Christ all mighty, I didn't realise how quickly she was pushing out albums. And from the get go as well. You can understand the dominance she has on airways now, seeing she always has something etching itself into people's heads.
The old hipster in me liked her early stuff better, especially being guitar driven and, I've always had time for small town sensibilities in music, and obviously country music reflects that.

Reputation(2017) …Ready For It?” “End Game” (feat. Ed Sheeran and Future) “I Did Something Bad” “Don’t Blame Me” “Delicate” “Look What You Made Me Do” “So It Goes…” “Gorgeous” “Getaway Car” “King Of My Heart” “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” “Dress” “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” “Call It What You Want” “New Year’s Day” The old Taylor is dead 😦 heel turn! Taylor has had enough of her reputation being dragged and is admitting she’s a toxic man eater..for a few tracks, then it’s back to love songs about men. I’m not well versed into the Swiftie community but I believe it’s “Gaylor” the fans that believe Taylor isn’t straight. I really doubt that as she makes the straightest music ever and that’s not an insult, it’s refreshing to hear sweet songs about romance rather than all men are trash/are munches you hear a lot. There’s a small splatter of the latter (rhymes like dimes) in this but it’s mostly about her supposed bad reputation. Other than being a serial monogamist & reportedly lying about giving permission for Kanye to use the infamous “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous” line on The Life of Pablo, I wasn’t following her career so unsure of the other factors regarding this half baked heel turn. So I thought this was thematically very jarring and almost bi-polar at times but I really enjoyed the electronic direction a lot of the tracks went in and usual there’s several great tracks that became hit singles. Maybe if I was hardcore into the fanbase and knew how harshly she was being scrutinised at the time I’d get it but I think it was obvious she couldn’t stay America’s sweetheart forever. Favourite Tracks: Don’t Blame Me, Getaway Car Least Favourite: This is why we can’t have nice things, Dress Rating 7/10

System what are you doing while you listen to 10 albums a day? I barely have time for music these days, or maybe it's because I don't make time for it. What's the secret? I normally listen to 2 albums before work Work 4pm-12am Then try to listen to another 2 after work. More if it’s a day off. While listening I play sincerely one of my favourite games on PlayStation, Lawn Moving Simulator Or Call of Duty but success in it is very dependent on listening for footsteps and other noises so listening to music doesn’t help 😂 There’s always background music playing at work but you can only hear it when it’s quiet. Smashing through David Bowie albums wanting a break…go to work. You can guess what’s playing 🫠.

Fearless was the first album of Taylor’s that I bought even though it was a few years old at the time I think. I performed Hey Stephen on the guitar/singing for my HSC practical music exam. You Belong With Me is a banger though.

Red(2012) 1. "State of Grace" 4:56 2. "Red" 3:43 3. "Treacherous" 4:03 4. "I Knew You Were Trouble" 3:40 5. "All Too Well" 5:29 6. "22" 3:52 7. "I Almost Do" 4:05 8. "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" 3:13 9. "Stay Stay Stay" 3:26 10. "The Last Time (feat. Gary Lightbody)" 4:59 11. "Holy Ground" 3:23 12. "Sad Beautiful Tragic" 4:45 13. "The Lucky One" 4:00 14. "Everything Has Changed (feat. Ed Sheeran)" 4:05 15. "Starlight" 3:41 16. "Begin Again" 3:58 Like many artists they have a floundering few albums and finally hit their mark or do a 180 and change up their sound completely. While there’s still some semblance of the old country stuff this is a great album that mostly gives you what you want out of a pop album. Starts off with a bang with “State of Grace” and it’s clear the new direction her music is going in and was a pleasure to hear so many instantly recognisable hits on one album. The album is on a roll from tracks 1-9 (curious if “Stay Stay stay” being the track after we are never ever getting back together was an intended joke) then just kind of hits a lull except for Everything has changed, with the latter half of the album it fizzles our rather than ending as strong as it started. Glad Swift found a new direction for her music to go as this is much more enjoyable than her first two albums. Favourite Tracks: 22, we are never getting back together, stay stay stay Least Favourite: Starlight, Begin again Rating 8/10Ironically, I was obsessed with listening to Never Getting Back Together, when System and I did in fact get back together 😂 I knew you were trouble is my favourite song off this one.

