This popped up on my suggested videos on YouTube for some reason, and I watched it and man did I feel nostalgic.
1. CM Punk made things feel so vital and genuinely exciting. 2. The WWE Championship felt like the most important thing in the world.
but the biggest take away
3. Damn are the WWE missing John Cena. How good is he on the mic here? Just phenomenal. Give up on the Seth Rollins experiment and give the ball to someone who can talk because that's what we're really missing from our top guy. Everyone on the roster can wrestle amazingly these days, it's just the way it is, but no one can talk like John Cena does here. So good. So good. I think he's better than Punk here. Every time Cena speaks he knows how they're going to react to what he says and he plays them perfectly - it's a work of art.

Always thought part of the Roman Experiment was secretly getting us a reason to cheer Cena in a conspiracy "at least it's not HIM!" way, but man is he missed! Also Cena's shirt is so blinding it's insane.

This is what they get for folding for the nerds.
Seth Rollins is awful nowadays. I couldn’t care less for the man.

Which is why Austin coming in against work rate bland Bret Hart worked so well. He changed the game. The only problem is there’s nobody I can think of that can come into the WWE right now and “change the landscape”. It’s like nobody knows how to cut an awesome, original promo anymore. Does anyone even have a cool catch phrase anymore? If the answer is Seth saying he’s going to “burn it down” then we have a major problem. New Day Rocks is good but that’s why they’re over.

Does anyone even have a cool catch phrase anymore? If the answer is Seth saying he’s going to “burn it down” then we have a major problem. New Day Rocks is good but that’s why they’re over. Good work rate helps (all WWE’s top guys during the AE could go), but like you say, their character work is what made the biz huge. However, Bret Hart in 97 is one of the best characters ever. Anyways, no one jumps out as a guy that can change the course of business, but Austin didn’t standout as that guy either pre-1996. Their best chance IMO was Punk nearly a decade ago now. The problem is the over-sanitized WWE product will never allow for a character like Austin to organically get over. The few times someone has, they seemingly try and kill it. Oh, and I’ll toss this out there: Size matters too, and the shrinking of the business is hindering its reemergence as a major player in today’s world.

So here's a Fantasy Booking trend that people have been doing for, like, four years, and I'm just sort of sick of it. There does not exist a world wherein CM Punk, at 40 years old, post-UFC-shitkicking, is going to New Japan or working the G1 Climax. Yeah, he mentioned it in the initial Pipebomb to pop the smarks, but he only ever worked a handful of Japanese matches early on in his career. He's never been a stiff striker, particularly athletic, or a great, realistic, stretch-a-guy technician. He's a character wrestler with a great grasp of psychology and solid fundamentals.
Can you imagine, in your wildest dreams, CM Punk taking even ONE Ishii lariat on his first night of the G1? He would roll out of the ring, onto the floor, up the ramp, to the back, grab his stuff, and keep rolling straight to the airport and go home.

Like a lot of indie guys that shifted to the WWE, CM Punk was a pretty stiff worker in his day. Not often, and not as well as others, but to say he was never a stiff worker is wrong.
Plus he fought in UFC. Pretty sure they hit for real last time I checked. Yes I know it’s different than safely striking opponents and pulling your punches, but it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that he could still work stiff matches.
And not everything in New Japan is stiff either. Watch Moxley’s run this year. Outside of like 3 matches he rarely hit or took stiff strikes that weren’t chops.

I recently finally checked out his indy stuff against AJ and Eddie/Rey and he seemed as professionally light in those matches as he ended up seeming in WWE.

Punk/Joe was pretty god damn stiff. I get KITN's point, but the speculation seems pretty damn harmless from fans.

So I don’t know if you guys have Keno or similar outside Australis but a patron at my work has won $1.7 million on the 10 number games.
We don’t know who it is yet, but whoever is in for a great surprise when they check their tickets 😮
Two places I’ve worked at now where this has happened 😂

Updated, they claimed the ticket. "We only play Keno sporadically and we bought the ticket on Tuesday afternoon and then went home and forgot about it. "We only decided to check the results online last night and we couldn't believe our eyes. "We went berserk. We both got very dizzy and couldn't stop shaking. Our whole family is so excited. It's life-changing," she said. When asked how they planned to enjoy their Keno windfall, the couple said it would give them the financial freedom they'd been dreaming of. "We will be setting ourselves up for the rest of our lives," she said. "We're going to buy a new home and really enjoy our retirement. Club Maitland City CEO Ian Martin said he was thrilled his patrons had scored this life-changing prize. "We are certainly all so excited," he said. "When we saw the win come up on the screen the atmosphere here was electric. Everyone was so happy and all the patrons in the club were checking their tickets and hoping they were the winner. "We are so glad this couple have checked their ticket and have been united with their million-dollar prize. "We can only imagine how excited they were when they discovered this news. "Hopefully this is the start of a winning streak for us and we sell plenty more major prizes soon," Mr Martin said. www.maitlandmercury.com.au/story/6368480/maitland-couple-keno-millionaires/?cs=171——- I was serving someone when it went off and all the regulars started yelling at the tv behind me. Me: What is everyone yelling about.. HOLY...!

Fun note from today’s Wrestling Observer: Tony Khan named AEW’s weekly show “Dynamite” because he used to write fan fic and that was the show name he used.
Anyone back in the day have a show called Dynamite that isn’t around anymore? Could the owner of AEW be a former Fic’er!?

So a friend of mine killed himself last night and I just found out about it a little while ago.
I’m super sad especially because the last time we hung out, we got into a huge argument because he was talking shit about me behind my back and that’s how we left off a friendship of 10+ years.
I never got to speak to him again. This was about two months ago now. I’m sure we would’ve made up but man this one hurts. Even though we left off on bad terms, he was in my life for a long time. Shit man. Shit this is fucking my head up pretty bad right now.
I’m sharing this so you guys can realize that grudges shouldn’t be kept. Forgiving is better. You never know if you’ll ever get the chance. Love people and love life.

I wonder if he was talking shit about you because his head was in such a bad place (as it clearly must've been if he ended up killing himself)? I wonder if that kind of shit talk within a friendship is any kind of good early warning indicator that something is fucked up with a friend? That sucks, KING KID. Sorry to hear about another loss in your life. First kemis here, then a "real" friend. 2019 has been shit. EDIT: Not to mention RT's dad. Fuuuck man. Fuck 2019. EDIT2: And just felt a BB size lump in my sack. Fucking great.

When I was in middle or high school my youngest uncle (a glorified cousin due to how close we were in age) came to visit my house for a month. Turns out he came to be with us as he was seeking psychiatric help. After he went back he killed himself and his ex. Before he left I was a shit to him because he wanted me to do chores and I blew him off in that angst NOT MY DAD! way. Then he kills himself so that gets to be my last interaction with him.
