Got two episodes left on Ozark season 3. I don’t think any show I’ve ever watched has built up tension like this show has. Season 2 was a bit of a dip in quality but this season might be the best yet.
Someone needs to give Tom Pelphrey a bunch of awards already.

I'm watching Forged in Fire from the beginning currently, while waiting for Bosch season 6 to begin later this month.

I'm watching Forged in Fire from the beginning currently, while waiting for Bosch season 6 to begin later this month. Really enjoy Forged in Fire, a competition show with no unnecessary drama. People work together and help each other even when they've got shit to be on. When there's an elimination it's usually "Yep, I fucked up, good call fellas."

The Barb Wire talk and memories in the other thread got me thinking and remembering... Anyone else used to watch VIP? Like an updated Charlie's Angels meets Baywatch. As much as I was in it for Pam, the brunette and redhead weren't too shabby either. Now there's a show, I haven't thought about in forever, I remember really liking it, but man I can't imagine it aged well.

After a so-so second season, Westworld is rebounding nicely this year, love to see where they're going.

Finished both Magicians and Stranger Things 3 this week. Woof, what an emotional week! Magicians, I thought, did a decent job ending everything with presumably little notice. Stranger Things 3 was as great as 1 & 2, and of course the ending tugged at the ol' heartstrings.

Better Call Saul is just SO DAMN GOOD! Easily the greatest spin-off of all time as far as I'm concerned, last episode was INTENSE. Rhea Seahorn really deserves so much more recognition, by far the best female character in the Meth-a-verse. Season finale next week, then...just one season left. SO GOOD!
Also another great episode of Westworld, the breaking of the loop scene was phenomenal. After breaking big in the first season, second season wasn't great, but it's finally started hitting it out of the park as a top quality sci-fi. Even the weakest episode of the season was pretty damn good.

So yeah, Empire cutting the final 2 episodes and cobbling together a finale out of the 18th episode and parts of the 19th is as hackey as it sounded. Throughout the season, they tease Lucious getting shot and Cookie blowed up...these two things are never revisted by the final scene. They end on a happy note, but if you keep those teases to be true, they both die shortly after, since they never elaborated on anything else with them.

Highly recommend Dave on FX. Really enjoyed it. Similar to You're The Worst in that it elicited some legit laugh out loud hard moments, but also had some really poignant moments touching on difficult and/or relatable life things.
Moving into Little Fires Everywhere now.

I finished up the season of Better Call Saul which was tremendous, and Brockmire, which has been less tremendous. The future story has had some potential, just not in on the Brockmire with a daughter story.

I'm rewatching The Wire on Hulu. It's been a good decade since I saw it last. Middle of season three and I like it more now than when I watched it almost in real time. This level of writing is such high level.

The future story has had some potential, just not in on the Brockmire with a daughter story. It's too bad that it'll probably take at least two, maybe three years years before Saul reaches its conclusion. First with the virus, and then with AMC traditionally splitting their shows' final seasons in half, totaling two years.

Curiosity got the best of me and I went quickly down the rabbit hole and watched all of Too Hot To Handle. The show is ridiculous, and the drama is over the top but it was also amusing, and I wanted to know who would win.
Some mind numbing fun to ignore the world falling apart 😂

Wife read Little Fires Everywhere, so wanted to check the show out. Not sure if it's like a mini series (I guess it is?) but it's just 8 episodes, and man... Gripping. Wife says it diverged from the book a bit, but prefers the TV series ending with its light alteration. Definitely highly recommend, but be prepared to boohoo.

I tapped out on Ozark after two episodes. You could tell from the start that it was one of those shows that was trying much harder to be a "good show" more than it was ever going to actually be.
Feels like it's been a bit of a dry spell on Netflix lately - but After Life is great. Perfect balance of humour and depression.

Guessing this is what they are filling the Atlanta gap with? I always find out about FX shows on PW because they have such a shitty/unavailable streaming situation over here. Time to go find me some links.

Dave was very good from the first couple episodes, but I evidently forgot to set it to series record, as it's only within the last few days I remembered it, and realized it wasn't recording...have to catch up some time.

Worst episode in my opinion was 7 (I think?), where they took a random episode on secondary characters for seemingly no reason. Overall, it's no Better Call Saul... But definitely hangs with You're The Worst IMO as solid FX sleepers.

Prodigal Son went out on a high note, pleasant surprise of the season...so, knowing Fox, it'll probably get cancelled. Hope it doesn't.
Also, if renewed, hope they don't stifle it like forcing Sleepy Hollow to become more of a freak of the week type show after it's great first season.

I had no idea it was a book. Perhaps if I read the book, I would agree with you as that is often the case. (Don't get me started on how they mutilated my favorite book into a laughable made for TV movie.) Having never read the book, I can only speak to my own experience with the movie. Which book? Wife and I just pounded through Little Fires Everywhere and Big Little Lies, both of which were TV miniseries based on books. Wife read them both; I didn't. Wife claims BLL followed the book better and she consequently preferred BLL. However, she concedes the changes LFE made to the ending were better than the book. I liked LFE more, but the margin wasn't wide between them.

Looking for a show to stream. I just finished up The Wire again. Watched the latest Bosch season. I'm picky, but open to ideas.
