It was a murder in the UK where JKR is one of the most vocal people on trans issues. Game had nothing to do with it, but JKR and the British media def did, and they used the attacks against streamers to bash the trans community yet again. And the difference between women and trans women is not what JKR is simply saying. She is also constantly reposting things on twitter that imply men become trans women to rape and assault women. That is the problem with her.

Shit so bad right now that even peeps like Kidd Bandit are getting scared to be out in public in case he needs to use a bathroom.

As for this being a GOTY candidate, I think it has a good shot. On track to be the greatest selling single player game of all time, and people who play it without caring about the controversy are having a blast. Sure some big games are coming out, but most hyped stuff is established franchises that will lack a real sense of novelty. And Starfield we all know will be a buggy mess, it is the way of that studio. I can see people snubbing this due to controversy, but denying that people loved it will be hard.  Given the controversy seems mostly dead right now already with that girl being killed, and rage going back where it belongs, in 10 months doubt anyone will care.

And Blindy brings up one of the best points IMO. Remember when Blizzard was cancelled and people shit on people for supporting them? Seen many of the same people now excited for Diablo IV.

That's my issue it's always an implication or interpretation when she's been clear with her words. To twist her views and then use that interpretation to blame her for a murder we know little about is completely unfair and unreasonable. I know you're just the messenger and just echoing those who share those sentiments but it's ridiculous.

Open world adventure game like Zelda, except you get magic instead of a sword.  Looks really fun.  Waiting for a sale to play it myself.

I will say this, all JKR had to do was to denounce TERFs, and stop retweeting them, and this entire debate would have ended.

It does look really fun. Not sure if I should fork out now or wait for a sale. I'll probably wait. Nobody is even talking about the gameplay itself...

It is your standard fare action RPG style combat mixed with puzzle solving and questing.  Hogwarts is fully fleshed out with systems there to teach you the game via the classes.  As you do stuff for people there, they start to become your friends and can be party members.  Plenty of gameplay footage on youtube.  Like most ARPGs, it is boring to watch, but fun to play.

I got it wishlisted and will buy it at $30 since it plays on the steam deck.  So likely during the fall or winter steam sales.

Not at release. After a year numbers do not really matter anymore.  If I figure out how to pirate it on my steam deck before then will do that instead.

And frankly I am pissed at both sides in this, as the allies going around telling people they were horrible for playing this, lead to people snapping back at trans people and giving them shit.  Most trans people I follow still not returned to twitch.  

Another one gotten by the angry mob. Doxxed and harassed to tears. Seems like they go after the vulnerable female streamers, haven't really seen any male streamer outside of the boyfriend of Girlfriend gamer get any flack.

Trolls like to target girls because they get better reactions.  The reaction to this stuff lead to death threats on unrelated trans people.

Girlfriend Reviews did their video about everything that went down.   She also kind of destroys the message that the media created around her.  Basically they will not review it because they did not like the game or the situation.   And appears in her case many of the trolls likely came from the people who trashed her for enjoying The Last of Us 2.  As the shit that happened here were pretty much the same as what happened after their The Last of Us 2 video, from staged attacks, to attacking them for being transphobes.



For people who did not see the shitstorm about Last of Us 2 this is what happened because they reviews the game.  Very similar stuff...

Think it's a case where they have no choice but to pander to the audience they have built up and try and be on middle ground at best to not take a full side. They can't go full deep into embracing all of the people who are right wing or anti-trans/woke or else they will segregate a lot of their audience(They were trying to mock and bash Rowling while streaming as they caught fire upon streaming it).

They won't review the game because it isn't worth it to do so. There's so many other upcoming games they can make just as much money on, why even bother with Hogwarts Legacy knowing full well what can happen.

Yeah best for them to just move on, as nothing good came from this game for them. Why spend more time on content that will just bring hate towards you?

Really feels like it was the Last of Us trolls attacking them under the guise of woke activists given they were attacked heavily on reddit at the same time, and mass reported with their subreddit taken down. Being mass attacked by trans redditers trolls without a thread in the trans subreddit just feels a step too far. Also this group is incredibly anti-LGBT, so they get the bonus of seeing trans people being blamed for their actions and hate being sent there.


Lines up with the people we have to ban in the stream I mod too, as both people had ban evasion tags, which meant we already banned them under different accounts. Did not even play the game there, just mentioned and they started to spit out trans hate, they attacked us in the unban request.

Is there a sizeable trans community in the gaming sphere vs. the real world? Or was this just used as a means of protesting the anti-trans world builder behind it? Like if the trans population is such a small population why is this being pushed as such a big deal?

Or perhaps there's more younger generation that identify?

The trans stuff is being pushed so much as people hate trans people and this is a way to bash and claim you are doing the moral thing.

Trans gaming community is really small. And most do not really want to be outed as trans online if they can help it as being trans online means you get death threats.

Do you think trans is the new gay? It's really not socially acceptable to hate gays without being a bigot, but trans seems like open season.

There is a higher representation of trans in the gaming community and since there's a push to making games a safe environment, these issues are highlighted more than they otherwise would be.

In the end the controversy just resulted in more sales for the game and did more harm than good for the trans community. Shame about the latter, especially the ones who weren't trying to ruin somebody's experience with a game but it's good to see another line was drawn and people can actually talk about one of the biggest releases. Especially those who don't actually play games often but love HP. I've heard plenty of instances of people buying a PS5 simply to experience the game.

And the controversy is likely over, as the next anti-trans topic was found. For those in the streaming know, appears trans streamer Keffals may have scammed people by doing a gofundme for supposed legal fees due to harassment, then pocketing 100k cash and using them for a drug fuel bender as she traveled around Europe. She said she was going to use the cash to fund a lawsuit but no suit was ever filed. She is a fav target of the anti-trans mob and seems like a damn good focus for their hate as this looks true.

Also popularity of the game is rapidly declining on twitch as people finish it. Likely game will get a revival next year when the price drops, as $70 is a big ask, but at $35 should be a good buy. Doubt people will care by then who plays it or not, and likely game will have more content.

I love how this thread started with “I don’t want to talk about the JKR vs Trans community and has been 99% JKR vs Trans Community.
