the great thing about the Thea Hail / Gulak and Dempsey mentoring angle is that you can't really tell if the botches are part of the script or a product of this still being developmental

Yep, it was Damon Kemp vs Eddy Thorpe (with Damon Kemp's brother as his cornerman, which I thought for sure would play into the finish somehow)

and while I was googling to make sure, turns out there's a real-life Damon Kemp about the same age on trial for murder so I wouldn't be super duper shocked to hear about a quiet rebranding
