I agree that Cody should not have won the rumble if this was the end game but the Punk injury threw this off. If Rock was getting in WM, he should have come out and won the rumble. The Punk injury threw everything off though.

I don't blame Rock for trying to save WM for the paying customer and think it's a little unwarranted to boo him out of the WWE and I am not even a massive Dwayne Johnson guy either. I don't necessarily buy Sean Ross Scam dirtsheet shit that Rock is single handedly trying to hold Rhodes down, why? This dream match has been teased for years, including Rock holding Reigns hand after winning the Rumble which the fans also booed mightily about.

They should have had Cody win last year if they truly cared about "finishing that story with Reigns", the iron was actually hot then. Especially when Reigns lets you know he can't be a full time champ.

We don’t. But we do know it won’t be Cody v Roman at WrestleMania. Cody said as much in his promo. “I’m going to take that title and everything away from you.. it just won’t be at WrestleMania.”

The internet seems dead set to band together to get Cody v Roman shifted to Elimination Chamber and have Cody defend the title at Mania and the Rock/Roman match be for Head of the Table and not a title.

Every person buying a ticket to RAW and Smackdown needs to hijack the show and give Cody his spot back.

But I'd be ok with Cody winning at Elimination Chamber... maybe, shenanigans are afoot during the match and Rock makes the save and Layth the Smackdown on a cousin or two and evens the odds, allowing a Cody win - setting up Rock v Reigns at Mania.

But who does Cody defend against at Wrestlemania?

To finish the story!!!  Dusty never got to unify two belts only to have them to create a new one right after!!!

But seriously, it does make sense, as soon Raw is going to have to have to go dark for three months.  Unify the titles before that, then when Raw returns introduce a new title to start things hot.  I would king of imagine the lead-up to Netflix raw will be Raw vs Smackdown as well.  I do not see them just benching a roster for three months.


Rock is getting heavy boos at live events now and absolutely trashed on social media.  Likely will force him to work heel during the match.  Which is fine here, people want to work themselves into a shoot, just means we get the better version of the Rock as heel Rock is so very much better than face Rock.

Almost certain they make money from this, and Rock turns heel and make Roman for face.  As a heel Rock is one of the absolute best heat generators.  People want to hate on him, he can gave them a show that has them hating their little hearts out.

If Rock and Roman is at WM, it is headlining. If they do not headline it will be WM 18 all over again. People walking out during he main event, dead crowd and all that because the main event will be Rock vs Roman, no matter where it is on the card.

Logan Paul is trying to win the respect of the locker room(If he hasn't already) but again Cody is winning the RAW title and is going to get even more sympathy and heck still get to close out a night of Mania. That's a win. He went from getting booed on sight at the end of his AEW run to being the top babyface of the biggest wrestling company.

Needed some nostalgic driven star power for the casual audience to grasp upon, especially if no Austin or Cena or Taker to sell on.

And it was kind of weird that to headline WM all you really had to do was just jump from AEW, then just come collect your title for doing so. I mean I am an AEW guy, but how weird would it have been the day after WM to have two champs that were All Elite while many others on the roster were busting their asses for WWE.

Part of me wants to think that Rock doesn't have the legs in him to work a particularly long or great match. Sure, he was never Bret Hart in the ring... but he was entertaining, and it will likely be a match filled with a lot of shenanigans from The Bloodline... a wishful thinker in me hopes Reigns naturally has Solo or Jimmy interfere to retain the title, and just as the beatdown starts, Cody makes the save and Rock uses his stroke and says " fuck it, finish the story! " and Cody gets his main event and everyone goes home happy having witnessed Rock v Reigns and the Cody title win in the space of an hour.

What's weird is that a half-witted leader allowed such a toxic culture to fester that it alienated and cast out two guys who became Wrestlemania Main Eventers upon their release. 

I mean in hindsight, siding with The Young Bucks really puts you on the wrong side of history when you consider the successes and growth - or lack there of - of the two companies over the last few years. 

Sure the WWE homegrowns will be happy then with all the rumors that more people may jump. Maybe then when no one else wants to come over they can get their own shots at the top.

Hot take - Cody is a much bigger star than most want to admit. Raw in the last two years has had more sellouts than any period since the Attitude era. Nothing to do with Roman or the Tribal Chief story when it was really good - that was on SmackDown. People just love Cody.
