Has anyone watched Home Game on Netflix yet? It's a sports docuseries covering unusual or lesser known sports that are usually national pastimes of other countries.
Just watched the first one on Calcio in Florence, Italy, but quickly skipped ahead to Catch Fetiche in the DRC (Congo) after, which is basically pro wrestling + voodoo//everyone is a culturally appropriate Papa Shango and it's fucking awesome. I had no idea this was even a thing. I need way more of this in my life.

Finally finished watching Stranger Things last night. Not the best show in the world despite everyone seeming to love it, but I did enjoy it. Not sure why so many people hate on season 3.
I have now started the show The Order, which just had season 2 come out.

Guess who's coming back to TV?
Comedy Central just announced that Beavis & Butt-Head are returning for two new seasons!

Just finished up the Deuce, entertaining show with a great ensemble of both actors and characters. It never quite hits any highs like the best shows, but it never touches the lows either. Not sure I'd ever have the motivation to watch it a second time, as there were only a few truly memorable moments for me, but the don't all have to be Breaking Bad and such...it was definitely well worth the one watch.
Next show: Treme.

Seems that in the Covid world there is a serious decline in the number of shows being released
Just watched the order series 2 on Netflix and it was light and inoffensive entertainment but not great.
Just started watching warrior nun which is pretty similar to the order from a quality level, the narration of her thoughts is weird, but I like the slow burn of the story
On the Wire I stalled a third of the way through season 4, stories are too fragmented and the school angle kind of lost me though I like Prez. Is it worth getting back into?
I saw S2 of Umbrella Academy is coming out soon. What did you guys think of the first season I didn't mind it but a little dark I really enjoyed most of the characters but never connected with the Cello girl, I sort of hoped she would die

Really is disappointing how many great episodes are getting axed for blackface, straight blackface of course would be understandable, but instances of using it not make fun of black people, but the act itself shouldn't be erased. Community, 30 Rock, and especially Always Sunny had fantastic episodes tied to it. Should all go the disclaimer route, rather than vaulting them. Hopefully someday people remember the difference and they're returned to their proper form, but as things seem to get more sensitive as time goes on, not holding my breath on it.

There's only five seasons, so you don't have all that far to go. You can do it! If I recall correctly, I think the school stuff is just some seed-sowing for later.

iNCY you should really soldier through season 4, as it’s challenging to start but worth every minute in the end.

Snowpiercer has been REALLY good. Really good expansion of the storyline. Not sure it can sustain over several seasons, but well worth watching for now.

Ah, not quite as good as season 3, but still solid...5th was the biggest disappointment, but even certain character arcs there were great.

The forth season is my favourite, with Barksdale's crew dwindling in numbers the streets grow more violent as different factions battle for supremacy and you follow these four kids caught up in the middle of it. The show took some bold risks to tell it's story and it knocks it out of the park.
The fifth is fine, I just found the media less interesting then all the other industries they covered, even the docks. Actually the docks for me hold up better on rewatch.

Now yinz got me pondering what my favorite The Wire season is.
Let me check Wikipedia for a quick memory refresh...
And after that refresh, I'm thinking first and foremost fuck me was The Wire great. Picking a favorite seasons feels like picking a favorite child. I think for me it's a toss up between 3 & 4.

Thanks for the suggestion @adminIt’s one we have lined up to watch so I am glad it is good! Right now we are so busy packing that we’ve barely watched anything. Drag Race Canada and World of Dance are our go to’s when we actually sit down to watch anything.

For me my favorite Wire season is the fourth. It took several watches to get there because overthrowing 80% of the regular cast from seasons 1-3 into secondary storylines was tough, but once you figure out the kids the season has by far the most heartbreak, in the system that seems the least solvable, with the characters that are the most valuable.
Really it’s hard picking though, but for me it goes 4-1-3-2-5

Finished watching The Order, wasn’t too sure if I liked it or not at first but I ended up really enjoying and hopefully won’t have to wait too long for another season.
Now I’ve finally started Lucifer after getting bugged from about 10 people over the past 3 years to watch. So far really enjoying it, I can understand why everyone is in love with the character lol

@aaron,@aaron,Found and binged Nightwatch on Prime over a few weeks. @theshow you're city is bananas and far more dangerous than I ever would have imagined. Holy shit. Yes, New Orleans is nuts in both a good and bad way. Thankfully, I’ve only had positive experiences. I live an hour away from the city so I’m fine but when I do go, I tend to avoid the night life there as much as possible but I’ll always recommend going to the French Quarter and river walk during the day. Turning on the local news though, there’s always some shit going on. If they aren’t talking about gang violence, there’s the Hard Rock hotel collapsing or street flooding to talk about. New Orleans is many things but boring is not one of them. Lol. I do need to check out this show now.

New Orleans is many things but boring is not one of them. Lol. I do need to check out this show now. Oh yeah there were some awesome people there too , the paramedics featured and even cops featured all seemed legit and a lot of the helpful citizens. The 5th and 6th (parish I think) though there had to have been 5+ shootings every night of the week. A ton gang related but then there were also random assaults or just shooting at kids riding by on their bike and stuff. Just stuff I couldn't believe because of my sheltered existence in the north. That doesn't include the stabbings that also happened all the time. Plus a ton of hilarious drunk people who just got picked up for being too drunk on Bourbon Street. I'd recommend it though , it's like cops only more focus on EMT's and what they deal with. Also a very upscale version that focuses more on the problems and people than the crimes and tragedy. I loved it and it was surely eye opening as normally you only hear about the party atmosphere of New Orleans and don't always get the full picture of poverty , violence and drug problems that take place in areas. It's three seasons , Amazon Prime , check it out.

Band of Brothers/the Pacific, does it matter which one is watched first, or is there a preferred order between the two? They're not related, so whichever order you watch the series in doesn't really matter. To me, Band of Brothers set the bar so high that Pacific at times felt a little bit "lesser than"... so I'd be somewhat curious to see what a reaction is like watching them in the opposite order if you've never seen either. You're not wasting time with either. Both are epic, and all time favorites of mine. Mad respect for those men. Meanwhile... Just wrapped up Schitt's Creek last night. So good. I admittedly suffer from recency bias, but I'm hard pressed right now not to put it up there with The Wire neck-and-neck as all-time favorites.

Finished up Treme, chalk another one up with Oz and The Deuce, all very good shows with fantastic characters and stellar performances, but nothing quite grabs me enough that I feel I'd ever watch them again. Though Treme definitely had one of the best soundtracks in TV history, amazing array of music, which is no less than should be expected from a show focusing on life in the big easy. Well worth no less than a single watch though, no regrets.
Know I'll have time for the Pacific and Band of Brothers, but not sure I'll have enough HBO max for anything else with other things going down. Might try to fit Ballers in the back end of August, all things go well, would try to squeeze in Six Feet Under, but that'll need around 2 weeks, so not sure I could force it in there. Ballers may only have a chance because they're half hour episodes.
