In other news, Max Caster will be attending sensitivity training for the third time.

Foley dropping weight for another match. He wants Mox or Cardona in a deathmatch. If Mox I assume then it is AEW, then at All Out. If Cardona, I would assume TNA. Likely will be his final match. Didn't he chicken out when Mox first signed? Why now? Chef Boyaredee royalties finally drying up... Foley turning 60. Using this match as a reason to drop weight as well.

I hope he got the green light from TK because that would at least put most of the blame on Khan for letting one of his talents run that line but IDK. Khan said everything Caster says goes through him but that might only be on AEW TV. Caster probably held that one to the vest. He also made a line referencing The Rock finishing his story or something. Feel like you live by the sword, you die by the sword when it comes to being risque. When it hits, it hits. When it doesn't like this one, oh boy.

Reported that CMLL will likely be at the next Forbidden Door PPV.
Also being reported that Tony was not reason Stardom girls were not in AEW. Some news that Tony only wanted Stardom girls when they had big events but sounds like BS as a lot of the shows just do not line up, and if this was the case, they go just have the girls at a different time. Feels like US wrestling journalism getting exposed to the insane drama that is joshi politics.

Fight For-Never has been dropped to $29.95.
Maybe the single biggest free fall in modern wrestling game history.

Fight For-Never has been dropped to $29.95. Maybe the single biggest free fall in modern wrestling game history. No joke I saw it on sale at GameStop last week and thought the same as KJ. I was like “I still wanna play this…but not even for $30.” Note for your next video game: DON’T GIVE A WRESTLER CREATIVE CONTROL OVER A VIDEO GAME. Also maybe include your whole roster because your target audience doesn’t like DLC. You should fucking know this. Anyway if it drops another $10-$15 I will probably buy it. Worth it for the No Mercy vibe alone.

I wonder what the sales were like, and how many copies TK bought to pump those numbers.
In fact, for his dismal performance in the video game market, Tony should be forced to buy every physical copy he comes across to stop any further insult.

TK did not pump up sales. No sale figures but at peak it was 30,000 concurrent players on steam. Palworld just hit a new record with 2 million for scope.
Last 30 on steam for fight forever is 12.7 players average on at the same time. Dickie's Wrestle Empire has four times as many on right now. 2k23 has 1,756.
So yeah it was a massive failure with no legs on PC. Doubt console is much different in terms of ratios.
2k23 is also now $30 but no one thought it was newsworthy as games rapidly do cut price to increase sales.

I must have missed that when I was pre-ordering my copy of AEW Fight Forever II.

Fight Forever is still too expensive. That price cut should be a GOTY type of release that includes all the DLC and an overhauled CAW system. Then include a road-map for the next season, new modes, new features, new stars and try their best to salvage this like Hello Games.

Swerve confirmed WWE tried to get him back but he is not interested. Said he is not returning to a place where he cannot be creative and have his own say in his character.
///
For Fight Forever best to cut loses. They tried a game, it did not work, move on. Pouring more cash into is not gonna fix it. In the future they should look to do what NJPW did with Fire Pro and license the roster for use.

If it were a WWE 2k clone, it might have worked. But playing to the nichiest of a niche audience and letting people who don't know what they're talking about influence the product, that made it DOA.
It was like Herb asking his brother Homer to design a car. It was never going to work.

It would not have worked. It is a numbers game really, not enough AEW fans wanted a game to make one and have it succeed. Every none WWE, and even some WWE games struggled to sell, so it should have went without saying an AEW game was not the best of ideas. They should have licensed the roster at release to FPW.
Also why get an AEW, when you can easily CAW AEW into a WWE game and play both rosters? At least on PC you can pretty much download AEW right into your game with few problems. A few moves are missing but it is close enough.
Think this also proves once and for all, fans claim they want No Mercy again, but they actually do not.
///
Looking like Forbidden Door this year will be AEW vs CMLL vs NJPW. Assume will go CMLL guys cannot face AAA guys, but otherwise it is all good to mix everyone up.
Hopefully Tony moves past trying to work with Stardom that is splitting and just works with TJPW as many people already appeared without problems. These girls have gimmicks that sell themselves too in most cases.

Spike are finished with Fire Pro. Sure, AEW could have hitched their wagon in 2019, but once they released a Move/Part suite that allowed the community to build any wrestler they wanted from scratch, the DLC would have been pointless. Fight Forever shows that the basic IWC fan doesn't know what an AKI game is. It's only through mods created by AKI fans that you get a game that remotely resembles the flow of action and even then they can't save the game from the crippling lack of customisation.
What I don't understand is why they didn't go the Fire Pro route. If they wanted to make an AKI game, just rip No Mercy off entirely, release it a budget price and slowly release more features through DLC, enabling a small but dedicated community to do the heavy lifting. Let it get over as an indie spiritual successor throwback and find it's audience.
In no way should it have ever been released as a AAA game.

I am just not seeing an overall market for a non-WWE game. I honestly think even if this was a solid game that wrestling did like, it would still not be enough to sell it. You just do not really see really wanting a wrestling game. Let along one based on a 20 year old game. Fire Pro did ok, but not great saleswise. They did move content well into 2020 though, so AEW could have attached and if DLC sold, done a few content packs that way to at least test the waters first.
But even FPW sold nowhere near WWE levels. Even WWE themselves found their games not selling very well, which is why they did those skip years and demanded changes. In general wrestling games do not have much demand these days.
//
Also looking into price history the WWE games go on sale usually a month after their release. Generally 25% after a month, then 50% after six months. As do many sports game as sales for all 2k games seem to be in the gutter. Gaming trends are for social games, and these have disappointing online multiplayer stuff.

They did move content well into 2020 though Yeah, that was the Parts/Moves DLC which was Spike's way of telling their community if they wanted more updates to the game, they were free to make it themselves. If AEW wanted to release a DLC, they would had to have jumped in right away and who knows what kind of licensing agreement Bushiroad had with Spike. NJPW/AEW had a very tense relationship to start off with, so that may have extended to their partners. Regardless, AEW wanted to make their own game. They went in with the idea of making No Mercy, but somewhere along the way they wanted to include their own ideas so you got these Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat style mini-games, a Yakuza style season mode, a Battle Royale mode and features nobody wanted while core features were neutered to compensate. They spent way too much time and money on a project that should have cost them a fraction and would have been better received. This idea that fans got No Mercy and rejected it is so far off base. It would be like saying Mega Man fans got the game they wanted in Mighty Number 9 when it was a bad attempt. I'll be very curious to see how Universal Pro Wrestling is received on release. That appears to be the actual No Mercy inspired release. Do I expect it to out-sell 2K? No, but if it's good it'll find it's audience and would have cost less with a much smaller team behind it.

I imagine Ultra Pro Wrestling bombs. Same deal there is little market for it even if they are starting to get guys to agree to appear in it. I assume it sell far less than Fight Forever did.

I presume it wouldn't have sell that much to make a better ROI than Fight Forever tbf.
It's sales figures aren't what I'm interested in regardless. I'm just curious to hear how it's received by the community and if it'll have any staying power whatsoever. Fight Forever barely lasted a week before the community turned on it and realised how limited it actually was.

These game usually get a strong core base, but not really widespread appeal. Doubt you get much talk about this outside of the core base either. How many even know it is being worked on? On twitter less than 10k people following.
