blow to defeat Danielson. Jericho refuses to acknowledge or apologise for any of this, instead he insists Garcia apologise to him for disrespecting him.

I hope Jericho calls out Garcia tomorrow and tells him "the apology should be as loud as the disrespect."