1989(2014) Welcome To New York Blank Space Style Out Of The Woods All You Had To Do Was Stay Shake It Off I Wish You Would Bad Blood Wildest Dreams How You Get The Girl This Love I Know Places Clean Not surprised this album took influence from the 80s as much like Michael Jackson’s 1982 album thriller this album seemed determined to make almost every track a possible single with an insanely catchy album that only lets you get your breath back with 1 or slower tracks (that are great) and then heading back to its fantastic upbeat sound. 7 out the albums 13 tracks were singles that charted if that’s any indication for what this album was going for. Every track perfectly flowing into the next track was a great touch also. This album had a reputation to live up to (much like the next album 😒) and it definitely delivered as one of the best pop albums I’ve ever heard. Ironically like My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy you can hear the concentrated effort to make a masterpiece. Max Martin being brought into co-produce was an excellent move as he’s had a part in countless hit singles that you could dedicate an entire thread too. It’s almost entirely just fun from start to finish with any “woe is me” type stuff delivered playfully unlike on Fearless. Reminds me of Daft Punk in places which was not a comparison I was expecting to make. I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to say this will go down as one of the best and most significant albums of all time, it’s sales and ongoing praise will only continue once it hits the “classic” age in in the early 2030s. Favourite Tracks: Welcome to New York, Style, Shake it Off, Bad Blood Least Favourite: N/A Rating 10/10There is one song that will turn you into a Swiftie for life, Blank Space is that song for me. My work colleague Buckie said Wildest Dreams and there are so many others who became a Swiftie from this album. It’s a classic. Also the video clip for Bad Blood was amazing.

Lover (2019) 1. I Forgot That You Existed 2. Cruel Summer 3. Lover 4. The Man 5. The Archer 6. I Think He Knows 7. Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince 8. Paper Rings 9. Cornelia Street 10. Death By a Thousand Cuts 11. London Boy 12. Soon You’ll Get Better (feat. Dixie Chicks) 13. False God 14. You Need to Calm Down 15. Afterglow 16. ME! (feat. Brendon Urie) 17. It’s Nice to Have a Friend 18. Daylight Swift is back to being a babyface and America’s sweetheart with a love letter to love. Despite being 2 years older than me her songs released as an adult still give off a youthful and joyful out look on life. I’m glad this era was a high point for Swift judging by her getting out of her old record deal and embracing who she was rather than the heel turn attempt that felt like Flanders sitting on a chair backwards. That being said, this album is really bloated with quite a few forgettable tracks and for the most part I believed Taylor had been living what she wrote until I heard London Boy. I don’t believe for a second Swift has ever been to Camden, why lie to us all? What’s next? The Beach Boys had never surfed when they released Surfin USA? 😒 There’s some great singles here as always but it’s a compliment to Swift that I’m disappointed there’s only 2 singles I recognise on ONE album, with some acts never getting a hit single ever let alone 3-5 on one release. Me! With Brendon Urie is a personal favourite. I’m glad Swift embraced what brought to her the dance with her joyful pop anthems about love but this could have benefited greatly from trimming the fat and leaving only the best tracks to make another fun concise album like 1989. Favourite: Me!,Cornelia Street Least Favourite: London Boy, Cruel Summer Rating 7/10

Folklore(2020) 1 The 1 3:30 2 Cardigan 4:00 3 The Last Great American Dynasty 3:51 4 Exile 4:46 feat. Bon Iver 5 My Tears Ricochet 4:16 6 Mirrorball 3:29 7 Seven 3:29 8 August 4:22 9 This Is Me Trying 3:15 10 Illicit Affairs 3:11 11 Invisible String 4:13 12 Mad Woman 3:57 13 Epiphany 4:50 14 Betty 4:55 15 Peace 3:54 16 Hoax 3:40 Every time I see this album for sale on vinyl I glimpse for a split second and wonder why a Burzum album has been so prominently displayed, then I realise it’s Taylor Swift. There’s no tales of succumbing to evil or freezing to death in the harsh Norwegian winter it also embraces a Cottagecore aesthetic and has a much more somber tone than previous releases. Rather than drawing from personal experiences there’s an overarching story to the album with a love triangle told from different perspectives. It’s not readily apparent but gives it replay value for a deep dive and I’m sure hardcore fans loved it. Released during the 2020 lockdown this is Swift’s most experimental album yet, at least for someone that’s a huge pop star. I wasn’t expecting Metal Machine Music (though maybe could have for her last Big Machine Record) but it’s quite refreshing to enjoy a slower more striped back release. Being a surprise album released in the lockdown I can imagine Swift had a lot more freedom with the album process and it shines through. Not every track hits the home run but this was a pleasant surprise me as I’m sure it was to the fans that listened to it in 2020 as it captured said years sombre yet cautiously optimistic tone. Favourite tracks: this is me trying, exile, cardigan Least favourite: The last great American Dynasty Rating 9/10

