Weird as in goes against the narratives about Punk. One of those comics at that rating, and I assume that actual one, sold for around 20k recently. And yeah, super cool gesture by Punk. That is one of like 5 legendary comics.

That is one of like 5 legendary comics. It just goes to show how divisive he is. When you're on Punk's good-side he'll give you the shirt off his back and then some to help a friend in need. However it doesn't take much for him to either ghost or go scorched earth on somebody - such is the enigma that is CM Punk.
This just confirms what we already knew that Danhausen is one of those guys that got along with Punk, so you can lump him in as one of the 'up and comers' who looks up to Punk.

SRS hinting that big news is coming today. Dropped a CM Punk gif with it.
After everyone turned on him yesterday for his bullshit update he either is trying to save face or he has something legit.
My guess: Punk was at the arena last night.

OMG THE NEWS IS REALLY GROUNDBREAKING!!! Bucks and Omega are willing to work with Punk moving forward. After their contracts are renewed with substantial bonuses.
SRS did not break it, but likely his story is along these lines, since it is all shit we knew months ago.
Also everyone now saying it just makes sense to bring him back since they are running Wembley and need him to draw there.

Everybody got a price. If he was a ratings draw and a needle mover even the biter would be in the spotlight.

So the news is this:
-Punk’s return is in the works and planned for the June 21st show in Chicago (the go-home show for Forbidden Door)
-there have been discussions about announcing it ahead of time
-no word on if things have progressed between him and The Elite. As of a few months ago they said they wouldn’t work with Punk but that might have changed. Elite seem to just be focused on contract negotiations.
-Punk and Jericho are apparently having a meeting about working together.
-there is talk of the new Saturday show being a “soft brand split” which is apparently Warner’s idea.

I hope Punk chills out. No politics, no funny business, just wrestle. If he breaks down, retire, Phil.

“I won’t work with Punk.” “We gotta fill a 90k seat stadium.” “I can’t wait to work with Punk.” Maybe Tony's testicles finally descended and he simply told them who is boss.

So like AEW presents Ring of Honor for Saturday <.< But wait, I thought Warner was unhappy about the ratings AEW was getting, why are they getting another show <.< And all shit that was speculated on in the past few days. Punk returning for Forbidden Door makes absolutely zero sense.

Does wrestling simply provide some sort of loyalty/consistency for content that networks like? Like what do ratings mean today? They must be meeting a sweet spot or I guess Kahn just had the money and it talks.

They must be meeting a sweet spot or I guess Kahn just had the money and it talks. The way I’ve always understood it is: wrestling is super cheap to produce compared to other genres. And typically it draws decent ratings even when they aren’t great. For the price, it’s usually better than other new content.

I had been enjoying aew so much without all the focus being on punk. I understood aew to be a wrestling first company, and the man can not go anymore.

And the numbers set the price you can get for commercial time. Which is what is most attractive about wrestling.

Punk was having consistently awesome feuds and most of his matches were good to great. He wrestles a slower style than he used to, sure, but he’s such a good storyteller that he makes it work. But I get what you’re saying. AEW has barely faltered since Brawl Out. Yeah there was a lull in there through Feb/March but they pulled out of the nosedive and they’ve been awesome again for some time. And the response online to Punk news this week has been pretty chill, as in most fans seem to be like “ok great if he comes back yay if he doesn’t AEW is still great so yay.” Which to me says they are in a good place either way.

Well, we'll agree to disagree on his matches. I would say his were passable at best, because mh expectation level is built from the rest of the show

News gets more and more interesting about that new show. Sounds like it will be built around Punk and have a soft split roster. Which could get interesting if they run that one more like NWA and build around guys like FTR. Not sure if it will happen, but variety in shows is a good thing. Do not the like fast spotty style of Dynamite, well here is a slower, more traditional group on Sat to enjoy instead.

I don’t think this would be a permanent thing. I think it could be a tool they use to cool everyone down since people backstage are still pissed and Punk hasn’t apologized (as far as we know).
Much like his debut on Rampage, Punk kickstarts the new show and appears there to drive ratings, then as they figure out who can work together and who can’t things get shuffled around.
A hard brand split would be stupid and I really hope Tony knows that.

I can see them booking it like ROH, where you have your core guys and there's some exclusive guys on the show.
I think the last thing they need is another TV show.

Warner wants the show as it is easy ratings for them. And there is no reason for their stuff not to be televised instead of tossed on Youtube or locked into Honor Club. And Tony is paying enough people, while we well get them on TV weekly instead of leaving them in catering.

If Tony can't find room for a talent when he already books 6-7 hours of TV each week, chances are an extra hour or two isn't going to make the difference. Like I said, it's the last thing they need and Rampage has already hurt the quality of their product.
