In AEW, they dropped the relentless and miserable asshole that is Punk into a cesspool of obnoxiousness and immaturity, and gave everyone too much rope to say and do what they want... what did you really think would happen? As much of a prick Punk is, he wasn't lying about the chumps working there.

There's a much higher degree of professionalism in WWE, if some of these guys are upset by Punk's return, then they're against making money, because Punk can and will be money for WWE.

Like they had in Chicago? Indiana? Philly? TNA? ROH? WWE? AEW?

I am sure THIS TIME it will work.

And yeah Seth is working people, he is Punk's first program.

I mean, it doesn’t work, and it might not, WWE will just keep going. They aren’t dependant on anyone. The only guy they may depend on a bit is never there to depend on anyway. I don’t think it’s lower risk for WWE because Punk is suddenly a nice person, I think it’s lower risk because what’s the worst that can happen? If he pisses people off they’ll just bin him.

They'll want the storyteller for the magnitude of interviews he's likely ready booked for to speak about his departure and eventually return. They'll want AJ at some point, and this is the best bet on getting her. She deserves a HOF induction and because of hurt feelings, she barely gets the credit she deserves for starting the women's revolution. That's right, I said it. It wasn't The Bellas.

And Punk doesn't have to work every week, he doesn't even have to work every month. The Undisputed Champion has been MIA for weeks. There's absolutely no reason why he can't work that same way.

Here's what you do if you had any real concerns. Let Heyman handle him, and also book his segments and matches. He'll respect that.

Yeah Punk a far bigger star than Sting ever way. And he did things Dragon could dream of having done in WWE.

I'm surprised the WWE pulled the trigger on this show. Punk's return was an inevitability, but the WWE tend to be picky when it comes to surprises. Usually they'll telegraph it well ahead of time and make sure it doesn't conflict with any other storyline they're pushing. So with Orton making his return after an 18 month absence, I could just picture the company line being 'You wanted to over-shadow the return of a certified legend? On top of that you wanted to rush the return of one of the most controversial sports entertainers after nearly 10 years away for one cheap pop? You've been downing too many Blue Chews, pal.'

Yet here we are. In a moment that was eerily reminiscent of AEW's golden period, we got the big Chicago pop for Punk and the 2-1 All In 2021 surprise appearances. The only thing that was missing was the best version of Cult of Personality.

I'm very curious to see what the follow-up is. Punk's been away for so long that it'll be interesting to see how he fits in. I expect him to be used more sparingly and have some level of creative control over his feuds. It'll just be interesting to see how they address the past 10 years.

It's wild how much time has flown. I still remember it was around this time all those years ago I was hoping Punk would take time off because he looked so burnt out and wasn't really necessary with Bryan, The Wyatt Family, The Shield, Evolution etc. were around. To think it was only a matter of time before he was gone for nearly 10 years. That whole 2014 Royal Rumble fiasco really turned me off that whole era and kind of poisoned that whole 2011-13 period where I was actually invested in the show. This is an opportunity to make amends and enjoy what could be a fun Wrestlemania season.

Sometimes you just got to stick to your guns no matter what.

I'm definitely intrigued with CM Punk returning to the WWE, just like I was thrilled to see him pop up in AEW. Honestly, I'm hoping for the best, but we'll see how things go, over the next couple of months.

They're really going to stretch out Rollins/PUNK until mania haha

We joke, but Tony should really release Jungle Boy.  He cannot get over in AEW.  Maybe WWE can get him over.  When a guy is off TV and no one misses them, they should just not return.