Evermore (2020) “willow“ “champagne problems“ “gold rush“ “tis the damn season“ “tolerate it“ “no body, no crime” featuring HAIM “happiness“ “dorothea“ “coney island” featuring The National “ivy“ “cowboy like me“ “long story short“ “marjorie“ “closure“ “evermore” featuring Bon Iver As much as I loved this album as much as I did Folklore, I don’t have a whole lot to add as it’s built on what it had to over with a little more variety and more upbeat (by comparison) tracks with well placed features. Maybe I’ve just been listening to clean version this whole time but hearing Swift drop the F word was a shock. Great sister album to Folklore. Favourite: No body,no crime, happiness Least favourite: Dorothea Rating 9/10

Midnights(2022) 1. “Lavender Haze” 2. “Maroon” 3. “Anti-Hero” 4. “Snow On the Beach” Featuring Lana Del Rey 5. “You’re On Your Own, Kid” 6. “Midnight Rain” 7. “Question … ?” 8. “Vigilante Shit” 9. “Bejeweled” 10. “Labyrinth” 11. “Karma” 12. “Sweet Nothing” 13. “Mastermind” There’s also a track 14 on the Apple version of Taylor explaining the album’s concept that BLEW OUT MY FUCKING EAR DRUMS and is way louder than anything else on this whole thing. A compact album that for the most part captures the beauty and magic of a late night out as well as the more depressing and introspective thoughts after said night ends. Just like Earl Sweatshirt’s I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside you can feel what time this album is intended for even if it wasn’t called midnights. A few tracks didn’t really fit and felt like B sides left over from Reputation but they weren’t awful or anything of that nature. Lana Del Ray featured on Snow on the Beach as Marilyn Manson did Jail (Part 2) before it was tweaked, surprised they didn’t remix it before release. Also I loved the track overall but did none of Taylor’s team tell her how bad the lyrics “Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby And I'm a monster on the hill” sound. Good luck to any men trying to cover this song in future without sounding like a massive creep. Felt like the after hours version of 1989 when the party is over and the fun has stopped. Favourite tracks: Anti-Hero,Karma,Labyrinth Least Favourite: Bejeweled Rating 8/10

I haven’t listened to much of Lover - but Me! Is one of my favourite songs and I still listen to it on a regular basis. Super fun to sing and dance around to.
I haven’t actually listened to Evermore or Folklore yet, I’ve been meaning to listen to all her albums one day just like System has but I didn’t realise how many albums I’ve actually fallen behind with hahaha.
Midnights, I keep hearing the songs and I really like what I’m hearing just no idea which songs are which. Though they have turned my other work colleague Lisa into a huge Swiftie, and she has 2 of the songs on repeat

No chance of getting tickets to the real thing so settled for the film and it was really enjoyable. Backup dancers were incredible as was the overall production value, remind me of those North Korean parades. I love to see a BTS on this as the logistics of pulling all of this off would have been insane

My wife and I took my daughters (10 & 6) to see the Eras movie last night. I am a low key fan, my girls were introduced to her music by the songs I play whole cleaning up the kitchen after dinner.
I am reading a book that is a study on Mastery as a concept at the moment, they talk about Einstein, Bach, Mozart, Coltrain, Edison etc. I think you could add Swift to the list, doesn't mean you have to love her music but she is the apex predator of pop music. She gets fans and the need to build a community and create space for people's dreams inside her music... She's incredibly intelligent and a fantastic actor.

The re-recordings are smart business move but Swifties are insane, referring to the OG albums as “stolen versions” as if she still isn’t getting money from them.
I’m sure she’ll manage as a billionaire.

It's finally my TayDay! Outfit is ready, friendship bracelets made, I'm so excited! Enjoy! Keep us updated on the frenzy Glad I someone I know was able to get tickets  Oh my gosh it was incredible. I had high expectations and it exceeded them in every way. We got fantastic seats (advertised as restricted view but a million times better than I saw some people on the floor with), an amazing group of people around us, A+ surprise songs, and the 3.5 hours just flew by. I cried multiple times and nearly lost my voice from singing/screaming so much. I could talk all day about it (and have been to anyone who will listen) I'm just obsessed. ugh MOTHER. I have post concert depression now though. This had become my Roman Empire with such a long build-up and now I'm left wondering if I will ever see/feel anything that good ever again.
