I’ve rewatched most of the first two seasons of the Deuce now that I’ve seen season three and honestly I am really surprised that in a time where there is this much tv, The Deuce makes no sense to be on tv. I get that it was sold as a show about porn, but really it’s about Times Square over three decades told through a bartender backed by the mob with hookers, pimps, homosexuals, and feminism. Somehow it seems slow as molasses yet builds up a ton of momentum by the end of each season and you care about the characters and their constant failures.
It’s not as good as The Wire, because those seasons had more focus, but it’s easily the best thing David Simon has done since and (probably?) one of my five favorite shows of the decade.

Just pounded through latest season of Big Mouth. So good. The gang behind that show is a talented bunch.

You guys.
Mr. Robot just fucked me up forever.
That episode was beyond anything I’ve ever seen on television before.
Seriously if you’ve never watched this show you just need to. I’m speechless.

Mr. Robot started off promising but season 1 got worse and worse and I eventually tapped out. Not even the great Christian Slater could save it.

Latest season or are you catching up on first and second? I'm behind on both Better Caul Sall and Mr. Robot and dying to catch up on both. Latest season. It’s also the last season. Sunday’s episode was aired commercial free and was broken up into 5 acts. It was almost like watching an hour long play. Not only was it intensely immersive and captivating, it was a massive twist in the story and unraveled a ton of shit. The acting was insanely good, and it’s completely changed the entire story. I’ve never seen anything like it in a tv show. It was incredible. Seriously if networks aren’t just throwing blank cheques at Sam Esmail after this then I don’t know what to think. Mr. Robot started off promising but season 1 got worse and worse and I eventually tapped out. Not even the great Christian Slater could save it. I’m going to rewatch the show after it’s over but I remember thinking this too. I decided to finish season 1 before I made up my mind and by the end of the season I couldn’t wait for more. And the show just got better every year. I know a lot of people say “just give it time!” about shows they like but if you didn’t watch far enough to get to the first big twist (doesn’t sound like you did), you should give it one more shot.

Mr. Inbetween is a such a vastly underrated show, I'm seeing little to know talk about it. Most other shows, the second an episode airs, you can jump on youtube and find your favorite scenes, this only has a smattering of promo material. It's incredible the way it treats violence with such apathy, but then in a moment, switches it up and means everything. Really going to be disappointed if this is the next in the long under appreciated gems to get the ax. Ray is an absolutely fascinating character, with a positively stellar performance by Scott Ryan, who is also the creator; few people have ever debuted just knowing their strengths to a degree to come out swinging with this absolute gold.

Me and the gf started watching Daybreak last night, almost halfway through the first season already. Love it if not just for the fact that the guy who played Ferris Bueller is ironically playing a HS principle.

I just cannot stress enough how good Mr Inbetween is, if you're not watching it, you should be. Like, the first season was pretty good, but that second season was just great episode after great episode, especially in the last stretch. That finale was just an absolutely brutal watch, almost nothing happens, just an extended conversation, then the climax is just emotionally draining. Honestly, sometimes feels like there's more legit content in these 24 minutes than most hour long series. Might just be my favorite show on TV at the moment, really hope this is one of those series where the content allows it to continue even though it's not drawing the best ratings. Low budgetness of it should help. Watch it. WATCH IT.

Whoever wrote the descriptions for "American Gods" season 2 is a son of a bitch, free weekend marathon so I recorded them all, going to save them so they don't get deleted, main character death right at the start, hard to miss if you accidentally gaze at the episode.

That was a damn fine hour of television for Watchmen's penultimate episode, can't wait to see what the finale brings.

I think Watchmen had a solid enough season, kind of think they should leave it at that, told a singular story, not really sure what more they could do. No need to try to make it a series and spoil it.
Series final of Mr. Robot next week, the wait, it hurts.

Lindleof certainly seems done with Watchmen. Not having any background in Watchmen I thought it had some good stuff, but the episodes that everyone else seems to love (the Hooded Justice and Dr. Manhattan eps) weren’t much favorites, I really enjoyed the Shiny mask guy episode and the finale.

