Did not get people to see it is the problem. People who did check it out almost universally loved it. Was not really marketed in a way to get people interested though.

I loved it because it was a break from the norm. The same with Solo. If they made a war series set in the Star Wars universe in the vain as Band of Brothers, I would lose my mind.

Rogue One doesn't getthe love it deserves. I personally think it's the 4th best Star Wars movie past the original trilogy...though I guess that isn't the highest of bars.

I wanted to like Rogue One but it was the most miserable fan fic movies that added absolutely nothing to the series.
If somebody told me an AI wrote that movie, I'd believe them.
The rag-tag group they assembled felt like a parody - it was like something out of MacGruber or Deadpool 2.

Honestly other than the end scene with Vader I don't even remember the movie.

The Mother: This was a decent enough action thriller, granted one that relies heavily on cliches. This is the second movie, to release this year to star Jennifer Lopez, and definitely the better of the two IMO (the other being Shotgun Wedding). The Pope’s Exorcist: Russell Crowe is easily the best part of this film. If I’m being honest, the horror stuff was kind of weak though. Supposedly, the movie did well enough, that a sequel has already been announced. Between these two movies, I liked The Mother more than The Pope's Exorcist. 2023 Films SeenAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham Cocaine Bear Creed III Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Evil Dead Rise Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 John Wick: Chapter 4 Knock at the Cabin M3GAN Missing Murder Mystery 2 Peter Pan & Wendy Plane Scream VI Shazam! Fury of the Gods Shotgun Wedding The Magician’s Elephant The Mother The Pope's Exorcist The Super Mario Bros. Movie Unseen Your Place or Mine

Lony I honestly would have preferred the film without horror and just have a story about how Crowe’s character deals with the politics happening in the church. Rogue One is the only Disney Star Wars film I liked & actually felt in tone with the other films.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods-Was a solid flick, pity it didn't do great, so we'll probably never see what that little bitch Mr. Mind is actually up to.

I saw Little Mermaid yesterday. I don’t understand who watches the cartoon and was like “let’s make it 50 minutes longer, so we can fill that time with the prince’s backstory, some bland new songs, and less color.”
I don’t want to be cynical about why Disney keeps doing these live action remakes of their own stuff, but that was tough to see as anything but a money grab. The girl is fine, Melissa McCarthy was great, and the movie was awful.

In the past week I have watched John Wick 4 and as someone who has always enjoyed the mindless violence of the previous movies, this one was hard to sit through, I was honestly bored. Second movie was Air and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, really enjoyed the Affleck/Damon scenes, it was a solid story, I would have liked it to follow the launch of the Jordan brand a little more.

The Boogeyman: One of the most boring and cliched horror films I’ve ever seen, creatively void by every possible metric and an absolute chore to sit through. 0/10 Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse In no multiverse should this have been 2hr 20mins long, it starts off at an absolute frantic pace with great animation, humour and Easter eggs and then about halfway through grinds to an absolute halt right until the end of the film that came an hour after it should have. Story was a convicted mess and this felt like episodes a show clipped together rather than a planned out film. I couldn’t believe after that absolute slog of a third act that it has the audacity to end on a cliffhanger with a “to be continued” as it they couldn’t have just cut all the filler out and given us the ending

I had a gut feeling Boogeyman would be bad. Sad to see I was right. Last Voyage of the Demeter better deliver for horror, as so many things this year did not.
Waiting for video on spider-verse, but do not really have high hopes as I did not like the first one.

I thought Into The Spider-Verse was PW's best superhero film ever*, PW's favourite film*, and so on. Where's all this hate coming from?
*excluding The Dark Knight

Waiting for video on spider-verse, but do not really have high hopes as I did not like the first one. As the biggest Spider-Man fan on PW, I didn't really care for Into the Spider-Verse either. Both of my boys love it though, so I've seen it more time than I care to count.

I really did want to like it, as I love Miles and Spider-Gwen, but the animation I found so jarring I just could not get into it.
New one uses a different animation styles so may check it out.

Interesting as I hate Miles with a passion and found it rather enjoyable despite going in expecting to hate it. Hell that's what I assumed the "spoiler" for ASM26 was... killing Peter to make Miles the one.

And fuck Marvel for killing Khan as a publicity stunt.

Look I hate to fall back into old spotty mode. But how can anyone criticize the animation in these films? It’s literally revolutionized the industry. I know it’s subjective and god dammit I hate to sound like that fucking guy… but when I hear “I didn’t care for the animation” I wonder if you can see. Anyway like don’t like it’s fine it’s just I’ve never heard anyone say that before.
As for across the spiderverse. It was phenomenal. Too early to say with the third chapter looming but it could end up being the best superhero trilogy ever. They get so much of it on the nose. Animation phenomenal, eager eggs awesome, story full of heart just like the first one. Best movie I’ve seen this year.
Oh yeah no movie has empired this good since empire.

I loathe motion smear animation which is what they use for the default style. Makes me sick due to the blurriness and jerky nature due to the low FPS rate.
They leave this style I am ok, but that style gives me motion sickness and a migraine.

Normally I am fine in movies, but low frame motion smearing in movies or games and I am done.

Normally I am fine in movies, but low frame motion smearing in movies or games and I am done. Gonna be tough for you like any animated film anymore i guess then. You can see into the spiderverse’s Oscar winning animation being copied by everyone now. Haven’t seen any animated film including from Pixar that I haven’t seen that movies fingerprints on.

They are not using the same animation method. Some are influenced by it, but not animating with the double 12s, which is I assume is the exact thing that is fucking with me when coupled with smear. But older animation did this to me as well, like the classic 1940 stuff. VR also will give the same effect when badly optimized.

Got to love despite a backlash from the alt right, Spooder is making cash hand over fist. 120 million opening weekend, over three times the opening of the original, and only two other live action Spooder films did better. Internationally over 200 million so movie is already profitable. And if it follows the path of the first film, will likely stay strong for a few weeks. Everything else that launched this weekend was chilled by the mighty Spooder that just dominated at the box. So hope I can watch this new film without getting sick as it looks absolutely beautiful. Only the Mile style scenes trigger it in the trailer. Stuff outside of that I am fine with. Worst comes to worst will just skip them and read what happens

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)Finally, Emperor has watched PW's undisputed* favourite movie ever** and c's not favourite film ever. I think it's excellent. The animation is sublime, the story is tremendous, as is the voice acting. What a thrill ride. Action sequences that would be cliché in live action have a whole new dimension in animated style. That final action sequence in the supercollider was a true Marvel. There was a line right at the end of the film where Miles says "anyone can wear a mask." That line after two hours of every single Spiderman introduction starting with "I am blah. I was bitten by a radioactive spider." That's a very particular entry requirement. Apart from that, I have one question. How did Kingpin get so freakin' big? Bitten by a radioactive...blue whale? His backstory was explained in a 30-second flashback and that's all it took to give him a rock solid villain foundation. * disputed
** thanks to The Dark Knight
