Hell yeah guys that means a lot for ya'll to back me up for this. This is a dangerous young man I'm fighting he trains at a pretty historic MMA gym out of Louisiana with Joey Beltran as the striking coach. He knocked out his last opponent in 7 seconds in July. After taking some of the shots I took last night sparring I'm feeling pretty confident that he will not finish me that fast but still. This is going to be a hard, dangerous, uphill challenge, I'm going to have to fight my fucking ass off and there is high likelihood of me suffering a life changing injury. So nerves are setting in now, and doubts. Also remembering what it was like when ought in Monroe Louisiana back in the day against a Louisiana guy, they don't like Texas fighters and will root against them big time if a homestate guy is up against them. So will be a hostile crowd actively rooting for this guy to knock my head off.
I thought this was available on Triller app but I'm just now noticing that it isn't on their schedule for the 28th, also noticed that their last event isn't on there either so maybe they don't do that anymore. Bummer I have a lot of people wanting to watch it. I will check and see if there is a way to stream it somehow and keep ya'll updated. One of the guys I worked with informed me today he dropped over $200 on tickets for him and some friends to come watch, no pressure there lol.

Worked one on one with the top boxing coach in our area last night, $75 an hour, hes the reason behind any success at that MMA gym I been training at the reason why some of those guys won belts in Legacy and made it to the UFC. I felt fresh and in great shape and put in some bad ass work with him he gave me a lot of props got me feeling very confident. Big deal

Doubts sinking in pretty heavy now. Just realizing that this really was not part of my plan at all. I was set to fight MMA on October 26th I had 8 weeks to get ready as of September 1st, then just could not stand my ground and turn down this kickboxing match. I'm not a kickboxer, never done it before. This guy I'm fighting has most likely been focused and training for this event since early August when it was announced, while I took 3 weeks off from the MMA gym to focus on conditioning to get ready for an 8 week training push for October 26th. Basically took this fight with 3 weeks notice like a real idiot, having not fought or done anything in 16 years. Pretty much feel duped by the matchmaker now. Thing was that I knew it was coming, I knew these people had 4 fight cards they were trying to book so I was waiting on them to hit me up to fight on one of the earlier ones and knew I had to stand my ground and hold out for October 26th.
And the thing is that the guy I'm fighting is juiced in with the promotion. The fight team he trains for is pretty much who owns and runs this promotion, it's their baby. So judges, referees, most likely all going to be way biased towards protecting him. On top of him being in front of his hometown crowd. And he's training with some real killers, a few UFC fighters.
It's too late to turn back now, I've never backed out of a fight before and not going to start now. I'm in amazing shape and done just about all I can do to get ready, as much as a single dad can do that has 2 hours round trip driving back and forth to work 8 hours all day and take care of a kid all night. I just wish this was an MMA fight where I would be more in control, taking that away takes all of my strengths away, I'm a sitting duck now to get my head knocked around, jaw broken, one of my arms broken blocking kicks or knees, just lovely.
Fuck it man. I've done all I can do. I plan on pushing through all weekend and figuring out how to rest and heal my broken body next week while also not falling out of shape. Here we go.
But this is definitely most likely going to be it. Honestly yes I can say that it's all over with after this. If I lose there is no point in trying to chase this anymore, that is going to be a big embarrassment. If I win then why not just close the book on a high note and let it go. I'm getting home at 9:30-10 every night and only get to see my baby boy for an hour or two before it's time for bed. Since he has no mother to take care of him this is just really stupid to keep chasing this. It was fun Summer and it will be cool to make that walk next Saturday night but also feel like I'm gambling his life too, If I get injured and can't work that only hurts him, I'm all he's got.

It's normal to have doubts. He's having doubts right now too. He's thinking about how he has everything to lose with his fighting career and how you have nothing to lose with your fighting career and how that makes you a dangerous man. And he's right. You're not a kickboxer, but you know how to stand up, and you can clinch, and there's nothing he can do with you in a clinch. Imagine a kickboxer in the clinch with you. You're laughing right now, aren't you? Make it ugly, I'm talking Randy Couture vs. Tim Sylvia ugly, smother his skills, give him no room to punch and kick with any power, and use your grown man strength to push him backwards all fucking night. He wants you in the center of the ring at the end of his punches and kicks, so you're going to get in his chest and put him on his back foot against the ropes not knowing what to do next instead, and he can't breathe because you're suffocating him there. Crowd is booing, his corner is begging the ref to restart off the ropes, screaming at him to “Take a point away!” And you're just going to work. If they restart, you'll push him right back and do it all over again. You're just winning rounds, not fans, not some crooked piece of shit promoter's heart to book you again, you don't care how it looks, nothing has ever mattered less than how it looks, because this is your last fight, and you're winning rounds.

Second time Kilgore has got me out of my head. I love that motherfucker more than ever. I just need to relax and remember who I am and what Ive been through and soak this all in because this will for sure be the last rodeo. Ive decided to walk out for the fight to the Pride FC theme song. Just need to relax and be loose, I remember how much of a goofball I used to act like back in the day before a fight fucking with everybody to just stay loose, singing Conway Twitty Hello Darling backstage at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium probably in the same dressing room he was getting ready to rock that place in, the fucking high priest of country music. Lets have fun with this man, im 39 years old in the best shape of my life I got the fucking six pack of a supermodel right now. Im grateful that I get to do this. I have put a lot of pressure on myself to win this but need to remember that just to make that walk and hang with this kid is a huge win for me, especially looking back at where I was this time last year. Love you guys ❤️ lets finish this the right way my way

Ive decided to walk out for the fight to the Pride FC theme song. Man, I was wondering what you were going to walk out to last night right after I posted, so it's funny that you mentioned it today. Was pulling for Walk ala RVD, but the Pride FC theme is a perfect choice for you.