I'm a bit nervous to, if I'm being honest. Mr. Robot absolutely mind-fucked us on Sunday and nobody has any idea what is going on and there's only one episode left. I don't know what to think or how to feel. All I know is this has been a wild ride and I really hope Esmail brings it home on Sunday.

It's not as good as the source, by a long shot, but I think it was a mostly successful and enjoyable effort. At the very least, didn't do anything badly that comes to mind, fantastic cast of well delivered performances. Kind of worth it for Irons' Veidt alone.
And yeah, that last episode was maybe the most "What the fuck?" moment of the series, and that's saying something for Mr. Robot. Hopefully the ending's as good as the rest, always the scariest part of a great series.

Finally wrapped up Bodyguard.
I'd say it was like Homeland, but done better and more concisely.
Almost interested in watching again to see if I can piece together the puzzle myself this time.
Definitely would recommend. Only six episodes. Gripping as hell.

That Mr. Robot series finale...perfection. Had family over for Christmas so only got to watch this on Thursday. It really was. That’s how you do a finale. Lots of suspense, ties the loose ends, everyone gets an ending. Yeah, no complaints. I loved it. Great show.

Just getting started on Better Things after seeing it on so many best of the decade lists. It’s funny, you can feel some of the Louis CK humor in it, though that could be mostly Adlon as they’ve worked together so much they might have a similar sense of humor.

Started The Witcher. Liking it so far. I’ve only played The Witcher 3 and have been told this show is more based on the books than the interpretation the games did. So I’m basically watching an original story that I have a loose understanding of, which is nice.
I liked the first episode but you really just get thrown into the middle of it. If you’re expecting backstory and proper establishment you’re not getting it right away.

Doctor Who returns tonight, super freaking excited about that.
Almost finished with Dickinson, will probably start The Witcher on Netflix after that.

Stranger ThingsYeah I know everyone in the universe binge watched Season 3 in a single day because that's what people do these days, but not I. I have just watched the last three episodes. Part of the reason it took me so long to watch was because I wasn't enjoying it that much. I didn't know why for a long time, but these last episodes have revealed why. The show lost its identity. It became a joke. It was massively successful so the writers could basically do what they like. So they threw literally everything at the wall. The first two seasons, particularly the first, was a solid sci-fi/horror story with vague political undertones set in an 80s backdrop. Now I don't know what Stranger Things is. Every episode is a mish mash of poorly executed teen romance, awkward comedy, forced montages, awful Russian stereotypes, cheesy action, and goofy sci-fi, jam-packed full of clichés. Many times there are two or three of these genres in a single scene. Such as the scene where the awful Russian stereotype tortures Steve and Robin in quite brutal fashion while there's an evil doctor with a syringe and Steve and Robin are cracking jokes because they are on some kind of drugs. In the final episode they find a way to sneak in a contrived 80s sing along that everyone can hear on walkie talkies while a giant CGI spider made of intestines is running around trying to kill everyone while badass-turned-parody Hopper is dressed as a Russian military official in an underground base. As I said, the writers threw all the shit they could come up with at the wall. Most of it was shit. There was some genuinely good stuff, but it was overwhelmed by all the shit. This is a common aspect of highly successful TV shows, where logic and nuance is thrown out of the window, to be replaced by OTT nonsense and fan service. Game of Thrones did it. Dexter did it. Breaking Bad didn't do it, thank god. But I've never seen it done so blatantly and painfully as in Season 3 of Stranger Things. And it usually takes a lot longer than 3 seasons to get to that point. Did people like this?

I started to binge the Circle on Netflix. With only four episodes being released currently, I am contemplating starting the UK series seeing as it is on Youtube. It has been a while since I have been caught in the web of reality television. What a fun mix of Big Brother, Black Mirror, and Catfish. The personalizes are varied, and I love-hate Joey so much.
I'm also doing a watch of Star Wars Rebels.
