Draft beast Kilgore may but you can never count on me. Even if I had a perfect draft (not gonna happen considering my first three choices were Undertaker vs. Michaels, HHH vs. Cactus, and Bret vs. Austin in that order) you can never discount my penchant for shooting myself in the foot via zaniness. Like that draft where I had Michaels, Taker, Vader, Eddie, Muta, Pillman, and Scott Steiner yet my main event was Roman Reigns vs. Matt Hardy, and Teddy Hart was in the penultimate match  :lol:

Call We can have different matches involving the same wrestlers, right? For example, if I drafted Michaels vs. Taker- Wrestlemania 25 could I also do HBK/Taker Wrestlemania 26 and Badd Blood: Hell In A Cell in later rounds?

Sorry Baker but no. I'm sorry if it wasn't clear but it's one and done. So many top level wrestlers have had so many great matches together, let's look at Dazz since he was the first pick. If I let that go he could use

Austin vs Rock at their 3 Wrestlemanias and he's got nearly half his roster there.

Thinking as I type, I guess we could revisit this issue if we're getting deep into round 6 and it's becoming impossible to draft. We're swimming in some unchartered waters here.

Thoughts of everyone else? Did you have the same sort of thought as Baker?

Man, this was tough. This is the first time where a draft has felt like it's had both an offensive and defensive element in that I wanted to go with matches that were strong but also deprived others of other matches. But then I hated leaving certain big names on the table too. This is gonna be a cerebrally challenging and thus super fun draft.

Nah, it just worked out that way. I thought about drafting with defense in mind for my first pick, but I thought Bret vs. Owen was a legit 5 star match, and it would ultimately be dumb to try to prevent somebody from drafting Michaels, or a different WM match I was considering.

Damn Emperor, that's a high class match selection there. I figured due it happening so recently I had to grab Cena/Styles first.

Dazz, I have mixed reactions to your AJPW pick. I'm pleasantly surprised because I didn't think anybody besides myself would even think of such a match. But I'm a seething ball of rage because that pairing is my favourite and it's no longer on the table. I'm also pleased because I haven't seriously considered Japanese matches yet and you didn't block my intended third pick. Good choices.

Yeah, I was going through a list of matches, saw that one and remembered watching it a year ago and loving it. My familiarity with AJPW is very low for the most part is I haven't seen as much a I would like, but I knew I wanted that match and Bryan/Nigel as soon as I saw them on a list.



Funny enough in regards of taking Kobashi/Hansen from you, was my original two picks were gonna be Nigel/Bryan and the ladder match between Jericho/Benoit.

I love this draft idea. I'm not going to be on here much for the next while, which is why I didn't jump in to sign up, but I will be following this with interest when I can. The wrestlers being taken off the table once a match of theirs has been picked is entirely what makes this.

I think 8x8 is a smart initial size for this and it will be interesting to see when people really need to start dipping into places they are less familiar with like 80s territories, 70s and earlier, Japan, even Mexico. Or maybe they won't have to since there are only 64 matches being selected.

Ah man KENTA vs Low Ki is a good get. That match was on my list.

So was Gargano vs Almas from the latest NXT show, but there was a couple matches I had in mind ahead of it that I wanted on my list more, one of which I grabbed. I took it because I expected more Japanese guys to go before it got back to me, and Tanahashi and/or Naito would be on a lot of radars.

I'm curious to see where we're at after this next round. The list of quality wrestlers is disappearing fast. It'll be really fun to see what everyone pulls out for their last few picks.

To be honest, if I hadn't fudged up Warrior/Rude (assuming it was a valid pick), I'm not sure I would have gone for Sasha/Bayley as my subsequent pick. Still felt a bit too early to go for the women's matches, but circumstances forced my hand a little.

I'm actually surprised most or all of the great modern NJPW wrestlers and the 90s AJPW matches have been picked already. Those are the kinda matches I was hoping to grab in the second half of the draft.

I'm getting killed here. My whole plan was predicated on having just enough to hopefully squeak through the first round and then I'd be set with all sorts of options in later rounds where I think most people are going to struggle. But you guys are ruining everything with these picks. Pillman, Funk & (weirdly) Big Show hurt the most. And to add insult to injury most of my backup/safety options are gone too- Tully, Piper, Jeff Hardy and the All Japan guys.

That's good thinking, but you put too much faith in me When KENTA vs Low Ki popped up I felt a little embarassed because I hadn't even considered either wrestler. I really am trying to make the most strategic picks, at least in terms of grabbing the "biggest" wrestlers/matches available at the time instead of going for my personal favourites. I'm generally aiming for older US matches because I don't think picking random Japanese wrestlers is the way to win a lot of votes. I'm probably mistaken on that looking at how the draft has gone so far. This draft rules.

Ah, I had a feeling someone would nab Sasha vs Bayley early on, if you can call this early. Easily the best women's match I've ever seen. Great pick. It was next on my list after the one I just took.
