Men (if you are a landlord too that will help) I need your thoughts on this situation.
Two of my Ukrainian girls that we hosted for a month, got their own place. Last Tuesday they were cleaning their apartment and when the one was wiping it down, one of the glass shower doors shattered. It was safety glass so of course it shattered into a million little pieces. One of them was nicked in a few places but nothing that required stitches. I helped them clean it up and noticed the bottom piece holding both the doors had come 'unstuck' which may have made the door less robust and the contractor came and said they shouldn't have to pay because it was an accident. However, today their landlord is wanting to charge them half the cost of the shower door replacement and install. I don't think they should have to pay unless they damaged stuff all the time, which they haven't.
What say/think you?

I mean I can see it form both sides. But the landlord is being a dufus. I mean I’d probably fix it unless it was probable the girls did it on purpose. Or gross negligence. Good tenants are hard to find, so keeping someone happy is a good idea. The fact that at from another count and women might figure in too. Half doesn’t seem to unfair though. But if I were you and them I’d remember who I’m dealing with when it comes time for walkthroughs and move outs and whatnot.

I told them half wasn't unfair, but I kind of expected the landlord to pick up the bill this first time, especially when the contractor and I both mentioned the same thing. The landlord knows their situation too and that they work 6 days a week at crappy minimum wage jobs trying to make a life here away from war.

Okay my IT specialists. My mom is having a bad day at work. Apparently she plugged in a heater, tripped a breaker and shut down the servers. The IT guy is saying he now needs a new CPU? I asked why their server wasn't on it's own breaker and that their IT guy sounds like a mook.

How come he would need a new CPU? Power surge could have fried it. So... The breaker tripping couldn't have fried the server. Breakers only protect against short circuits not over current. If the heater was faulty then maybe.... But I cannot fathom a server with at least no surge protection. Even if the server fried, I would expect the power supply or the motherboard before the CPU.

We are hosting our group of Ukrainian families here on the 26th. We have gotten them all gift cards and the ladies I bought body creams and chocolates for so they have something to open. I have a father and a son to buy for though. The 18 year old son is easy, but I am struggling on what to get the father for a gift. I need something that isn't too personal/intimate, nice enough but won't break the bank. I know very little about him. Ideas>

Even if he’s not, a good set of pliers or screwdrivers is good to have even as renter. If he works outside trucker or ball caps are always a welcome gift for me. Burnt bald spot sucks. Coffee or water tumblers are handy too. If you can find out if he supports a team and, the hats or tumblers become easier to pick out. Flash lights even as a renter I always needed a good flash light.

Thanks guys. I bought all my families a simple but effective tool kit when they moved into their places. A good multi bit screwdriver is a great idea though. Also, good call on the coffee/travel mug All34LOL. I forgot I have a friend who does vinyl designs on them, so I shall get him a travel mug with the Ukrainian and Canadian flag on it.

Next pondering...
So I am trying to help my two new ladies from Ukraine with their resumes. I am coming up against an issue for one of them in that she was a C list celebrity in Ukraine and made money as an influencer on Intagram/Tik Tok mostly. How in the hell do I put that on a resume? Do I list it as Freelancer? She is also interested in video editing.
The other one (who is her partner) was also making money this way, but also was a server/barista, etc. and is a nail tech so that I can work with, but I'm just at a loss how to create a CV for the influencer.

What about consulting work? Especially if she was hawking products.
At the end of the day, making some sort of money as an influencer is not that uncommon anymore and could be expected to be onany resumes in the future.

I know, but right now they are just looking for a J-O-B so how do I translate that into marketable skills for a minimum wage position?

Photographer is a good way to list instagram as you basically do your own photo work.

To get the skills ready for a resume break down their online stuff into the skills used to do it.

Content creator would be a title to use, I would have thought there be plenty of 'social media manager' type jobs she could apply for.

Social Media Manager is a different sort of job, more related to marketing. Generally need experience with search engine and impression optimization. Over here at least, they want a degree in marketing, with a focus on digital marketing to get in the door.

Yesterday my headlights and my heat stopped working. I figured out the headlights situation and got a new fuse, but the no heat thing is confounding me. The fan is blowing but it's just blowing cold air and it's not a fuse cause I tried that.
Are any of you good with cars?

Weird, my mom's car has the same issue with the heat stopping yesterday. We are thinking it is her thermostat.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. Just odd that it happened same time as my headlights.
I'm going to replace the cabin air filter too and maybe flush the coolant system. My car sits a lot now that I work form home 90% of the time. Would you take it in someplace to flush the coolant system or is this something I could do?

Flushing is pretty easy but it can be a bit messy depending on where the bleed valve is. Just watch a YouTube video and you’ll be set. The thermostat should be easy as well depending on the location.

I just don't like when the videos claim it's EASY and then the time is like 30:47 - the hell it IS.
