I had no idea it was a book. Perhaps if I read the book, I would agree with you as that is often the case. (Don't get me started on how they mutilated my favorite book into a laughable made for TV movie.) Having never read the book, I can only speak to my own experience with the movie. Which book? Wife and I just pounded through Little Fires Everywhere and Big Little Lies, both of which were TV miniseries based on books. Wife read them both; I didn't. Wife claims BLL followed the book better and she consequently preferred BLL. However, she concedes the changes LFE made to the ending were better than the book. I liked LFE more, but the margin wasn't wide between them. The Mists of Avalon. Based on Arthurian Legend, but told from the POV of the women. It's a 1000+ page novel they made into a 4 hour TV movie. They took out things that happened, made things happen that never happened and a couple of the more pivotal roles were poorly cast. Thank god Marion Zimmer Bradley was dead so she wasn't alive to witness it.
Have you seen Ozark CK?

Yeah, I wasn't into the first couple of episodes. I liked Breaking Bad, but not a fan of Better Call Saul. I'm difficult.

Let me think... Can you give us 3-5 shows you've watched and liked/tolerated to help calibrate recommendations (and also avoid retreads)?

You're allowed. I'd make some suggestions, but I'm sure my shows aren't for everyone around here and tend to fall on the more 'girly' side.
Just finished AJ and The Queen and started Mom, coincidentally with my Mom. We have also started Unorthodox. Very interesting look into Hasidic Jews.
Without mom I've been switching between The Last Dance about Michael Jordan and The Bulls and Surviving R Kelly. Surviving R Kelly is a tough one. I usually can only watch an episode ever few days.

Has anyone seen The Man In the High Castle? It looks interesting and I've read about it, I just need a little push to commit.

Has anyone seen The Man In the High Castle? It looks interesting and I've read about it, I just need a little push to commit. It's a very slow show, but I quite enjoyed it. Haven't got to the final season yet, so I don't know if it stuck the landing, but strong cast and consistently entertaining. I wouldn't quite put it with best of the best, but high second tier program. If you've never watched Boardwalk Empire or Peaky Blinders, I'll throw those out as suggestions.

@ck , I'm gonna recommend Bodyguard from BBC on Netflix. Saw it, just 6 episodes. It was okay. I need a show with seasons.

Parks and Rec officially won the apocalypse, didn't miss a beat in that special. Glad you posted this so I could check it out. Bittersweet really. Really showed that they could continue the show without missing a beat. Really miss these characters. Funny enough I was thinking about the concept of "treat yourself" just before seeing your post.

Despite not really being into the What We Do in the Shadows film, God the TV show is so damn good. This season has been hilarious. Adding in Natasia Demetriou was a genius move and she really brings everything together.

Just wrapped up Season 2 of Big Little Lies last night. Overall a decent watch, I suppose. Like a well-acted soap opera. Wife really enjoyed it. Meryl Streep is such a fucking monster good actress.

Meryl's great but season 2 was pretty unnecessary really and I'm sure not helped by that whole production drama (I'll never get over them editing out the icecream scene). I've posted about it here before but there is an annoying trend of TV shows that start out hot (and popular - and I guess that's the problem) retreading their steps for the next couple of seasons when they really shouldn't be extended, or need braver writers to actually move the story on rather than repeat themselves endlessly. BLL, Killing Eve, Handmaid's Tale were/are all like that - pretty filming and good acting can only sustain for so long, you've actually got to keep the plot developing to keep me interested for the twentieth hour and beyond.

Jean-Marc Vallee directed season 1 but because he was working on Sharp Objects (other show you should watch with Wife if you haven't already) when they wanted to make BLL2, so Andrea Arnold took over. Once filming was complete, HBO apparently pushed her out and brought Vallee back in to edit under the guise of making everything feel more like season 1, and significant parts of episodes were changed/shortened and obviously some of the things Arnold was trying to do got compromised. I think the end product clearly suffered from too many cooks being in the kitchen.

Sounds like there's a potential chance for that to be our next quarantine binge.

I finished Normal People last night, and while PW isn't exactly the target audience (it's intimate, emotional and artsy - and British too, I guess) I felt compelled to post because it's one of the best things I've ever watched. I can't stop thinking about it.

Got even better in season 2 with Andrew Scott's playing the priest.

The Office- I'm on the final season after binge watching the show. It's the funniest show I've ever watched in my life BUT once Michael left, it lost it's luster IMO. I understand the love and fascination with the show during it's heyday. I also think they picked the perfect time for the final season, too. I'm taking a break from finishing it though because I got into a new show. Read below.
Ozark- Just started watching this show on Monday and finished Season 1. I'm 2 episodes into Season 2 already and it's been awesome.

Just finished watching season 2 of Dead to Me. While it wasn’t terrible, it definitely wasn’t as good as the first season. I’m pretty disappointed with how it planned out considering it could’ve worked just as a one season show

I always promised myself I'd do a full Supernatural re-watch before the series ends. I know, it's not cool, it's a lot of things but it's also my favourite TV show so y'all can say what you like.
I put it off forever because that would be admitting to myself that it's going to end, and I wasn't there yet. With the announcement that the final episodes would be coming in the Fall, I finally felt it was time to start that promised re-watch, 14 1/2 seasons, it's a challenge but I'm up for it. I've got up to season 3 already and there are so many episodes I'd forgotten, so many great episodes that I'd forgotten I love. The trickster episodes are definitely among my favourites.
So that will keep me going for the forseeable future.

Caught the second season of After Life. Really loving this, enjoy all the characters, what little we see of Lisa is actually pretty amazing and that ending with the dog really had me on edge. Just great stuff.

I’m finally catching up on Arrested Development. I didn’t enjoy Season 4 when it first came out and so I gave up on it, but I decided to try again recently. The way they redid season 4 made it better for sure, but it still wasn’t good.