Ive decided to walk out for the fight to the Pride FC theme song. Man, I was wondering what you were going to walk out to last night right after I posted, so it's funny that you mentioned it today. Was pulling for Walk ala RVD, but the Pride FC theme is a perfect choice for you. I walked out to that for my second fight that I won, my 5th fight in Jonesboro Arkansas. That was a great night. I went into that with a 1-3 record and had so much pressure to avoid a 4th loss it was almost unbearable. Before walking out for that fight I had made my mind up that I was just done with it all that that was my last one. I had started training with a great team for that fight and was up against a guy from their big rival gym a gym called Spartan Fight Club, they had beaten a few guys I was training with at the previous event and had beaten them in a fight before mine earlier in the night. That was probably some of the most pressure I ever felt. I went out there and dominated the guy, the worst beat down Ive ever given anybody. I pinned him up against the fence and behind his back I gripped my fingers through the fencing to trap him in a way the ref couldnt see it. I used my head against his and pushed his head over to the side and brought a knee up high that clipped him on the eyebrow and opened up a nasty cut. I kept breaking his posture over and drilling him with knees, id bring my leg up high and drive them down almost like something Kevin Randleman would do almost like a pro wrestling thing so everybody in the crowd could see where they were coming from. Each shot sent blood splattering out onto the people sitting at the ringside VIP table, they started holding up their white table cloth to shield themselves from the guys blood but they were like laughing about it so we had like a sick Gallager type deal going. After the first round I had the guy shook, I had him flinching from Sakuraba style kick feints, I kept feinting a spinning back kick to set up nasty leg kicks. He bled a lot, and the crowd was pretty heartless about it. Guys in the crowd near my corner were screaming for me to kill the guy at that point I started feeling bad for him. I took him down in the third round and felt like it should have been stopped but they let it go, I had the guys blood all over me and could even taste it in my mouth. I took it easy on him in the last minute but the tough fucker never quit he got up in the last few seconds and kept coming after me. At the bell I grabbed him by the face and apologized for what I did to him and told him I didnt want to hurt him. I had bad dreams for a while about some of the looks in his eyes when I had him pinned down. He ended up being a great guy and went on a win streak after that fight, I earned respect from everybody that night including his fight team, they all stayed late to watch my last fight in a co-main event a few weeks later even though they all had a hour and a half drive home and most of them had to work the next day.

Becoming the Gallagher of blood splatter is so perversely funny. Also dudes fucking rock. Temporary bonds coming from a fight like that.
That story, though, absolutely drives home that you pinning someone up against a cage/ropes and going to work is the way. That is the blueprint.

That story, though, absolutely drives home that you pinning someone up against a cage/ropes and going to work is the way. That is the blueprint. Its crazy that fight and the previous one I won without throwing a single punch standing. I had zero confidence in my hands and my nose was still fucked up from being broken a few weeks prior in my very first fight, so I had no intentions of standing and trading punches with guys, I would come out juking around like Pedro Rizzo like I was going to but won those first 2 W’s exclusively with kicks from way out of range, and brawling in the clinch and on the ground. My coach noticed this and really focused on my hqnds over the next few weeks and I let them fly in my next few fights.

Had a great last night of sparring tonight, sparred for an hour after warm ups just rotating around, went with a few big names, nothing super hard but the one on one session I had with the boxing coach last week made a big difference. I've gotten a lot better at landing the jab on the move and something we worked on for the fight was pinning the guys right hand to set up my own overhand right, I landed that a few times tonight pretty perfectly. Looking forward to working with that coach against tomorrow night one on one. Wednesday I think I'm going to do a light jump rope session, a few rounds of shadow boxing, a few rounds on the heavy bag. Thursday I'm still not sure yet but not a lot. I was just wore out dog tired today at work everything is sore and stiff, I have busted my ass for like 30 straight days without taking any days off. I'm supposed to be in Shreveport Friday around noon for official weigh ins and then a ceremonial weigh in later that night. That is going to get me in a bit of hot water with my job taking off Friday I'm supposed to give 2 weeks notice for taking days off, I didn't find out about the Friday weigh ins until Saturday so that is kinda fucked up.
One thing I noticed tonight, when sparring I started out in the MMA cage they have set up. My footwork in a cage is just naturally awesome, the way I was able to move and create angles. When I switched over to the ring it did not feel as good, I kept circling into power shots and finding myself in the corner or against the ropes. I went 0-2 in my fights in a ring and did not like it, I'm just a natural in a cage but in a ring it's so different I don't like it. I really wanted to do a fight in a cage where I could use jujitsu and wrestling/slams/strength but going to have to make things work.

Fun fact, at 39 I am the oldest of all 20 fighters on this card. I feel a bit disrespected that they got me fighting second, feel like this should be a much more prominent spot on the card if not headlining kickboxing bout, even though I'm 0-0 kickboxer I've got 9 fights and have won a belt, that's more experience than most of the prelim fighters combined. Just that much more of a chip on my shoulder to take in there. I'm feeling confident and ready.
