An announcement from WWE & Pro Wrestling NOAH is set to be made this weekend.

It was revealed today that WWE & NOAH will be making a “major announcement” at NOAH’s Grand Ship 2024 show in Yokohama, Japan this Sunday (June 16).

Last month, Yasuaki Okamoto — the new president of CyberFight — stated that one of his goals was to strengthen CyberFight’s relationship with WWE. CyberFight is the parent company of Pro Wrestling NOAH, DDT, and Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling.

WWE is returning to Japan next month for its first events in the country since 2019. There will be three WWE house shows from July 25-27. The events are taking place in Osaka and Tokyo.

Grand Ship 2024 is being headlined by Kaito Kiyomiya defending his GHC Heavyweight Championship against NJPW wrestler Gabe Kidd. The show will air live on Wrestle Universe with English commentary. In Japan, it will stream on Abema. Abema is also WWE’s broadcast partner in Japan.

Do not see WWE talent ever appearing in DDT or TJPW. And WWE already has a deal with a competitor of TJPW in Marigold they are sending talent too, that does not like to share anything really with other Japanese feds. DDT I think is a fed WWE will not want to be linked to do to things like guys wrestling sex dolls, or homoerotic wrestling. Also AEW also has loose deals with both feds dating back years.

But trying to save Noah would not be a bad idea for them to do, and lending them talent would help a lot. Would love to see Kaito on WWE TV even if American fans shit all over him. AEW does not use Noah guys either due to their deal with NJPW.  Also the lineage of Noah I can see WWE wanting to get hitched to in some way.  A few guys from the history of the company should be in the HoF if they are not already like Misawa, Kobashi, Morishima, etc.  Be one hell of a tape library to get access to as well to showcase.

Hopefully this all does not mean the Noah - NJPW gets severed.  They need NPW far more than WWE right now.  WWE is a may help thing, NJPW is helping them domestically to survive.

Some suggesting that this could be an announcement of Endeavor buying Cyberfight. Would hate to see DDT and TJPW go, but financials are said to be really bad and could happen either way.

Otherwise like Nakamura or Gunther challenging for the title.

All this cross promotion stuff happening gives me so much hope we are going to see something with WWE and AEW down the road. Not any time soon, but man…why not? I know deciding who pins who would be a logistical nightmare, but we inch closer and closer every day to some massive appearance.
