Countdown:I really enjoyed it as dumb mindless fun, was expecting it to be like Final Destination but it’s gimmick still worked.

Caught Coco before Netflix drops it, pretty dang good, not one of my favorites, but enjoyable start to finish. 8/10

Frozen 2 hit all the plot points I expected it to and came up with a perfectly fine conclusion... but man it was mostly boring to sit through. The first is an easy watch between the catchy songs, bits of humor, and good story. This one was only really good when it was riffing on the first one.
Oh well, hopefully I won’t see it nearly as many times as I’ve seen the first.
Also I caught Detective Pikachu free at the theater this weekend. It was good. Predictable plot for the kids, but enough humor to keep it fun.

Countdown: really great balance of creepy and funny. Story is simplistic, similar to Final destination if you enjoy that franchise.
Under the silver lake: what a weird weird weird movie. It was like The Neon Demon meets Josie and the Pussycats, meets US and Midsommar? Was just an absolute mess, definitely wasted 2 hours watching it.

Halloween 4. Only seen the first 2 up to this point. Loomis is such a treasure.
Also caught the first Texas Chainsaw for the first time. LF's first appearance really freaked me out with the squealing. Reminded me of Mankind, although I guess it's probably the other way around as far as influences go. Hoping to reuse "first" a few more times in that sentence. Alas...

I recommended that movie to System months ago. He seems to be into off-kilter movies like Mulholland Drive and Mandy and thought he'd appreciate how creative and interesting the film is. I also like it because it's a type of movie that isn't trying to entertain everyone. It's a love it or hate it movie and I'm always curious to see where people fall between the two lines. What I liked about it was how open to interpretation it was, but even if you just accept the movie on face value, you got a proper narrative.
If you're curious, I'd recommend the RLM review. Personally love their Plinkett reviews and find their thoughts on movies fairly constructive.
That's an interesting combination of movies, I'd be lying if I didn't admit to being curious about the Josie comparison. Personally I got Inherit Vice meets Brick vibes with some Kubrick and Lynch influences sprinkled through out.

Stuber (2019) You know that big muscular guy who was the World Champion in WWE for a while, like 15 years ago? He had a big rivalry with Triple H? David something? He's the main guy in this film! Where did that come from?
Stuber is a pretty entertaining buddy cop film, and I believe it's "Big Dave" Dave Bautista's first leading role. His character is a fairly typical tough guy macho cop, and the plot isn't anything groundbreaking, but there's still plenty of elements to make this film feel fresh. The whole Uber gimmick, the quirky humour, the mockery of action film tropes. It's all good fun. Dave feels right at home, verbally jousting with experienced comedian The Big Sick's Kumail Nanjiani without difficulty. One of the main plot points of the film is Bautista's character going into action as his sight is recovering from eye surgery, which results in a lot of hilarious physical gags, the highlight being his fight with Nanjiani's character in a sports store.
A good laugh and a very fun way to spend 90 minutes. Big Dave is Big Success.

I was late to the party but I found Gone Girl entertaining. Great swerves and misdirections. It didn't forcefully try to be clever. Really well shot. Fincher is a master.

Watched The Report on Amazon today. It’s a brutal takedown of the enhanced interrogation techniques used by the CIA post-9/11 with Adam Driver, Annette Bening and a lot of people you’ll recognize from tv like Jon Hamm, Michael C. Hall, and Maura Tierney.
It’s good. Not great but solid and worth a watch if you have Prime.
After finishing that I tried Lady Bird. It’s affecting, though probably more for females than for me.

An Australian take on the 1%er biker world in the wake of countless SAMCRO inspired movies that no one actually watches.
Although universally panned, the first half does a great job at setting up a gritty as hell, far less glamorous world than SOA.
Focuses very quickly on the young VP who has been leading the club - wanting to legitimise it’s business - and the returning recently incarnated president. While the first half is good, it escalates this conflict into bloodshed far too quickly failing to really expand on the world these blokes live in.
Another half arsed Australian movie relying on a gimmick.

The Dark Tower-Sucked.
Us-It was okay, but literally called the twist as quickly as it was set up, way too predictable. Not as good as Get Out, nothing I'd watch twice.

Pluto was swapped also seems to have a lot of credibility to it

Possible, but doesn't really add much to the story. I'd considered it, but there were a few things that just didn't jibe for me to commit to the notion, like he alone being taught to speak prior to an event they have to know about in advance (why wouldn't they all learn to speak?), or the other Jason never reacting to what would be his real family. Just don't think it's right

As you get near the end you begin to loathe both characters that you keep reading not to see the good guys get what they deserve but to see how these idiots are punished. Both the Dark Places movie and Sharp Object show are good as well. Gillian Flynn is quite the writer.

Threat Level Midnight- Well worth the wait after famously being stuck in developmental hell for years. Definitely writer/director/producer/star Michael Scott's magnum opus. The acting, writing, and special effects were all top notch. I expect this to clean up come award season. 10/10.

It was so long ago that I watched the show that I don't even remember if it played the full movie or not.

What do adults even like about Frozen And whoa, "feisty pants"!?!? In a DISNEY movie?! Just gonna assume Elsa and Anna have perky nips since it's cold in the movie. Course I've only seen the first 20 minutes and intend to never watch past that for life.

What do adults even like about Frozen And whoa, "feisty pants"!?!? In a DISNEY movie?! For a kids cartoon that I’ve had to watch six dozen times, it’s a pretty easy watch. Got a few funny moments, better songs than most of the Disney catalog (extra points for keeping them short), and it has a quick pace so it doesn’t feel like ninety minutes. The second one is not nearly on the same level. I don’t know if it had a song that was better than the fourth best song in the original, most of the humor came from jokes about the first one, and the story is blah.

Emperor just watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. I demand he provide us with his thoughts. I don't know what you're talking about. Actually, I do know what he is talking about. I was going to post a review last night but decided that sleeping was a better option. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)The title is a very strange one, but I gotta admit, it does describe the film very well. The story is certainly about three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. There is no doubt about that. No sir. Whoever thought up that title did a good job of describing the core plot point of the film. Those three billboards drive the actions of the characters from start to finish. Great movie. Better title.
