I agree that Dark Phoinex is the worst Xmen film by such a margin it is not close. Sophia Turner cannot act even a little bit, which is why she was so convincing as a clueless bumbling idiot in GoT. And the actor that played Cyclops, just put a visor on a block of wood next time.
I cannot really bring myself to watch the Joker, if I wanted to see something about a slow decent into madness, I would just wait for my biography.

El Camino-Near perfect epilogue to Breaking Bad, about the only fault is that flashbacks don't quite work with the aging of the actors (Jesse Plemons is long past his Meth Damon physique), but other than that, didn't miss a beat from picking up where Breaking Bad left off. Another worthy addition to the world of Breaking Bad, now Better Call Saul just needs to fucking come back already.

Hustlers:
Great crime drama & a sight for sore eyes 🤤. I was ironically one of two guys in the theatre, was more in Magic Mike 😂
Gemini Man: Ironic this week that this empty void of a film is thrown into cinemas to please the Chinese market. As soon as I saw the Tencent logo I knew not to expect much.

Long Shot: It had a few funny moments sprinkled throughout the movie but for the most part, I was bored by it. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though, as it does have Seth Rogan in it, and I’m not really a fan of his. Hobbs & Shaw: This was everything you would expect from a Fast & Furious spinoff film, which is to say a lot of high octane action. While both The Rock and Jason Statham were great in this (as they did a great job playing off of one another), I found myself enjoying the few scenes between Hobbs (Rock) and Ryan Reynolds' character (Locke) more than anything. 2019 Movie Rankings 19. Triple Frontier 18. The Intruder 17. Godzilla: King of Monsters 16. Long Shot 15. Hellboy 14. Shaft 13. Men in Black: International 12. Aladdin 11. Stuber 10. John Wick 3 9. Captain Marvel 8. X-Men: Dark Phoenix 7. Shazam! 6. Hobbs & Shaw 5. The Lion King 4. Detective Pikachu 3. Alita: Battle Angel 2. Spider-Man: Far From Home 1. Avengers: Endgame

OK, final assessment of Popstar from both Wife and I: Hilarious. Wouldn't have made either of our lists, nor would we go out of our way to rewatch, but it was good and Wife says she loves UT recommendations and will watch anything you recommend.

You should just start making up that UT recommended things that you want her to watch. Then if she doesn't like it you can just blame it on UT. This situation sounds like a win/win.

Happy you guys found it hilarious but it’s really not bad as a lazy rewatch either.

Zombieland: Double Tap
Pretty good sequel considering it’s been 10 years and was completely unnecessary

The Riot Club.
Aristocratic rich kids from Oxford, part of a drinking / dining club - sounds edgy - get out of control. Every character is a painfully smug, awful human being in their own unique way. That’s the point.
A night on the juice in a remote hotel results in a trashed establishment, a viscous bashing and what I thought was going to be a sexual assault or two.
People like this exist and it only supports my argument, the rich don’t have mental health issues, just behavioural. And money and class doesn’t buy character.

Thank You For Smoking (2005)
Aaron Eckhart is often cast as a smug, arrogant prick. He's good at it, but how does that reflect on his personality? I doubt Eckhart cares. His character in this movie, Big Tobacco spokesperson Nick Naylor, certainly wouldn't. Naylor is a man who knows he's doing a bad thing but doesn't care. He's a master spin artist, who narrates his exploits in charming fashion.
The film is a satirical black comedy, and a very effective one, because it does make you think about how manipulative these kind of companies can be. It's also funny, well cast, and has a strange warmth to it. Pretty good way to spend 90 minutes.

Pretty sure Eckhart is only cast in any movie because of the perceived personality you mentioned or because of his butt chin. Some roles because of both.

Ready or Not: Fantastic horror film with a simple premise that gets to the point. None of this unjustified 2 1/2 hour BS like Midsommar and IT Chapter 2,
Really funny today, really captures being at a family gathering you feel uncomfortable at perfectly.

Making good on my movie recommendation backlog. UT, working on Raging Bull. Is it supposed to be this cheesy? I thought the boxing scenes were supposed to be realistic? This is worse than Rocky.

My wife is a big fan of Joe Bob Briggs on Shudder and he’s showing Halloween tonight and had an interesting point that between the steadicam work, some Hollywood polish, and putting the movie in cineplex was instead of Grindhouse theaters and Drive Ins like other horror movies of the day has given it its status as the first major horror film. The way he summed it up was that you could go see a movie about a psycho that didn’t look like it was made by one, comparing it to Night of the Living Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre which came out before but didn’t have the Hollywood shine.

Wait, so you actually did watch Major Dundee and your entire review on it was " Lionheart, Major Dundee?". What. This is the WHAT DID YOU THINK thread, not the WHAT DID YOU WATCH thread. Come on!
...or did you watch it and think nothing?

Can't believe 🤯 hated Raging Bull that much. I mean it is the type of movie I said I'd never watch again but I enjoyed it the first time enough for the character work all the art put into it. I guess I could get it but I certainly didn't find it cheesy.

I guess I could get it but I certainly didn't find it cheesy. It was mainly the boxing that was cheesy. Reflecting back on it more, especially after reading up on the real La Motta, I feel like I was maybe being a little harsh. De Niro and especially Pesci were great in their performances... Although they also didn't feel necessarily unique from all their other classic goomba portrayals.

It wasn’t unique in hindsight but in that point of their careers I think it was and a great performance is a great performance regardless.
The boxing stuff don’t bug me , as I’ve said in the past I barely consider it a sports/boxing movie anyways. All that shit is irrelevant to the bigger picture and story being told.

This past weekend was the last weekend for my local drive in theater. so we went on Friday night and saw Zombieland 2 and Joker. Zombieland 2 was just as good as the first, to me. i really enjoyed it.
Joker isnt my taste, personally, but it was a good film. almost made me feel sorry for him.
