We're halfway through the season - time flies! Week 10 begins with an important AFC South matchup as the Falcons and Panthers meet for the second time in three weeks. Carolina have made the slightly surprising decision to stick with PJ Walker at QB after his truly horrendous performance against the Bengals, and as a result you'd have to fancy Atlanta to take care of business. The Falcons are offensively challenged themselves, Drake London and Kyle Pitts disappointingly have only combined for 500 yards, but they can run the ball well and you'd think that would be enough to record the season sweep over the Panthers.
The first ever NFL game in Germany kicks off the action on Sunday, with Bruce Irvin set to become the first player to play in five different countries. The Seahawks are one of the most in form teams around, Geno Smith continuing to roll and K9 Ken Walker emerging as one of the new star RBs, while their defence has really turned a corner with key contributions from Ryan Neal, Tariq Woolen and Uchenna Nwosu. The Bucs continue to scuffle around, but did get a last gasp comeback victory led by a salvo of Tom Brady magic. It didn't really feel like a potential turning point for them though, as they remain one of the worst rushing offences in the history of football, and their passing attack continues to be hampered by receiver drops and miscommunications.
In the early window the marquee matchup is Buffalo against Minnesota - you would have got some long odds on the Vikings entering this game with the superior record! This feels like a litmus test game for Minnesota, they've been a very under the radar 7-1 by virtue of the teams they've faced, but their schedule really starts to stiffen up over the next month. They might be the beneficiaries of facing a backup quarterback, just as they were a couple of weeks ago against Miami, with Josh Allen's availability up in the air. Whether or not their superstar QB plays, the Bills will be looking to bounce back from their surprise loss to the Jets, and maintain their hold on the AFC #1 seed.
In the late afternoon there will be plenty of eyes on the Colts, who have quickly turned into a complete tyre fire operation. They've gone from a COTY favourite and a former MVP QB leading the show, to a high school head coach, a quality control coach calling the plays, and a sixth round draft choice starting at QB in a matter of weeks. They face the Raiders who's head coach might not be long for the world either Vegas have been one of the most disappointing teams in the league, offseason hype quickly disappearing amongst shutout losses and terrible blown leads. The other contenders for most disappointing teams also feature at 4pm, the Packers facing a virtual elimination game against former coach Mike McCarthy, and the offensively inept Rams hosting the dysfunctional Cardinals.
Rounding out Sunday we have the first instalment of consecutive Chargers SNF games. LAC have managed to weather the injury storm reasonably well to keep in touch with the Chiefs in the AFC West, but are still a shell of the operation that they had the potential on paper to be. They're a TD underdog to the 49ers who are coming off their bye, and prior to that, a fantastically efficient performance against the Rams. The presence of Christian McCaffrey appeared to be a true game changer for San Francisco, and definitely raises the floor of a Jimmy G led offence.
Monday night looks like it could be another easy primetime ride for the Eagles, much like their past game against the Texans. Washington have a little bit more juice with Taylor Heinicke in the lineup, but they are a significantly inferior team to Philadelphia, and the Eagles are a professional outfit who don't appear to have any issues playing down to their opponent - they should handle their business here comfortably/
